1 CHILD PROTECTION AND PARTICIPATION COORDINATOR Location: [Europe & the Middle East] [Jordan] Town/City: Amman Category: Child Development Position Title: CHILD PROTECTION AND PARTICIPATION COORDINATOR PURPOSE OF POSITION: The purpose of this position is to manage and coordinate the overall implementation of the ECCD component of the Canadian government (Global Affairs Canada GAC) funded World Visions Protection, Education and Renewable Energy (PEARE) Project, which aims at improving resilience of the Syrian refugees and host communities of Jordan impacted by the crisis in Syria. The project will be implemented in four governorates of Irbid, Mafraq, Amman, and Zarqa and has three outcomes in early childhood education, child protection and renewable energy sectors. The job contributes to reaching the PEARE objectives through an increased knowledge of teachers in child-friendly methodologies and of children in civic participation, child rights, and decision-making as well as increased physical and technical capacity of Government of Jordan child-focused ministries on child protection service delivery. This position is based in Amman with frequent travel to the field. Under the direct supervision of the PEARE Project Manager, and in collaboration with other program and operations staff engaged in PEARE, the Child Protection/Participation Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Child Protection component of the project ensuring that project activities are implemented as planned, meeting the desired objectives and goals within the designated schedule and the budget. The Child Protection/Participation Coordinator will have overall responsibility for the

2 management of day-to-day activities of this component of the project which involves rehabilitation of child focused municipal offices, training of child focused municipal offices in Child Protection, establishment of child parliaments in schools, training children in child participation, advocacy, provision of recreation materials to local municipalities among others. Major Responsibilities: Project Planning and Implementation: Oversee the implementation of the Child Protection and Child Participation component of the PEARE Project by ensuring that all inputs are coordinated and project activities are of technical quality; Effectively liaise and collaborate with the PEARE Project Manager, sector managers, specialists and coordinators at WVJ and seek guidance and support required for harmonized, effective and efficient coordination of all the child participation activities in the project. Support the implementation of the daily or weekly activities and conduct various field visits to the different areas of operations to monitor and supervise the progress of the work periodically. Provide oversight and coordination of a vast degree of technical details involved in the renovation of the child focused municipalities offices and play areas and establishment of their material base. Encourage and ensure the participation of all groups of children, especially children who are the most vulnerable in all Child Participation activities.

3 Ensure all activities and outputs are achieved in a timely manner, as outlined in the project timeline; keep track of timelines, outstanding tasks, upcoming activities; identify early warning signs and develop appropriate responses. Ensure efficient and effective implementation of supply and procurement requirements in line WVs internal procurement, logistic, financial and other policy and administrative processes as well as donor guidelines. Capacity building and training Participate in technical and other assessments of the capacity of local child focused municipalities to determine their suitability for partnership in child protection. Participate in the identification of existing capacity needs of local child protection actors and develop training materials and documentation required to deliver the programme. Assist in the provision of appropriate training for the local partners, child focused municipality staff including childrens parliaments in the schools on key child protection themes (child rights, child protection, child participation, and child led advocacy (including the Child Protection Policy). Work closely with and provide ongoing support, mentoring and coaching for local NGO partners of the project, community structures and law enforcement bodies in implementing project activities Partnership and networking Work effectively with the local and central authorities (as required); facilitate regular communication on the project implementation status/progress and challenges, if any.

Participate in WVJ meetings, prepare and present project progress reports based on regular site visits and information compiled in the field visits, reporting achievements and variances. Provide initiative in maintaining positive, constructive and supportive communication within the project team and with project shareholders Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting In coordination with the Project Manager and the Design, Monitoring & Evaluation (DM&E) team, assist in the development of clear monitoring and evaluation tools to measure the quality and impact of child protection and participation activities. Responsible for the oversight of the CP and participation component by ensuring that activities are monitored and delivered to a high quality in each site. Conduct regular data collection on the progress of the activities and indicators under the component to inform decision making and programming. Participate in internal and external project review, evaluations (if any) of the project, using these as opportunities to elicit and document achievements, most significant changes, challenges, learning and opportunities.

5 Child Protection Serve as the focal point for child safeguarding under PEARE, in accordance with the national strategies developed Ensure all programming follows WVs Code of Conduct and Child Protection Policy by increasing team capacity to disseminate and apply. Promote the protection rights of the vulnerable children by identifying key protection threats affecting the children participating in all the WV PEARE project activities. Comply fully and ensure compliance with WVs Child Protection Policy and code of conduct Any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor Education:BA/S or equivalent in social science, management, international development, or other relevant field; MA/S in law, international relations, human rights or other relevant field preferred but not necessary. Post graduate education training is an added advantage Experience:At least 3-5 yearsof progressive experience and proven high level of competence in working in child protection and child participation related programs, ideally in relief and/or postconflict settings in reputable institution, national or international NGO. Knowledge & Skills: Strong background in child protection issues (international law, human rights, child protection programming standards within development and the humanitarian context, national protocols, inter-agency working groups manuals and guidelines and approaches related to protection for children in emergencies context).

6 Good working experience in child protection systems strengthening, child protection advocacy and familiarity with core principles of children rights, child protection, participation, Do No Harm, as well as INEE minimum standards, Red Cross and NGO Code of Conduct is an advantage. Working knowledge of the logical framework approach to project design, monitoring and evaluation/ project cycle management. Excellent analytical/problem-solving skills and attention to detail in the development of written documents. Experience in training government staff and partners an asset. Mustbe computer literate, with knowledge and hands on skills with and in MS Office Word and Excel. Experience with Power Point and Project Management software is an asset.
