Training Vendrs: T Be Determined OVERVIEW Micr Dental Labratries (MDL) is a Califrnia crpratin funded in 1964 in Oakland. In 2007, the Cmpany merged with Dental Technlgies Inc. but retains its riginal name. MDL is a custm manufacturer f dental restrative devices, such as permanent and temprary teeth, implants, muth guards and diagnstic wax-ups. Custmers include small and large dental practices acrss multiple industries (general, csmetic, rthdntics, peridntics, sprts medicine) and dental schls. MDL emplys 221 individuals in Dublin where training will ccur. This is MDL s third prject but n substantial cntributin will be applied as the cmpany will nt earn mre than $250,000 within the previus five years see Active Prjects and Prir Prjects. 3 Training Plan Training under MDL s first prject cncentrated n Manufacturing Skills with a fcus n crsstraining specialized prductin techniques and perfrmance management as well as Cntinuus Imprvement techniques t prmte peak perfrmance. In their secnd prject, Manufacturing Skills training was prvided as the Cmpany shifted t autmated manufacturing using new sftware and new equipment. The installatin f the new milling and sintering (furnace) equipment was delayed. As a result, the training assciated with this equipment was nt delivered. The new equipment is nw installed and the training will be prvided in this prject. MDL must als keep pace with new technlgies, prcesses and prducts which will require training in rbtics and CAD/CAM. CAD/CAM is used t create the dental restratins using 3D technlgy specific t the patient. Rbtics is used t place the restratins int hard mdels t ensure custmized manufacturing t each patient. A new sleep apnea device is als in develpment and FDA apprval is expected in early Anther new prduct is the visiclear partial a new line f denture and denture related cmpnents. In additin, the Cmpany is upgrading its financial reprting and management system t reduce csts, and implement better prductin and inventry cntrls. The upgrade f the custmer relatin management system will track the full lifecycle f an rder will cut csts and prvide faster respnses t custmer requests. Althugh sme f the trainees may have been trained under the first tw prjects, training fr this prpsal is n new equipment, prducts, and prcesses. Training will be prvided in the fllwing: Business Skills: Training will be ffered t Administratin Staff, Supprt Staff, Technical Staff, Supervisrs and Managers in skills needed t implement business changes t supprt cmpany grwth. This training will als give emplyees the tls t prmte new business and new prducts as well as t service new industries. Cmputer Skills: All ccupatins will receive training. The training will include upgrades in sftware systems t supprt new prducts and prcesses. Training will be delivered t Technical Staff in a train-the-trainer prgram, extending training t all departments (key emplyees) in phases t align with their respnsibilities. Cntinuus Imprvement: Training will be delivered t key emplyees acrss all ccupatins. The training will enable MDL t remain cmpetitive and deliver a superir prduct that ensures precise integrity demanded by the dental industry in the areas f design and engineering, and fabricatin. Manufacturing Skills: Advanced prductin techniques will be delivered t a crss sectin f Prductin and Technical Staff in phases t supprt new equipment and prducts enabling the Cmpany t cntinue t grw while maintaining leadership psitin as a trusted supplier in the dental industry. 4 PL-Manufacturing Skills During Prductive Labratry (PL), trainees may prduce gds fr prfit as part f the training in the curses identified under the Curriculum. The trainer-t-trainee rati cannt exceed 1:10. The instructr must be slely dedicated t training delivery during all hurs f training. PL Manufacturing Skills (average 45 hurs per trainee) is needed fr Prductin Staff (up t 40 trainees) and Technical Staff (up t 41 trainees) t demnstrate the prper way t navigate and implement new and upgraded prcesses, perate new equipment, make needed adjustments t prcesses as different prductin issues cme up, change ver the equipment, and perfrm truble-shting. Certain functins are best perfrmed in a live setting rather than a simulated lab envirnment. Training will ccur under the direct supervisin f the trainer. The trainer-t-trainee rati will be 1:1 t 1:4. On rare ccasins, PL culd be up t 1:10. Classrm educatin will be fllwed by hands-n demnstratin by the trainer and hands-n practical skills by the trainee. The trainer will be present at all times until the trainee reaches cmpetency, which the trainer will assess by quality checks and cmparisn t cmpany standards. Trainers will be in-huse staff r vendrs (nt yet identified) wh are subject experts r specialists. In sme instances the trainer may be certified t a particular skill by an utside party where applicable. OSHA 10/30 OSHA 10/30 training is a series f curses bundled by industry sectr and ccupatin. It cnsists f 10 hurs f training fr jurneymen and 30 hurs fr supervisrs. Cmpletin f the training results in a certificate that expands emplyment pprtunities. T ensure that each trainee receives certificatin, ETP will nly cnsider payment earned upn cmpletin f the full 10-hur r 30-hur curse. As the Cmpany cntinues t grw it must implement structured safety prgrams in facilities, delivering training in OSHA 10 t Prductin Staff and OSHA 30 t Leads, Supervisrs and Managers.
