2 Overview of Role The Essendon District Football League consists of 27 clubs and over 300 teams competing in open age and junior competitions. The Football Operations Manager shall be responsible for the efficient operation of the EDFL competition and interleague teams/competitions, whilst providing administrative support and guidance to the clubs and promoting the growth of womens/girls football. Professional Attributes Skills and Knowledge Competencies Tertiary qualifications in Sports Management or similar qualifications desirable, but not necessary. Excellent verbal and written communication and public relations skills. Demonstrated leadership skills. Strong attention to detail. Experience and understanding of football club and league environments. High level computer literacy skills. Preparedness to work extended hours including after-hours meetings and weekends during the football season. Personal Attributes Passionate about football. Proactive. Approachable. Self motivated. Strong Character. Team Player. Ability and willingness to work long and flexible hours. Current Drivers Licence Working with Children s Check or willingness to obtain. Page 2

3 Administration Apply EDFL Rules, Regulations and Policies as required. Maintain register of all accredited club officials and their relevant qualifications. Manage the receipt, recording and administration of all new registrations. Manage the administration of all clearances transferring to, from and within the EDFL. Ensure the maintenance and updating of all player records. Ensure the coordination of reports and tribunal hearings Manage the EDFL s Competition Management System (sportingpulse). Communicate information to clubs. Preparation of reports as required. Job / Task Profile Home and Away Season Oversee the conduct of all Junior (Underage) and Senior (incorporating Senior and Reserve grade and U18) football competitions for the EDFL. Liaise with and maintain effective working relationships with clubs, umpires and other stakeholders as required. Arrange annual fixtures. Oversee all match day paperwork and follow up as required. Maintain effective working relationships with TAC Cup partners Western Jets and Calder Cannons. Finals Provide assistance in the planning and coordination of the finals series. Negotiate usage and management of finals venues and facilities with local council, host clubs and other stakeholders. Coordinate medals/trophies for finals series. Arrange and manage staff/volunteers. Assist with required match day duties during finals matches. Interleague Oversee interleague program, including seniors and juniors. Negotiate the usage and management of venues with local council, host clubs, leagues and other stakeholders. Coordinate the appointment of coaches, match committees, managers, trainers, medical and other staff as required. Coordinate training venue(s) and other training requirements. Ensure all AFL Vic requirements are adhered to. Page 3

4 Job / Task Profile Resource support to clubs Assist club officials in the day to day management of their clubs. Communicate information to club officials. Establish strategies to develop the professionalism of clubs and improve their structures and processes to improve their viability. Miscellaneous Other duties as required. 5 Remuneration: Conditions of Employment An appropriate salary package to be negotiated with the successful applicant. An annual review process regarding performance will be undertaken. Superannuation of 9% to be provided, or as otherwise determined by state or federal government legislation. Annual Leave of 20 days per annum to be provided, or as otherwise determined by state or federal government legislation. An initial three (3) month probationary period will apply. Hours of Employment Whilst it will be generally expected that the incumbent will work from 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday, the incumbent will need to be flexible in regards to hours of employment. With particular reference to the football season, weekend work and out-of-hours attendance at evening meetings will be required. Page 5
