The Factory is located at 59 Shirir Chala, Bager Bazar, Bhabanipur, Gazipur Sadar, Gazipur, Bangladesh which is approximately 37 KM far from the Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka. Mondol Intimates ltd. has started it's operation from 2013 and mainly producing knitted lingerie Items. Total 2189 employees are employed in the factory where 657 male and 1532 female workers. Out of the total employees 198 are the non production employees and rests are the production employees. Ms. Mafroda Akter - Sr. Officer (Compliance) is directly involved in risk assessment and reduces the maximum possible risk. They have appointed Medical officer and Nurse for continuous medical services to the workers. Site Description: The facility consists of one building of 9 storied. Building descriptions are as follows: Ground floor: Accessories store, warehouse, Molding, Security post & generator. 1st floor: Medical Room, Inspection Room, Gymnasium, Library, Daycare, Finished Goods Area & Folder Making Room. 2nd to 5th floor: Cutting, Sewing & Finishing. 6th floor: Office. 50% Area found free as rooftop. 7th floor: PDD & Sample. 8th floor: Dining hall and prayer room. 6 Finding Report Performance Area 1 : Social Management System and Cascade Effect Deadline date:30/04/2016 In accordance with BSCI Questionnaire 1.3 based on satisfactory evidence, the producer partially respects this principle because the the facility has procedure to select current and future supplier/sub supplier & they have the monitoring system to evaluate the business partner s social performance in respect to BSCI COC. But the personnel of marketing & merchandising section have not been trained on the requirements of BSCI during supplier/sub Supplier selection. Performance Area 2 : Workers Involvement and Protection Full Audit [Audit Id ] Audit Date: 07/03/2016 PA Score: C Deadline date:30/06/ In accordance with BSCI Questionnaire 2.2 based on limited evidence, the producer does not respect this principle because the facilities has not defined long-term goal for protecting workers in line with the aspirations of the BSCI Code of Conduct. 2. In accordance with BSCI Questionnaire 2.4, based on satisfactory evidence, the producer partially respects this principle because the facility has provided training on BSCI COC to the workers but they have no written training materials. 3. In accordance with BSCI Questionnaire 2.5, based on satisfactory evidence, the producer partially respects this principle because the facility has written grievance procedure but as per BSCI requirement following terms have not been included to the grievance procedure: i. Potential conflicts of interest and how to overcome them (e.g. if a grievance is against the person who administers the mechanism) ii. However 9 out of 36 sampled workers of different sections are getting wages less than the calculated living wages for the region (BDT ) which does not allow them to have a decent standard of living. In accordance with BSCI Questionnaire 7.4 based on satisfactory evidence the facility partially respect this principle because the facility has formed an OHS committee but this committee has not been formed in a democratic manner. 3. In accordance with BSCI Questionnaire 7.7 & Bangladesh Labour Rules, 2015, Chapter-6, Section-42, based on satisfactory evidence the facility partially respect this principle because: The facility has installed an exhaust fan in the wall between the spot removing room & female toilet. So the air from the spot removing room is being exhausted directly to the female toilet instead of outside of the building on 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th floors. 4. According to BSCI Questionnaire 7.18 based on satisfactory evidence the facility partially respect this principle because as per Bangladesh Labour Rules 2015, Chapter 8, Clause 77(2) the medical room is situated on the 1st floor of the production building instead of outside of the production building. 5. The BSCI Questionnaire 7.23 is not applicable as the factory did not provide any transportation facility. 6. The BSCI Questionnaire 7.24 is not applicable as the factory did not provide any housing facility. 7. In accordance with BSCI Questionnaire 7.25 the facility partially respects this principle because it was observed through management interview that the facility has not conducted the noise level of different sections specifically the highly noisy areas.
