1 UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO MISSISSAUGA DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT SESSIONAL LECTURERS FALL 2016 SESSIONAL LECTURERS WINTER 2017 These positions are posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902, Unit 3 Collective Agreement The Department of Management has the following Sessional Lecturer positions available for the Fall 2016 (F) and Winter 2017 (S) terms and invites applications from suitably qualified candidates. All posted jobs are subject to the parameters as listed below: Posting Date: May 27, 2016 Closing Date: June 16, 2016 by 4:00PM Dates of Appointment: Appointment periods for F courses run September 1, 2016 through December 31, Appointment periods for S courses run January 1, 2017 through April 30, Salary (per 0.5 FCE): Effective September 1, 2016, the minimum stipend rate inclusive of vacation pay for a Sessional Lecturer 1 shall be: $ Effective January 1, 2017, the minimum stipend rate inclusive of vacation pay for a Sessional Lecturer 1 shall be: $ Minimum TA Support: 0.75 Hours (minimum) estimated hours per enrolled student Position Duties: The duties of Sessional Lecturers shall include the normal duties associated with the design and teaching of university degree credit courses or sections of courses. These include the preparation and delivery of course content, including lectures and/or seminars; creation of course ware; the development and administration of assignments, tests and examinations; the marking and grading of student work and the submission of grades to appropriate University officials in accordance with policy; the maintenance of reasonable hours of student contact outside of scheduled contact hours; and the supervision of the day-to-day work of any Sessional Instructional Assistants or Teaching Assistants assigned to the course. Minimum Qualifications: Sessional Lecturers are expected to be superior classroom teachers, with suitable academic and/or professional qualifications and with a mastery of the subject area. Successful applicants will typically have previous experience teaching the course in question, or very similar courses, and will have clearly demonstrated teaching excellence. 2 FALL 2016 COURSES F courses run September 1, 2016 through December 31, 2016 Course Code and Title MGM332H5F - Managerial Finance This course deals with financial valuation models, capital budgeting decision-rules, the problem of investment under uncertainty, optimal financial structure of the firm; the characteristics of debt, equity and other financial instruments such as options are also analyzed. Cases are used to develop critical thinking and communication skills. Topics include accounting's conceptual framework, analysis of business and financial statements, accounting for assets, and valuation of bonds. Exclusion: RSM220H1, MGAB02H3 MGT363H5F - Organization Design The course covers the relationship between design and effectiveness; the impact and determinants (environment, technology, competitiveness, size, life-cycle, communication needs) of an organization's form as well as the difficulties of re-framing organizations. LEC 0101 Thursday 14:00-16:00 Exclusion: WDW260H1 MGT412H5F - Special Topics in Management (Fixed Income Markets) Topics and issues in Management. Content in any given year will depend on the instructor. MGT422H5F - Information Systems and Technology, and IT Assurance Initially the course introduces core concepts in developing, implementing and using information systems in an organization, as well as the business issues that arise from the use of technology. The course then focuses on how information systems impact the audit process and the techniques that auditors must utilize in assessing IT/IS controls and systems. 3 MGT433H5F - Financial Management This course focuses on the application of modern financial techniques to operating and investing decisions. 4 WINTER 2017 COURSES S courses run January 1, 2017 through April 30, 2017 Course Code and Title MGM222H5S - Accounting Fundamentals II Management accounting reports aid the decision-making process by providing management with pertinent financial, as well as nonfinancial, information, such as product service costing information, information to assist in planning and controlling operations, and special reports and analyses to support management's decisions. Building on the concepts and skills developed in MGT353H5, the course focuses on the major decisions facing marketing managers in the attempt to harmonize the resources of the organization with the opportunities in the market LEC 0101 Thursday 18:00-20:00 MGT457H5S - Business to Business Marketing Business to business (B2B) marketing dwarfs business to consumer (B2C) marketing in terms of total transaction value. In this course we will focus on how B2B marketing is different from B2C marketing and how demand in the business market is derived from demand in the consumer market.
