2 Introduction When taking the crucial step from accountant to a senior finance professional it is imperative that you are aware of the legal, regulatory and organisational context of arriving at a more senior position. In order to succeed you need strong interpersonal skills because technical skills alone will not be enough. This five day-modular programme has been tailored by finance and development professionals, and is aimed at understanding the important skills required to help deal with new and challenging situations faced by those aspiring to a senior finance role. You will be able to learn and test new techniques in a risk-free environment. Who should attend? There is a need to motivate your team when it is faced with large increases in workload such as acquisitions, systems implementation and year end statutory reporting. 4 Module 4 Module 5 Influencing, persuading and negotiating skills You will often have decision making powers for the procurement of various goods and services from outside suppliers and will have to negotiate the best possible deal. There are many situations when senior finance executives have to negotiate with internal stakeholders, not least in the budget process. Influencing, persuading and negotiating skills are essential for relationship building.
