1 MANAGEMENT OF ORGANISATIONAL CHANGE IN AEROSPACE No.4 Hamilton Place, London W1J 7BQ, UK Supported by

2 MANAGEMENT OF ORGANISATIONAL CHANGE SYNOPSIS Change has been endemic in the aerospace industry from the earliest days but in recent years its pace has increased almost exponentially with mergers, take-overs, and restructuring becoming almost daily news. Nor has this trend been confined to industry; radical organisational change is also taking place in government with the creation of agencies and the growth of public-private partnerships and private finance initiatives. Thus managers must not only continue to cope with advancing technology but also operate in a rapidly evolving environment of organisational change. The aim of the conference is to identify the characteristics of the types of organisational change which are occurring and explore their implications for management best practice. Organisational change comes about as the overall result of a complex interaction between different drivers: advancing technology, competitiveness in an increasingly global market with the need constantly to drive down costs, changes in industrial relations and changes in society as a whole. The conference will open with a general paper to set the scene by reviewing what has happened over the past few years. This will be following a range of examples of significant organisational changes aimed at highlighting the most important contributors and the interactions between them. Finally a senior member of a major consultancy firm will draw together the most important lessons for management in the future. WHO SHOULD ATTEND? The conference should be of value to anyone in an organisation experiencing change or about to do so and concerned about how to survive. Synopsis Register on-line at

Challenges, such as rapidly advancing technologies, growing stakeholder power, changing consumer needs, stricter regulations, and the emergence of new competitive categories, to name just a few, put significant pressure on management to continuously formulate the right strategy that allows their organisation to deliver its objectives, meet stakeholders expectations, and maintain sustained prosperity. Key in this process is the translation of the strategy into a coherent logic that coordinates the myriad of organisational activities that align the organisation with the forces and opportunities in the new business environment. The workshop aims to provide a deeper understanding of this process for managers responsible for implementing organisational change, to offer insight into overcoming some of the barriers to change, and to give delegates the opportunity to reflect and learn from others experience in syndicate group sessions. 09: Management of Organisational Change Workshop Breakout Session 1 Drivers of changes: Assessing the organisational impact Breakout Session 2 Change initiatives: Overcoming the barriers to change PLEASE NOTE THERE WILL BE LIMITED AVAILABILITY ON DAY 2 WORKSHOP.
