This is a Local Government SETA-accredited academy that offers a variety of National Qualifications (NQF levels 1 to 5) registered with the South African Qualifications Authority. 8 GETC: ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICE (NQF level 1 SAQA #49552) AET candidates, operational floor staff, waste operators, municipal staff, water operators. This qualification is designed for employees and incoming employees in a business who need to understand and apply basic environmental practices within the workplace. Learners accredited with this qualification will be able to apply their skills, knowledge and values to contribute towards the wise and effective use and management of our natural resources and ecological systems. This qualification is ideal as an AET programme. This qualification is designed for employees and incoming employees in a business who need to understand and apply basic environmental practices within the workplace or who operate in an environmental/waste management field. It is specifically aimed at those employees who are or will be in a supervisory or team leader position. 11 NC: ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICE (NQF level 4 SAQA #50309) Junior managers, waste operators, municipal staff, junior SHEQ staff. This qualification is designed for employees and incoming employees in a business who need to understand and apply basic environmental practices within the workplace. Learners accredited with this qualification will be equipped to supervise a unit with regards to all environmental issues, including basic health and safety as well as ISO standards. 12 NC: ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT (NQF level 5 SAQA #66789) Managers, waste operators, SHEQ employees, sustainability employees. Any individual who is, or wishes to be involved as an environmental officer in the business sector. The qualification has a specialisation field in either waste management or water management. The qualification contains all the competencies, skills and values required by a learner who may wish to access a higher qualification within the environment sector. 13 Giving back: Social responsibility At SmartMatta Academy, we believe in giving back to our communities. One of the initiatives we support is the Lungisani Ndlela Trust. Through the sponsorship of schoolfees, we empower our youth - the future leaders of South Africa. SmartMatta provides bursaries for those learners who cannot afford to further their studies to gain a qualification. We regularly make a delivery of food, clothing and toys to the children at Lungisani Safe House. Educating the unemployed youth Fifty unemployed youth have embarked on a funded learnership with the SmartMatta Academy. These young people are provided with a free education, work experience and the opportunity to become employable.

14 Offer recognition of prior learning (RPL) What is RPL? RPL is the process whereby a person s knowledge and skills gained outside of formal learning processes are assessed and granted formal recognition.
