What is its purpose? (around 25 words) Christian Aid is leading a partnership with 9 organizations for the DfID-funded BRACED programme in Burkina Faso, for 3 years (ending in December 2017) and an amount of GBP 7.3 million. The objective is to develop transformational solutions to climate variability & disasters for 1.3 M people in 4 provinces by improving climate forecasting, behavioural change & sharing resilience expertise & technology. Role context (What does the department do? Is the role part of a team? How big is the team and where does the job fit in? (An organogram is helpful here) A project management unit (PMU) has been put in place to ensure the coordination of the BRACED project by the ten members of the consortium. The PMU is made up of four staff. A director, a finance manager, a Head of Programme (HoP) and a Project Officer (PO). The PO provides general assistance and support to the HoP and ensures coordination and implementation of the BRACED consortium s advocacy and communication strategy. 1

2 S/he will specifically be in charge of monitoring our Knowledge Manager partner (KCL), identifying and capturing evidence and learning which will be used to communicate and advocate project achievements according to our strategy and action plans. Specifically; Coordinate the implementation of BRACED advocacy activities Support the implementation of advocacy actions as defined in the strategy validated by the consortium Ensure follow-up and updating of the consortium's advocacy strategy Support the production and distribution of reports and documents produced Liaise with the CA gender and advocacy focal points to plan and implement appropriate communication actions Coordinate the implementation of BRACED communication activities. Support implementation of the Climate Information Communication Strategy as defined and validated by the consortium Contribute to the writing content and regular updates for the website (blogs, intranet, etc.). Lead in updating BRACED social networks (Facebook, Twitter, professional website, etc.), Contribute to the production and dissemination of the full range of communication media (leaflets, brochures, posters, banners, press announcements...). Contribute to the production of success stories and newsletters Support to consortium member in organizing learning workshops, events and meetings on climate change issues Co-produce activity reports in support of the HOP. Take and write-up meeting minutes as requested. Act as the key link person with the CA BRACED communication lead based in Christian Aid s Kenya office and the Knowledge Manager Communication partner Contribute to the Programme monitoring and capturing Organize and update project documentation on regular and continuous basis onto SharePoint Develop and implement a strategy to improve the capturing of the main accomplishments of the project, along with general communication and visibility Review reports from consultants and/or partners as requested Support work to guarantee sustainability and expansion of project achievements through quality communication Support the HoP to design the final evaluation ToRs and support the carrying out of the same Other Perform other duties that may be assigned by the HoP and the Project Director Key outcomes (Between 4 and 6) Contribution to the implementation of the advocacy strategy Contribution to the implementation of the Climate Information Communication Strategy Contribution to the implementation of joint actions of the partners Contribution for the completion on required time the consolidated narrative reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis Assistance to the HoP to convene and facilitate programmatic technical meeting and other meetings with partners as required Effective capturing, documentation and visibility of project results Regular and periodic updating of key documents on SharePoint 2

Microsoft Office Proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ideally Publisher) and web applications Willingness and ability to travel throughout the country. Experience of working with major donors including DfID, USAID and EU Strong communication and inter-personal skills Excellent written and spoken French and English Desirable Experience in policy analysis, development work in the area of climate change/resilience and related issues Photography/video IT competency required Advanced 3
