3 Enhancing employee wellbeing Optum springboards are a series of one (1) hour awareness sessions developed by our senior psychologists. These sessions are designed to give employees a basic understanding of relevant issues whilst also reminding them about the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). The topics are specifically designed and developed based on our EAP data which identifies the main causes of concern for all employees. Benefits for your organisation Strengthens employee skills. 4 Enhancing employee wellbeing PERSONAL Maintaining a healthy lifestyle Living and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is about enjoying yourself without causing undue risk to your health, starting from a balanced diet to responsible use of drugs and alcohol, sleeping well and managing stress. This session explores the many ways that we can have a healthy lifestyle and reap the rewards. Work-life balance Do you often find yourself feeling overwhelmed with the juggling act between life and work? This session will provide you with some tips around how to manage your conflicting priorities more effectively and still have time to look after yourself physically and emotionally. PSYCHOLOGICAL Mental health in the workplace Depression and anxiety are two of the most common mental illnesses that can affect us, our families, friends and work. This session provides information about what depression and anxiety are, what to do and where to go if you are concerned about yourself or others. Stress tolerance The way we manage the demands in our lives can leave us either energised or drained. This session looks at the role of stress in our lives, how to recognise it, manage it and develop positive coping strategies to maintain a high level of resilience to the pressures of everyday life. The pillars of resilience If our lifestyle creates pressures with which our body and brain cannot cope, we can experience significant health problems. The challenge is to optimise our brain and body to cope with the environmental demands of both success and failure, so that you can maintain an enduring sense of wellness. This session will focus on strategies that support the four pillars; the Physical, Social, Emotional and Cognitive domains. Optum Springboards 4

6 Enhancing employee wellbeing PROFESSIONAL Adapting to change Our ability to adapt to change and cope with transitions greatly affects our wellbeing, overall happiness and satisfaction with life. This session will explore the thoughts that hinder our ability to successfully cope with change, as well as how we can learn to change or modify our thinking in a more productive way. Communicating effectively at work Effective communication at work means communicating with others in a direct and honest manner, finding the right balance between respect for yourself and others. This session provides practical strategies on how to develop and enhance effective communication skills at work that can be utilised on a daily basis. Making the most of your work day Are you envious of people who get everything done and still look relaxed and in control? In this session we will explore the tyranny of importance Vs urgency, the art of prioritisation, ways to battle procrastination and how to deal with perfectionist thinking styles. Motivation and morale in teams A motivating work environment enhances self-esteem and encourages better performance. This workshop explores the driving force behind individual motivation and provides techniques that can be utilised in enhancing and developing motivation and morale in teams. Conflict resolution Sometimes people don t always agree with each other and this is a normal part of working life. This session covers how to stay focused on the issue and prevent a disagreement from escalating, consequently maintaining and promoting a respectful environment. Optum Springboards 6
