PURPOSE OF DEPARTMENT The Cricket Department is responsible for all cricket operations and cricket development activities in line with the CWI s strategy for cricket. These include activities relating to the High Performance Centre and Territorial Academies; talent identification programmes, player welfare, playing conditions, executing the administrative, logistical and operational aspects of all regional tournaments, home & away international series and the team to best practise standards and in accordance with regional and international governing codes and rules. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION Responsible for the development and implementation of a national coach strategy which broadens the base of quality of coaches, increases the overall technical standard of national coaching, establishes consistent and professional coach education programs and drives the engagement and recognition of coaches nationally. Promote the national coach pathway to franchise/territories, ensuring its integration with the national player pathway. Create a culture for coaching excellence in Territorial Boards through the provision of quality coach development material. Job Statement: Manager, Coaching Education 1

CORE ACCOUNTABILITY CORE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES Strategic Focus Implement a national coaching strategy that provides clear pathways for coaches at all levels of cricket. Drive a coordinated national approach to coaching and development. Facilitate the retention of coaches at all levels. Coach Development Framework Ensure the existence of a national coach development framework. Framework to include: o a coaching pathway for coaches o a coach accreditation process with national and regional recognition o standardised assessment and reporting o the ability to monitor and report on national coaching statistics Develop and maintain content for the framework and develop material for course facilitators at each level of the coaching pathway. Ensure there is an effective link between accreditation, certificates, database, police records, etc. across CWI s technological platforms. Ensure that the Coach Development Framework aligns with the Player Development Framework to maintain a consistent approach to all technical and tactical information for players and coaches. Stakeholder Relationships Build and maintain a network of strong relationships with the six Territorial Boards. Keep abreast of developments in coaching across other sporting codes to drive innovation and improve performance. Guide, mentor and assist CWI coach education staff. Liaise with CWI s high performance team to identify future high performance coaches. Liaise with CWI s high performance team to ensure consistency in coaching principles and content. Course Facilitator Development Devise and deliver an annual programme of workshops and seminars covering relevant areas of coaching at all levels for course facilitators Help identify and train suitably experienced coaches to conduct mentoring across regions. Communication, Monitoring and Reporting Organisational Standards Agree performance criteria with Territorial Boards and monitor and report on coach statistics within each Territorial Board. Engage with all coaches through regular newsletters and continuing education. Develop and maintain a database of national coaches. Maintain a record of coaches attending Professional Development events. Provide other ad-hoc reporting as required. Teamwork Build and maintain an effective working relationship with all peers. Coordinate and integrate departmental work activities with the work activities of colleagues. Positively contribute to and collaborate with teams and other departments to achieve organisational goals Staff Development Attend workshops, seminars and other developmental opportunities as identified to improve individual and/or team performance. Participate in informal learning and development opportunities e.g. cross training and work shadowing. Communication Actively participate in staff meetings. Provide information to colleagues and managers in a timely manner. Model communications actions consistent with the organisation s communication standards. 3 Professional Development Monitor and identify personal/professional development needs and maintain capabilities consistent with the organisation s philosophy and values through special project assignments, technical workshops and seminars and development opportunities and activities. Performance Management Positively contribute to the performance management process by setting goals, completing the self-evaluation, and actively participating in performance management feedback sessions. Be proactive, ask questions to ensure understanding of duties & responsibilities and be accountable for the proper execution of accountabilities and tasks to the required standard. Commit to the achievement of performance objectives and the completion of tasks by accepting that irregular working hours are an important feature of the role and being flexible with regard to the scheduling of work hours to enable the proper execution of this role. Professionalism/Work Ethic Display a pleasant, professional manner and positive attitude on the job and guidelines established in the organisation s HR policies & procedures manual. Carry out any reasonable requests made by direct manager in a timely manner. Report for duty punctually ready to work, in appropriate professional wear, ensuring correct personal presentation for business/work. Safety Work safely and use any safety equipment provided. Report defects in own work area and in the wider office promptly. Keep assigned equipment in proper working order to maintain a safe work environment. Supervision (processes & activities) Coordinate the activities of department/unit to ensure a smooth flow of operations by setting priorities, establishing goals, and assisting in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures. Develop and document all relevant policies, procedures, standards and codes relevant to the effective operation of the Department/Unit. Ensure accurate record keeping. Regularly review and amend all documentation for accuracy and relevance. Makes budgetary recommendations to functional Manager and monitors expenditures against approved budget. Special Feature(s) of the Job Whilst every effort has been made to explain the main duties and responsibilities of this role, the dynamic and fluid nature of the business of the CWI and the Sports Management Industry may give rise to the need for new and critical duties and /or projects and flexibility with regard to scheduling hours of work. Therefore employees will be expected to comply with any related request from the CWI management team, including ad hoc projects and undertake work of a similar level that is not specified in the Job Statement. With notice, may be required to work extended hours at specific periods in the Cricket Series/Tournament calendar. 5 ROLE / PERSON SPECIFICATION Academic/Professional Qualifications Tertiary level qualification in sports management, business management, or related discipline Accredited Level 3 Coaching Qualification Practical Experience Proven experience with establishing and delivering a coaching strategy regionally/nationally, either in cricket or another sport. Proven experience and demonstrable success working in coach management in sport (ideally cricket) with at least 3-5 years experience A strong track record in dealing comfortably with senior management, coaches, educators and other key stakeholders in a variety of formal and informal settings. Training, development or teaching experience. Technical Knowledge/Skills/Competency: Fully skilled/competent o Excellent organisational and administrative skills o Excellent communication and presentation skills; communicate consistently, openly and honestly. o Quickly establishes and maintains rapport and effective relationships at all levels o Ability to set clear strategy to meet business needs, whilst fully understanding the importance of stakeholder buy-in and support to influence change. o Ability to manage and measure work including setting clear objectives and measures, clearly assigning responsibility for tasks and decisions, and monitoring progress against objectives for self, direct reports and the areas for which you are responsible o Ability to influence others with excellent team building, collaboration and partnering skills o Willingness to be held accountable and desire to deliver against objectives. o Ability to be innovative and maximise opportunities o Competent in use of current Microsoft Office Knowledge o Extensive knowledge of community sport, sport programme development and coach education. o Understanding of how coaching works in cricket and other sporting codes both nationally and internationally Level of Supervision & Decision Making Authority Managed by results, achievement of objectives.
