1 RSARCHR Resource Urbanisms: Natural resources, urban form and infrastructure in the case of Asia s diverging city models LS Cities is seeking a Researcher to support the research on the project Resource Urbanisms which is cofunded by LS Kuwait Programme. It aims to examine multiple aspects of how natural resources, urban form and infrastructure affect each other and potentially lead to the establishment of divergent forms of urbanism. The project s point of departure is the common assumption that cities and urban development are directly affected by the availability and costs of natural resources, and that in turn, different forms of urban development result in substantial differences in resource use. The project will primarily focus on the specific case of two natural resources, land and energy, and explore their relationships with city form, urban dwelling and mobility. The case study cities are Kuwait, Abu habi, Hong Kong and Singapore. The successful candidate will support the research objectives of the project, working alongside the existing research team. In particular, the role will involve desktop data/information collection and analysis, dealing with large datasets and completing detailed tasks/analysis of these datasets, possible liaison with external partners, and assisting with the preparation of reports. Candidates should hold a completed Master s degree in Geography, Urban Science, Spatial conomics, Urban Planning or a related discipline. We would welcome applications from Ph students in similar disciplines also. Research experience with both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis and the ability to work with large datasets is essential, as is advanced computer skills MS Office (particularly MS xcel and Word). The postholders will be based within LS Cities. In particular, the role will involve desktop data/information collection and analysis, dealing with large datasets and completing detailed tasks/analysis of these datasets, possible liaison with external partners, and assisting with the preparation of reports. uties/responsibilities Specifically, the post-holder will be required to: Research - Assist the members of the project in developing research related to the socio-spatial characteristics of the case study cities - Liaise with project partners and local institutions throughout the different phases of the research - Source data on online database systems, academic resources and commercial products worldwide, as required for the different phases of the project - Manage, analyse and interpret large datasets at the neighbourhood, city, metropolitan and national scales - Manage the systematising, storage and archiving of the data - Contribute to generating elementary analysis and visualisation of the data Writing and Information esign - Help design and produce visual graphics for project publications

3 - Assist with the writing and preparation of research reports and other publications Management and Coordination - Supporting team members to reach common goals - Participate in regular project meetings and project seminars when required - Contributing to the organisation of seminars and workshops, if required. - Managing project administrative activities, with guidance Liaison and Networking - Liaise with external researchers and other external partners. - Contributing to the life of the Centre - Undertake other tasks at the request of the Project Coordinator/Principal Investigator.
