1 NATCON 2018 BROUGHT TO YOU BY ISTD CHENNAI CHAPTER CORPORATE INNOVATION: STORIES OF INSPIRATION FOR SUSTAINABILITY AND GROWTH 8 th & 9 th June 2018 Hotel Hilton Chennai

2 The Conference : Corporations, operating for decades, employing hundreds of people, and making impressive revenue with, nowadays have advisors and newspapers informing them about new threats to their status quo.the threat comes from potential new entrants, sometimes in the shape of technology-driven start-ups, who are eager to find a better solution to their customers needs and problems and will take over their market share in no time. Young companies like AirBnb reach the 1 billion USD market value around ten times faster than traditional Fortune 500 Companies like Apple or Volkswagen. How do they realize such immense growth? They find better and faster ways of reaching, treating, and satisfying the customer and do not stop once they found one way. They continue innovating 24/7. So how would fortune 500 companies and other corporations cope with this change in momentum? The factors could be: new market dynamics influenced by globalization, shorter product life cycles, faster technology development, customization and many more industry specific movements. Also, innovation is no longer restricted to company operations and production of goods and services. Today, it also encompasses factors such as employee mental health, media impact and cultural influence. Changes that in the past, took decades, happen within a year today. They have to be addressed with entirely new strategies that allow for the needed flexibility in such a fast paced environment. However, the traditional companies have been succeeding in their business for years now. So does that mean these voices running around and shouting innovation are just creating bubbles of fear? Absolutely not. It rather means that the company s research and development efforts simply are not sufficient anymore. As the premium body for training and development in India, The Indian Society for Training and Development acknowledges this sharp change and its influence on today s economies. Therefore we present to you an initiative to bring together a confluence of minds from different industries to shed some more light on how various sectors are battling these issues.
