1 Liberty Tea Rooms & Community Hub Volunteer Agreement & Brief You don t need any qualifications to be a volunteer, but we do expect all our volunteers to love our vision, to work hard, and be willing to grow. To volunteer at the Tea Rooms, the minimum expectation is at least one 4 hour shift every 2 weeks. We love to provide everyone in our community with an opportunity to be part of our team, however it is really important to us that everyone is placed in a role that they can succeed and thrive in. LTR can be a busy and demanding place to work and volunteer. We do our best to work with you through the induction process, ensuring you are placed in the best role for you. We always provide honest feedback and if you are unsuccessful at first, our doors are always open for you to re-apply in the future. Volunteer Induction Process Stage 1 - Application Complete an application form & hand it in to one of the team for the Volunteer Coordinator to review. Stage 2 Informal Interview/Decision We will arrange a suitable time to interview you using a set of related questions that are specifically aimed at volunteers. You will be interviewed by the Volunteer Coordinator. Stage 3 Trial Shift All volunteers carry out a trial shift, so we can see if we re placing you into the right role, and to see how you work with the rest of the team. This will be arranged at, or soon after, your informal interview. Stage 4 Confirmation of appointment We will aim to let you know if you have been successful or not by phone or within 3 working days. Stage 5 Volunteer Policy Awareness Before beginning your volunteer post with us, you will be supplied with a copy of the LTR Volunteer Handbook. It is important that you read this through before beginning working with us. This is to ensure you are aware of Liberty Tea Rooms & Community Hub Vision, Policies and Ethos as well as our protocols. It also gives you an in depth understanding of how our team works together. Stage 6 Probation Period You will have a probation period of 4 weeks or 6 sessions, dependent on which is longer. At the end of this period a mutual decision will be made as to the continuance of your role. However, if either yourself or Liberty Tea Rooms & Community Hub deem it necessary your placement may be ended sooner.

2 Team Meetings We have a team meeting on the 2nd Monday of each month. Your opinion is of value to us & we are always growing, learning and changing. It is important for you to attend these meetings. Reliability & Commitment It is very important that you are reliable and commit to any arrangements that you have made with us. shifts etc However, if your circumstances change, simply let us know as soon as possible so that alternative arrangements can be made. EXPECTATIONS We all work at our best when we know what is expected of us. We want to ensure that your experience with LTR is all that it can be and that we all get the very best from your time serving the community alongside us. We commit to: always treat you with respect, dignity and appreciation be encouraging, inclusive and non discriminatory to all support you as best we can to help you thrive in your role ensure that you have a clear understanding of your role & responsibilities encourage you to further develop your role through ongoing training and support provide opportunity for you to give honest feedback & input provide supervision and support provide training appropriate to your role provide public liability insurance for all volunteers update you on how your work has made a difference We expect our volunteers to: upheld excellent standards be familiar with and endorse the LTR Vision, Ethos, Values and Mission always treat staff & guests with respect, dignity & appreciation arrive ten minutes before your shift and be ready to serve our community act in a professional manner whenever you represent LTR be encouraging, inclusive and non discriminatory to all provide as much notice as possible if you intend to go on holiday, or you are unable to carry out your agreed shift If you have any concerns whilst being part of our team, bring them to the attention of the Volunteer Coordinator to follow the policies of Liberty Tea Rooms & Community Hub as set out by the Volunteer Handbook to attend and contribute to staff meetings/training to complete the delegated cleaning and due diligence tasks from the LTR Diary

3 Volunteer Roles Every day we have an amazing team of volunteers who ensure we open our doors and give the best experience to our guests. The shifts are usually 9:15-12:45, 12:45-4:15 and 11-3, however they vary depending on the role but are no longer than 4 hours. We have a team of Shift Leaders who are responsible for their shift, all our volunteers take day to day queries and problems directly to them. Our Volunteer Coordinator oversees the coordination of rotas, meetings and ensures all our volunteers are supported as best as possible, so we can help everyone succeed as part of the LTR team. Guest Relations Provide a professional and high class guest experience Respond to guests needs and anticipate their unstated ones To promote the Vision, Ethos, Mission & Values of LTR Ensure guests receive a positive and memorable experience Ensure all guests feel welcome and relaxed Promote all amenities, conveniences and programs offered Gather customer feedback and pass information on to management, to help maintain & improve standards Communicate clearly with LTR guests Ideally to possess prior experience in customer relations or hospitality Guest Relations staff are friendly, patient & enjoy talking to others Highly responsible & reliable with excellent professional presentation Able to assess the needs of others and use initiative to respond effectively to those needs Excellent communication skills and active listening skills Wait Staff Provide excellent customer service to our guests that promotes LTR s vision, mission, ethos and values Take orders and delivering them to the table efficiently and accurately Promote Daily Specials and the Soup of the day Work & engage with the whole team, promoting inclusion Advise guests on our menu options and beverage choices Clean as you go to ensure Health, Hygiene & Food Safety standards are met Deal with guest queries

4 Ideally to have experience as a server or wait staff training will be given Ability to work under pressure and to apply problem solving skills Display outstanding people skills and be patient and friendly Able to process the ordering system Cook Staff To prepare, cook and assemble food as per the LTR menu. This will include: Make up breakfasts, Daily Specials & Light bites to order Prepare, make and serve soup for the day To prepare and cook Scones Prepare & restock kitchen for use prior to start of Service Comply with Food & Hygiene Safety standards Wear full PPE & ensure ALL other kitchen staff do the same Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen Clean down and maintain cleanliness of workstations whilst in use Ensure all food and other items are labelled & stored properly Carry out due diligence: Waste Log, Freezer Log, start of day/end of day checks To carry out full clean down of kitchen: including empty bins, mop floor Must be confident to prepare & cook light bites & snacks Experience in using cutting tools safely, cookware and bakeware Comply fully to Food & Hygiene Safety standards Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and be part of a team Very good communication skills Ability to follow all protocols & procedures Level 2 Award in Food Safety is required - we can provide this. Kitchen Porter To maintain a clean and safe working environment in the kitchen To load & unload dishwasher & use other washing up facilities To ensure crockery & cutlery are safely & appropriately stored Ability and necessity to comply to Food & Hygiene Safety standards To assist Cook staff with food prep at the beginning of day Able to follow instructions Work at a steady pace, under pressure Work as part of a team

As such, our volunteer application forms are only available directly from one of our team at Liberty Tea Rooms & Community Hub. They ll be glad to assist you in filling it in on site over a cuppa, or you can take it away with you and return it. Our volunteers love being part of our team, many see it as a second family. They develop confidence, people skills and enjoy contributing to our local community. Working with a diverse group of people, from different backgrounds with different life experiences can be a challenge, our volunteers endeavour to work well as a team, encouraging one another and learning from each other. As with any job, volunter role, or experience you will get as much out of it as you put in. We rely on volunteers to be able to open our doors each day, it is their dedication and commitment that means we can fulfil our vision. We LOVE our team like a family! I love Liberty Tea Rooms & Community Hub because I have met a lot of people who are really nice and kind. When I started I was really shy, working at LTR has made me come out of my shell.
