This is an outstanding opportunity for a programs officer to support the work of Diabetes Queensland, a not-for-profit charity working to improve the health and wellbeing of Queenslanders. As part of the team, you will play a key role in the development, delivery and evaluation of our education and support services for people with Type 1 Diabetes. We seek a passionate and professional individual who is able to demonstrate: Exceptional interpersonal skills, with an ability to build and sustain strong relationships with all stakeholders. Experience in public health or project management in a health or social sciences or related discipline. Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of health programs and projects including program resources. Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work on multiple programs simultaneously An ability to work independently in a multi-disciplinary team. Well developed computer skills. Qualifications and experience A certificate IV in workplace training and assessment would be desirable for the position. The organisation is funded through membership subscriptions, community and state and federal grant funding. As a not-for-profit organisation, we strive to attract committed and hardworking employees who support a community-minded approach to implementing services and programs. We are proud that our staff share this philosophy and are committed to contributing a number of volunteer days across the calendar year to deliver the organisation s mission and key goals. Purpose of Position The purpose of the Type 1 diabetes programs officer is to coordinate two key programs focusing on education, support and networking for young people with type 1 diabetes, their families and carers Diabetes Basics and Kids Camps and Youth Activities. Diabetes Basics is an awareness and education program designed to educate and support schools in their management of students with type 1 diabetes. This program provides school staff and nurses with an understanding of type 1 diabetes and valuable information about the day-to-day management of diabetes. The project officer will coordinate the ongoing project development, implementation and evaluation in close consultation with the Diabetes Queensland clinical team and the communication team. The Kids Camps and Youth Activity program supports networking and improved selfmanagement for children with type 1 diabetes, their families and carers. This activity is supported through a grants scheme, whereby external health services and relevant type 1 support organisations can apply for financial assistance to deliver camps and activities in their own area. The Type 1 diabetes programs officer position will also support the organisation in engaging with and meeting the needs of stakeholders and assisting in other activities in line with the organisational structure and identified strategies.

4 Duties and Responsibilities Delivery of all aspects of project management, planning, implementation, reporting, evaluation and budget Coordinate internal and external resources associated with the delivery of assigned programs. Implement agreed plans according to program timeframes Monitor progress of projects to ensure that milestones and performance indicators are met, provide regular progress updates. Manage relevant financial requirements to ensure meeting of programs budgets. Engage and negotiate with key stakeholders. Consult with the Health team clinicians and Communications team when developing and implementing programs Support and coordinate additional health activities and projects as directed. Liaise closely with other team members, engaging in regular team meetings, demonstrating commitment to the team and contributing towards achieving organisational goals. Demonstrate knowledge of occupational health & safety, and equal employment opportunity and comply with associated organisational policies. 5 Key Selection Criteria 1. Experience in public health or project management in a health or social sciences or related discipline. 2. Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of health programs and projects 3. Proven ability to effectively manage program resources. 4. Well developed computer skills and capacity to work with website developers and data base managers. 5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write for a range of audiences. 6. Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to build and sustain strong relationships with all stakeholders. 7. Demonstrated ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary team under supervision of Health Team Leaders, including the utilisation of negotiation and conflict resolution skills as required.
