1 Maintenance Electrician External Vacancy Post Ref: Full Time, 37 hours per week. Permanent, 24, , per annum. Sunderland College is seeking to recruit an experienced and highly motivated individual to work as part of a busy Estates Team responsible for multiple campuses across the Sunderland area. With the introduction of our brand new City Campus we are looking for people with the right attributes and attitude necessary to manage and maintain the complex electrical systems used throughout. You will be flexible and customer focussed with excellent communication skills backed up with a good understanding of IT. Applicants should have at least 2 years post apprenticeship experience. Post Title: Maintenance Electrician Post Reference No: 5919 Department: Estates Grade: Contract: Full Time, Permanent Hours: 37 Location: Responsible to: Any College Campus Estates Maintenance Manager OVERALL PURPOSE: To work as part of the Estates Team providing an efficient, reliable, customer focussed service covering all aspects of electrical installation and maintenance activities. PRINCIPAL DUTIES: 1. To undertake all electrical installation, retrofit and maintenance electrical work required at all College Centres 2. To ensure the College electrical activities are completed in line with statutory guide-lines and codes of practice. 3. To provide and maintain data services as and when required. 4. To provide a managed approach towards the electrical maintenance of all College sites. 5. To ensure all electrical related documentation is completed to standard. 6. To ensure BMS / HVAC systems remain operational and within specification. 7. To undertake Portable Appliance Testing activities as and when required. 8. To ensure all work is carried out in a safe way at all times.

3 MAIN DUTIES: 1.1 To liaise with the Estates Maintenance Manager with respect to work schedules and rotas. 1.2 To respond to service desk requests for electrical works in a timely manner. To undertake all electrical installation, retrofit and maintenance electrical work required at all College Centres. 1.3 To diagnose and configure lighting systems via LCM s. 1.4 To fault find and repair door access control systems as installed at the various College sites. 1.5 To undertake work on electrical installations installed under current legislation together with those installed under previously issued regulations. 2.1 Ensure all electrical installations comply with the current version BS Ensure compliance with the IET Wiring Regulations at all times. 3.1 Undertake the installation of additional data points across the College using either cat 5 or cat 6 as and when required. 3.2 Fault find data circuits as and when requested. 4.1 To undertake periodic inspections / testing completing the necessary test certification in accordance with IET wiring regulations. 4.2 Plan and implement preventative maintenance regimes for all electrical items at all College sites. This includes emergency light testing stand alone or centralised configurations. 5.1 Ensure all paperwork is completed in accordance with the latest version of B.S Act as first point of contact for Building Management System (BMS) and Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) related issues, providing first line diagnostic support. 7.1 Undertake Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) as and when required, documenting test results as appropriate. 8.1 Ensure all PPE used is safe, fit for purpose, well maintained and utilised. 8.2 To be proactive in carrying out duties in accordance with Health and Safety at all times. 8.3 Ensure working practices for lock off and isolation are employed. 9.1 Work on own initiative across all College sites to ensure site availability for users. 9.2 Where required be prepared to respond to an emergency out of hours. 9.3 To follow the College s safeguarding procedures at all times and undertake compulsory safeguarding training. 9.4 To have due regard to, and take appropriate responsibility for, the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children and/or vulnerable adults and Prevent. 9.5 To uphold British Values, College values and responsibilities with regard to Equality and Diversity. 9.6 To understand and adhere to College Health and Safety policies and guidelines ensuring compliance with statutory legislation and best practice. 9.7 To carry out any other duties as required at any College campus, commensurate with the post and grade.

4 Person Specification Post Title: Maintenance Electrician (Post Ref: 5919) CRITERIA ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENT DESIRABLE REQUIREMENT Skills/Knowledge/Aptitude Ability to undertake electrical testing and inspection within a commercial environment Experience of data networks, Cat5 and Cat6 Capable of prioritising daily activities and demands Ability to act on own initiative, deal with problems as they arise Can work individually or as part of a team Good communication and inter-personal skills Competent IT skills, Microsoft Office A good understanding of Health and Safety within the workplace Qualifications and Training Time served apprenticeship NVQ level 3 or equivalent in appropriate electrical discipline A valid full clean driving licence Minimum Level 2 Maths and English 17 th Edition Electrically qualified (BS7671) City & Guilds 2391 or 2394 and 2395 Portable Appliance Testing qualified Experience Fault finding on building electrical components and plant systems Good technical background with an understanding of both electrical and mechanical systems Experience of installing / maintaining Cat 6a data circuits
