Executive Summary Introduction: Military/Veteran ERG s Mission Statement: The Military/Veteran Employee Resource Group provides a network that supports the professional/personal development of Active Duty Military Employees/Veterans at all levels, and works with management to advance the inclusion, retention and career mobility of Active Duty Military Employees/Veterans. In addition, the group provides insights to senior management on strategies to enhance the image of Cleveland Clinic in the community and become an employer of choice. Organizational Impact: The Military/Veterans Employee Resource Group will assist by fostering an inclusive environment that will enhance employee engagement and in turn drive patient experience. The Military/Veterans Employee Resource Group will serve as a catalyst for open dialogue between all caregivers. The Military/Veterans Employee Resource Group will partner with talent acquisition to brand Cleveland Clinic as an employer of choice for potential Military/Veterans caregivers. The result will be increased employee satisfaction based on relationships of trust, which in turn will benefit Cleveland Clinic in delivering Patients First world-class care. Individual Impact: The Military/Veterans Employee Resource Group fosters and celebrates diversity, which supports caregivers military experience allowing caregivers to bring their whole self to work. The Military/Veterans Employee Resource Group will assist caregivers to improve communications and build mutual understanding and respect among diverse groups, as well as to support Military/Veterans caregivers in the workplace. Community Impact: The Military/Veterans Employee Resource Group will be a catalyst and change agent within the community. The Military/Veterans Employee Resource Group has established itself as a key community partner through collaboration in implementing the Memorial Day and Veteran s Day which have been events open to the community. 3. Project Events or Activities: 1) Forums and programs that provide Military Veterans news and information and support regarding their employment at Cleveland Clinic and transition into civilian life. 2) Events that mark those days/times of the year traditionally associated with Veterans and the Military a. 3 5. Deliverables Events and programs that improve the recruitment and retention of veterans. 6. Project Complexity This is an initiative for both groups involving approximately 20 participants. Diversity councils meet for at least 1 hour each month to plan, implement and report on their progress. The council identified a location, garnered the support of the leadership at both sites, put together the team building activity and invited all employees. 7. Shares individual site goals and objectives. Removes barriers, provides resources, monitors progress and provides necessary tools and support when milestones are in jeopardy. Has overall accountability for the council. Responsible for establishing other leadership support roles, handles or delegates administrative duties. Leads the group in developing, managing and organizing the work plan, secures resources, assigns project work, and ensures successful completion of council initiatives. Periodically reviews membership and recommends change as needed. Members attend meetings, analyze and discuss information, provide feed back, make suggestions, develop initiatives, plan activities and execute.
