Overview It is increasingly accepted that older people need access to good, independent and impartial information and advice (I&A) to help them navigate an increasingly complex world and achieve housing that will suit them as they age, as well as any support or care they need. Elderly Accommodation Counsel (EAC) is a national charity that since 1985 has aimed to help older people make informed choices about meeting their housing and care needs ( It is committed to delivering a first class information and advice service directly to older people and their relatives and carers, and to raising awareness amongst other advisory agencies, professionals and policy makers of the importance people attach to information and advice which helps them make their own decisions about how and where to live in older age. With support from many quarters, EAC has been successful over recent years in gaining central government backing for a plan to try to create more coherence, bigger scale and consistent quality amongst providers of information and advice to older people, and to push the boundaries of I&A delivery by utilising new media and involving older people themselves in delivery.
