1 Job Description Director Social Inclusion Job title Location Reports to Staff responsible for Director Social Inclusion Sheffield, with frequent travel around the UK, mainly London (or, London based with at least two days a week in Sheffield) Chief Executive Head Social Inclusion direct report (with two Social Inclusion Managers, and a Social Inclusion Officer reporting into the Head) Date January 2018 Salary Director salary range 56,000 80,000 depending on experience. The successful applicant should expect to be appointed to the lower end the range. Director Social Inclusion We re looking for a dynamic Director Social Inclusion to drive the evolution and development our exciting and ambitious Social Inclusion programme. Designed to increase social justice and to reduce inequalities, our programme focuses on four areas: employability and benefits; financial literacy and resilience; health and wellbeing; and English language learning for people who are native speakers other languages. As with everything at Good Things Foundation, digital is key so social inclusion powered by digital is firmly at the heart our approach. Key responsibilities: Accountable for driving the evolution and development the Social Inclusion programme (working with the Social Inclusion team and Leadership)

2 Drive the development and sustainability new and existing partnerships to support the growth the programme. Accountable for the overall income target for the programme. Public speaking and other engagements that raises prile and communicates the Social Inclusion programme. Proactively engages important new partners at CEO/Director level. Acts as SRO for complex, high value or strategically important projects. Line manages the Head Social inclusion and strategic leadership the wider team. You are responsible for the overall success the social inclusion programme end to end developing partnerships, building funding bids, as well as ensuring effective ongoing delivery all projects within the programme. You are also responsible for the overall income target for the programme. You raise the prile the social inclusion work Good Things Foundation, giving speeches, reaching and influencing senior people in relevant partner organisations, and using blogging and social media to get your views and the views and work Good Things noticed. You are proactive and thrive in working with partners to help deliver our strategy. You lead your team well, so that you have the resources you need, and you collaborate with the leadership team to ensure the success the social inclusion programme and wider organisation. As a member the Senior Management Team (SMT) you will help to guide the strategic direction the organisation, ensuring its sustainability, and the motivation the team as a whole. You will champion the Good Things Foundation behaviours and effectively manage change. You will sometimes deputise for the COO/CEO in speaking opportunities and external meetings.

3 Key objectives and accountabilities Leadership Contribute to the leadership Good Things Foundation by being a member the Senior Management Team, influencing and supporting the development strategy development, performance management and championing Good Things Foundation s values and behaviours both internally and externally. Staff management Empower the staff you line manage to maximise their contribution to Good Things Foundation, by setting clear objectives, providing appropriate feedback, holding at least monthly one to one meetings, sensitively and effectively managing performance, ensuring they get the training and development they need and that they feel valued members the team. Support staff to be flexible and work within and across teams, to be entrepreneurial and innovative in their use technology. Corporate responsibility As a member the senior team, ensure that your work and that the team is always in the best interests Good Things Foundation and the Online Centres Network; support others across the organisation to deliver their objectives when needed and be proactive in identifying and addressing opportunities and threats to the whole organisation. Contribute to corporate business planning, reporting and take on cross cutting tasks as required. Accountable for your work to the Good Things Foundation Board, the wider staff team, funders, and the Online Centres network. Budget management Ensure the most effective use Good Things Foundation s resources and that all finances are properly accounted for by producing realistic and up to date budgets, being aware all income and expenditure accounts delegated to you and ensure all proper records are kept and processes adhered to as required by Finance. Strategic leadership the social inclusion programme Strategic leadership for the social inclusion programme that enables us deliver our Good Things strategy. Lead the evolution and development a coherent social inclusion strategic programme, collaborating with others. Accountable for the success the social inclusion programme. Reports to the Board on all strategy and performance for the social inclusion programme. Strategy and Partnerships You are responsible for the continuing evolution and development the Social Inclusion programme (working with the others in the social inclusion team and across the organisation) and ensuring new and existing partnerships support delivery the programme. Develop strategies for developing partnerships with organisations who may want to support the delivery the digital inclusion programme.

4 Income Generation Policy Make high level new partnership and income generation conversations happen. Proactive prile raising for Good Things and senior partner development (such as public speaking, networking, social media). Accountable for achieving the income target for the Social Inclusion programme. Secures partners who want to fund the Social Inclusion programme. Responsible for all proposals and bids submitted for the Social Inclusion programme. Works with Ministers and Senior Civil Servants to influence their policy thinking in line with Good Things Foundation s strategy and mission, and the social inclusion programme. Influence, and help develop and deliver the Public Affairs plan led by Head Marketing and Communications. Commission policy work from partners, agencies or consultants. Delivery Accountable for managing risks in the programme. Acts as SRO (Senior Responsible Officer) for complex, high value or strategically important projects. Resolves issues with sensitive or difficult partners. Ensure high levels performance, excellent relationship management and communication with partners and stakeholders, and efficient and quality assured delivery in line with Good Things Foundation s objectives. Person Specification Experience 3 5 years experience senior management in a organisation at least comparable size Experience driving social inclusion policy or projects and programmes, in areas such as social mobility, social justice, or equality. It would be desirable, although not necessary, to have experience in one or more the areas : employability and benefits; financial literacy and resilience; health and wellbeing; and English language learning for people who are native speakers other languages Experience developing, delivering and improving national services to meet identified need Experience contributing to the development strategy, business plans and organisational development Experience empowering staff to perform at their best and to develop to meet Good Things Foundation s long term needs Experience managing, monitoring and where necessary revising complex projects to meet organisational objectives and the needs the network

5 Knowledge and skills Good Things Foundation Behaviours Education and qualifications Proven success in delivering a wide range projects for, at least two : Government; Trust and Foundations; and Corporates Experience being accountable to funders, boards and other stakeholders for the delivery complex pieces work including reporting on progress, performance monitoring and evaluation Demonstrable experience contributing to the wider corporate needs an organisation beyond your immediate job description We work with a distributed network community organisations, the Online Centres Network, it is desirable (not essential) for you to have some experience in working with partners in communities to help you to deliver change.
