3 FORMS Part I Read/Sign Return to the Substitute Office

4 Substitute Eligibility for Health Insurance (Information Handout with Forms) Substitutes are eligible to enroll in TRS Insurance if: You work at least 10 hours per week You pay for your full premium by the due date each month You remain an active Substitute

5 What warrants removal from the Substitute Roster? You may be removed from the district s substitute roster if: You repeatedly turn down assignments or are unavailable to work. You frequently cancel assignments or are late. You do not complete at least SIX (6) assignments for any given FOUR (4) month period. You are determined to have had poor performance or misconduct. You do not return your letter of reasonable assurance in a timely manner.

6 Benefits Enrollment/Declination Read-Sign-Return All Substitutes must DENY coverage of the MISD District Insurance at the end of the year. You will have the opportunity to ENROLL once you are an Active Substitute and are working at least 10 hours per week. The Insurance Form is part of your ed forms packet. Complete Section 2 of the Insurance Form Complete Section 6 of the Insurance Form Sign and Date the end of page 2 of the Insurance Form Contact the Benefits Office with questions or concerns.

7 Letter of Reasonable Assurance Read-Sign-Return Substitutes are At Will Employees You must sign a Letter of Reasonable Assurance for continued employment Substitutes are provided with reasonable assurance of continued employment in Mansfield ISD when each term resumes after a scheduled break

8 At Will Employees Notice of an Arrest, Resignation or Termination All employees must notify their immediate Supervisor within three (3) calendar days of any arrest. Your immediate Supervisor is Venetia Sneed, Director of HR Development At Will Employees may resign at any time for any reason or no reason at all; likewise, you may be terminated from employment for any reason or no reason at all

9 Substitute Acknowledgements Read-Sign-Return Substitutes are responsible for the guidelines outlined in the Substitute Handbook (Revised Edition Available July 31, 2018) District policies and/or changes to policy supersede handbook guidelines The Substitute Job Description describes general Job Responsibilities and duties The Substitute Discipline Management Plan describes the process for investigating and evaluating substitute concerns and performance Review the Substitute Acknowledgement Form thoroughly before initialing each section.

10 Substitute Acknowledgements Read-Sign-Return The usage of the MISD District Technology Resources is a privilege and is to be used in accordance with the teacher s lesson plans The usage of the District Technology is not private and subject to district monitoring No modifications to contractual relationships of at-will employment are intended by the Substitute Handbook or Training Materials Substitutes will be removed from the Substitute Roster if they do not work at least Six (6) times during each Four (4) month period

12 Payroll Changes If you change your banking information, you will need to personally notify the PAYROLL Department immediately in order for your payroll check to process accurately and timely. Substitutes who do not have active bank accounts in which to have their pay automatically deposited will be deactivated until an account has been set up AND Payroll has been notified. Substitutes are paid bi-monthly. (See MISD Substitute webpage for pay dates)

13 Substitute Technology Training Optional Technology Small Group Training is available to all substitutes Register for training in Eduphoria using your district login and password Four Sessions Available (AM or PM) Limited Enrollment September 25, 2018 December 11, 2018 April 4, 2019, 2019

14 LUNCH ACCOUNTS Substitutes are able to set up a Lunch Account if they choose. They will need to send their name and ID to Salvador Tinoco at SalvadorTinoco@misdmail.org and he will set up their account.

15 Substitute Professional Development As our Partner in Education Substitutes are encouraged to register for District-wide Professional Development opportunities. Courses are located in Eduphoria which can be accessed with your standard district login and password.

16 Emergency Operations Plan SPECIAL NOTICE The district Safety Committee has revised our School Safety Procedures. The changes will necessitate RE-TRAINING for all Returning Substitutes. Dates and Session Times will be announced as soon as they become available via our AESOP Message Board and Online Substitute Webpage.

17 Substitute Folder Teacher Checklist Refer to the Sample in the Returning Substitute Training Guide. Substitutes should find the items listed on the checklist in either the campus substitute folder, the teacher s substitute folder or in the classroom Questions regarding the information listed or missing from the substitute folder should be addressed to the campus administration or substitute office

18 Substitute Support Sheet (Some campuses have revised versions of the Support Sheet.) Information on The Substitute Support Sheet should be provided for you in the Campus or Teacher s Substitute Folder in an effort to further define classroom procedures and expectations as well as to notify substitutes who they contact for assistance. Questions regarding the information listed or missing from this sheet should be addressed to the campus administration or substitute office

20 Working together for student success! What can substitutes do to address the concerns of the campus? What can campuses do to address the concerns of the substitute? What can the district do to address the concerns of both?

21 Substitutes were given the opportunity to provide input regarding their substitute experience as well as Tips and Tricks for other substitutes during the summer orientation. We will address the substitute input with our Campus Administration and provide you with appropriate responses on the webpage before the start of the school year.

22 General Campus Concerns regarding Substitutes Late for assignments Last minute cancellations No Show-No Explanation Texting, fb, on phone during class Using inappropriate language Not following the Lesson Plan Looking at inappropriate videos Poor classroom management Not contacting office for help until the situation has escalated Inflexibility regarding necessary changes to assignment Requesting to leave early if the teacher has a last block Conference

26 YOUR INPUT IS IMPORTANT Remember to let the Substitute Office know as soon as possible if you are experiencing problems on campus or with the AESOP system so we can determine how best to assist you.
