Scope and Purpose The Employee Awards Program has been established to recognize those City employees who have performed or provided a notable act, or exemplary achievement or service for the City of Peachtree City. Any employee (full-time or part-time) of the City may be nominated and may participate in the Program. II. Responsibility The City Manager or his designee shall be responsible for program administration. III. Employee Recognition A. Departmental Awards Employees are eligible to be nominated for and receive the following departmental awards: 1. Letter of Appreciation. This may be issued to an employee who has demonstrated an aboveaverage performance or service while performing assigned or special duties. The letter may be issued by an immediate supervisor, Division Director/Chief, City Manager, or the Mayor. A copy of the letter will be forwarded to the Human Resources Office for inclusion in the employee's personnel file. 2. Department/Section Employee of the Month. Each department may present this award monthly to one non-supervisory employee. The employee is normally nominated by the supervisor but may also be recommended by peers or subordinates. Selection will be made by the department/section head. The employee will be selected on merits of outstanding job performance and productivity, positive job attitude, low absenteeism rate, and other noteworthy contributions to the department and the City. Employees nominated for City Employee of the Month that are not awarded the City Employee of the Month are then awarded the Department Employee of the Month. A certificate will be presented to the employee in their department by the Department Head. B. City Awards Employees are eligible to be nominated for and receive the following City awards: 1. Service Awards - All employees will be recognized for their longevity. Employees will be awarded in the following manner: 2 Years Service Pin 5 Years Service Pin or Check for $50 10 Years Service Pin or Check for $75

2 15 Years Service Pin or Check for $ Years Service Pin or Check for $ Years Engraved Watch 30 Years Check for $ & Up Years Not Yet Determined All check/cash awards are considered taxable income. The City Manager shall issue all two (2) and five (5) year service awards. All other service awards will be presented by the Mayor at a City Council meetings unless the employee prefers to receive it within their department. For twenty (20), twenty-five (25), and thirty (30) years of service a reception should be held by the employee s division to honor these years of service. All City sponsored receptions must be held at a City facility during normal working hours with all City employees invited to attend. A maximum of $200 should be allotted for each reception, unless prior approval is received from the City Manager. 2. Perfect Attendance - An employee will earn.62 hour off with pay for each pay period of perfect attendance (no use of sick leave, no earnings, or unexcused absences). This will enable an employee to earn up to sixteen (16) hours off with pay in a twelve (12) month period. Employees will be permitted to accrue up to twenty four (24) hours of perfect attendance time after which no more time will be accrued until the employee's time is brought below 24 hours. An employee who achieves perfect attendance for 12 consecutive months will also be presented with a certificate by the Mayor at the annual Employee Christmas Luncheon. 3. Retirement Award - Any retiring employee who has faithfully served the City is eligible for this award. A reception should be held by the retiring employee s division. All City sponsored receptions must be held at a City facility during normal working hours with all City employees, along with other guests, invited to attend. The retiring employee shall receive a retirement gift (no cash or gift card) from the City valued as follows: years of service - $ years of service - $ years of service - $ years of service - $400 A maximum of $200 should be allotted for the reception, unless prior approval is received from the City Manager. 4. Distinguished Service Citation for Valor - This may be awarded by the City Manager or Mayor to an employee who performs an act of heroism in the face of personal injury or danger. 5. City Employee of the Month - This award will be presented monthly to one non-supervisory City employee who has demonstrated excellent performance and productivity, loyalty, professional pride, and other noteworthy accomplishments. Nominations may be made by the employee's immediate supervisor, department head, or Division Director and should be submitted to the Human Resources Manager by the last Friday of the month for which the employee is being nominated. Final decision shall be made by a panel composed of the Division Directors/Chiefs. A plaque and a check for $25.00 will be presented at the City Council Meeting by the Mayor unless the employee prefers to receive it in their department.

3 6. City Supervisor of the Quarter - This award will be presented quarterly to a supervisor who has performed in an outstanding manner. This employee must have displayed extensive job knowledge, good supervisory skills, loyalty and professionalism. Nominations may be made by the employee's immediate supervisor, department head or Division Director/Chief and should be submitted to the Human Resources Manager by the last day of the quarter for which the employee is being nominated. Final decision shall be made by a panel composed of the Division Directors/Chiefs. A plaque and a check for $25.00 will be presented at the City Council Meeting by the Mayor unless the employee prefers to receive it in their department. 7. City Employee of the Year - This award will be given to one non-supervisory City employee who has demonstrated excellent performance and productivity, loyalty, professional pride, and other noteworthy accomplishments. A ballot will be comprised from a list of all City Employees of the Month for the entire year. Final selection shall be made by a panel comprised of all Division Directors/Chiefs. A check in the amount of $500 will be presented at the annual Employee Christmas Luncheon. The employee will also receive a plaque that will hang in the lobby at City Hall for the following year. After displaying for one year, the plaque will be given to the employee. 8. City Supervisor of the Year. This award will be given to one supervisory employee who has exhibited outstanding performance, professionalism and supervisory skills. A ballot will be comprised from a list of all City Supervisors of the Quarter for the entire year. Final selection shall be made by a panel comprised of all Division Directors/Chiefs. A check in the amount of $500 will be presented at the annual Employee Christmas Luncheon. The supervisor will also receive a plaque that will hang in the lobby at City Hall for the following year. After displaying for one year, the plaque will be given to the employee. IV. Department Recognition Any City department may be recognized by the City Manager for the following: A. Safety Citation This may be presented annually to one or more departments that have demonstrated consistent safe work practices. This award will be presented to the department head by the Mayor. B. Service Improvement Award This may be presented annually to a department or departments, which have demonstrated excellent service and have supported the City in meeting overall City objectives. This award will be presented to the department head by the Mayor. V. Award Presentation Department Employee of the Month awards shall be represented during a group meeting of all Department employees. City Employee of the Month, Supervisor of the Quarter, and Distinguished Service Citations for Valor or Awards for Excellence will be presented at City Council meetings unless the employee prefers to receive it within their department. The City will host an annual luncheon in December at which time awards for City Employee of the Year, City Supervisor of the Year, Safety Citations and Service Improvement Awards will be

4 represented by the Mayor. Employees achieving perfect attendance for the year will also be recognized. The City "Employee Award" form (attached), signed by the employee's Division Director/Chief, department head and/or the Mayor, will be used for most awards. Plaques will be presented for the City Employee of the Month, City Employee of the Year, Supervisor of the Year, Safety Citation, and Service Improvement Award. A plaque will be maintained in City Hall with the names of the City Employees of the Month award recipients. APPROVED: Human Resources Manager Administrative Services Director City Manager
