Job purpose Supporting the IT & Operations Director in developing and implementing the IT Infrastructure strategy, deployment roadmap, support model, infrastructure management tools, policies and procedures, working with the Director of IT & Operations. These activities ensure we continue to help enable the ongoing growth, efficiency and effectiveness of Mary s Meals, and all functions within the organisation. 2 Key activities Strategy and Planning Support the development and implementation of the Mary s Meals IT Infrastructure strategy, aligning it to the organisational strategy, adding value across functions, and reflective of the international nature of Mary s Meals Define, develop and implement the annually updated roadmap of projects required to ensure successful achievement of the strategy, ensuring successful, timely and financially viable project execution Develop the IT Infrastructure components of the annual IT budget for approval, and perform regular reviews and forecasts Ensure all systems and projects are chosen, deployed and configured to maximise benefits such as user effectiveness and efficiency Ensure IT security and compliance are strategically embedded across the organisation, and core to our systems, projects and initiatives Leadership Lead, inspire and develop the team including evolving the team s capabilities to meet the needs of a fast growing, international organisation Provide coaching, support and guidance to team members - ensuring team are high-performing, with personal development plans and reviews in place for all direct reports, to achieve great results Provide functional leadership for those responsible for IT in our overseas locations, to ensure process and system harmonisation and optimisation, where beneficial Ensure the IT infrastructure is modern, cloud-first, cost-effective, efficient, fit-forpurpose and user-friendly, where appropriate. IT Security & Compliance Lead on developing and deploying robust and appropriate IT security measures across Mary s Meals, to minimise risk of breaches Lead on the development and monitoring of Mary s Meals IT compliance requirements, including IT aspects of data protection, and ensure there are comprehensive and proportionate governance measures Operational Manage a large, varied and complex workload which will ensure the delivery of the IT Infrastructure strategy, roadmap and support needs Manage and optimise return from all partners and suppliers engaged with Demonstrate a pragmatic, hands-on approach where required throughout the work Use formal analysis and process improvement techniques to review current IT team processes, and end-user usage of IT infrastructure, to gain efficiencies Leverage IT management tools that automate routine support tasks where feasible Provision and optimisation of IT Service Desk services across Mary s Meals Job description: Head of IT Infrastructure 2

3 Perform role of Mary s Meals IT Infrastructure expert, and keep current with relevant technological and industry trends, to ensure we continually optimise the services IT bring to the organisation Develop and implement user-focused IT Infrastructure related policies and procedures, and internal team work instructions, that ensure proper and optimal usage of IT across the Mary s Meals family Ensure IT compliance to all statutory requirements in the UK and globally (working with international colleagues), while ensuring polices are aligned our values Ensure IT security is deeply embedded across the organisation Work with the Learning & Development team in development and deployment of training for Mary s Meals staff and volunteers in key IT security and compliance matters Management of self Continually identify opportunities for your own personal development, including keeping knowledge up to date and relevant to the team Other While not frequent, you may be required to occasionally travel to Mary s Meals programme or national affiliate countries. 4 Key relationships Reports to: Director of IT & Operations Internal relationships: IT Applications Lead IT Teams Leadership Team National Affiliates External relationships: Vendors and partners Peer colleagues in other organisations Direct reports: IT Infrastructure Analyst IT Infrastructure Technician 3 rd party partners Qualifications, skills and experience Proven experience of developing and implementing IT Infrastructure strategies, roadmaps, policies, procedures and projects Degree qualified in Computer Science or equivalent, with relevant post-qualifying experience and proven track record of strong results Significant relevant work experience, including effectively leading an infrastructure team. Creating persuasive business cases aligned to the IT strategy Managing a portfolio of projects using basic PRINCE2 and PMO principles, delivering to time and budget Broad infrastructure-related technical skillset and experience, including Service Desk provision Leading analysis and process improvement sessions around effective infrastructure usage, and scoping followon change projects Essential Desirable Job description: Head of IT Infrastructure 4

5 An excellent communicator with ability to easily translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders Passion for identifying new trends and technology, and narrowing to and deploying those of organisational value Implementing appropriate metrics for reporting on key performance and quality indicators Well-developed individual and team leadership, management and coaching skills. Effectively interact with a broad range of leaders and other stakeholders globally, with differing levels of IT experience Strong collaboration and relationship building skills Experience of evolving Office 365 across an organisation enhance usage and value of the suite Strong understanding and working experience of IT security requirements across an organisation Strong understanding and working experience of IT compliance requirements across an organisation Resilient, flexible and self-motivated - comfortable with a challenging, fast-paced, international environment Able to engage, motivate and influence internal and external teams. Experience of working in a charity/international development sector.
