Background and contextual information VSO is an international organization that works with international and national volunteers at all levels to promote social change. VSO globally has 3 core approaches, one of which is Social Inclusion & Gender. SEGA is one part of the process towards achieving social and gender inclusion in VSO programing. Currently, VSO Kenya is implementing programmes focused on Inclusive Education (IE) and Empowering Youth for Employment and Entrepreneurship (EYEE).VSO Kenya is in the process of developing new programmes as well as looking at opportunities for future growth of these programmes. For this reason, VSO is in the process of conducting contextual analyses to provide much needed evidence for programme design and development to inform interventions that are transformative impactful in the long-run. VSO Kenya initiated a SEGA research in 2017 to inform VSO Kenya s strategic planning by determining whether its signature programmes are focused on the most disadvantaged in Kenya. The research examined broader categories of children, youth and women, and sought to facilitate the identification of subgroups which constitute the most marginalized and the priority needs of these subgroups.
