14 LGBTQ LGBT + Q: What's the Q In 2016, HRC officially adopted the use of LGBTQ to reflect diversity of our entire community. While we have been using the "Q" in much of our work for years, HRC has now officially embraced the word s positive evolution, joining other advocates, supporters and new-generation activists who are taking back "queer." For purposes of the Corporate Equality Index, HRC does not require the adoption of queer in your internal and external communications, materials and programming to earn a 100% score.
