Position Objectives Within the broad policy and strategic direction of Colony 47 Inc., as approved by the Board, the Professional Growth and Development (PG&D) Facilitator s role is to: Provide leadership, direction, support, professional supervision and coaching for staff and students across Colony 47 programs. Provide essential skills and knowledge, particularly in best practice crisis intervention, brief therapeutic interventions, and specialised intake and assessment frameworks. Work in conjunction with management and coordinators to develop practices and principles to support the professional development of staff. Provide critical incident debriefing to individual staff and teams immediately following an incident. Work in conjunction with managers and coordinators develop frameworks and systems to ensure self-care is a focus on an ongoing basis. Support change management processes as directed by the Colony 47 Board, CEO, Executive team and Housing and Homelessness Solutions Manager. Support the achievement of targets and reporting objectives of Housing Connect and other relevant programs. Develop and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders. Contribute to the evaluation of teams to determine program effectiveness and consistency of practice. Practice in line with Advantaged Thinking principles and support staff and programs to evaluate practice in accordance with Advantaged Thinking. Program Objectives Whilst the position currently sits within Housing Solutions, the Professional Growth and Development role also works with staff from the areas of Youth Solutions and Social Enterprise Solutions. 2 The program objectives for Housing Solutions are as follows: Colony 47 is the Southern Lead Agency for Housing Connect, providing intake, assessment and support services to all people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Southern Tasmania. Housing Connect is the primary entry point into housing and homelessness services throughout Tasmania. The Housing Connect team provides services across the fields of: Private Rental Access Support (PRAS), including: - Bond and rent assistance - Arrears support - Advocacy - Early intervention Housing and homelessness crisis intervention and support referral, including: - Provision of brokered emergency accommodation, goods or services to support the presenting needs of people experiencing or at risk of homelessness - Coordination of accommodation and support services for ongoing case management Social Housing assessment for entry into public and community housing options; Specialist youth and domestic and family violence response; Information, advice and referral. Annual Performance Review An annual performance review will be conducted using the Colony 47 Performance Management Process and is based on the Position Description. Work Review Records will be conducted at interim periods. The successful completion of both these processes is the responsibility of the employee and their manager. Human Resources Page 2 of 5

3 Enterprise Bargaining Agreement Employees are covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Industry Award 2010 and the Colony 47 Enterprise Bargaining Agreement Level of Responsibility and Supervision Responsible to the Housing Solutions Manager, however on a day to day basis the PG&D Facilitator will operate under limited direction and exercise a high level of autonomy. Responsible to the Housing Solutions Manager for general supervision and annual Performance Management Process. Required to report directly to the CEO and the Board through the provision of reports as required. Required to engage in external supervision or mentoring. Key Tasks and Duties (feeds into Performance Review Process) The Professional Growth and Development Facilitator has responsibility for working with staff to establish and deliver support and practice consistency processes within Housing Connect and other relevant services to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and the program performance measures, the strategic direction of the Colony 47 Board, CEO, Executive team and Housing Solutions Manager. Overall the PG&D Facilitator is responsible for: Service Delivery and Program Development: Provision of professional supervision and coaching to Housing Solutions and other Colony 47 staff as required, including development and implementation of systems, policies and processes forming a best practice supervision and coaching framework; Contribute to the development of individual staff professional development/training plans and in conjunction with program coordinators and the People, Culture and Capability Manager; Facilitate access to training opportunities to ensure individual and broader team-based practice improvement; Contribute to consumer engagement projects and consultation; Maintaining knowledge of best practice research, feeding into tender and grant proposals, program design, policies and procedures, and continuous quality improvement. Organisational and Team-Based Responsibilities: Contributing to the development and maintenance of a positive team culture, modelling organisational values and supporting program objectives; Support the financial sustainability of Colony 47 Services through coaching staff to appropriately and effectively manage program resources; Identifying and progressing business and program development opportunities, including the delivery of professional supervision and coaching services to external providers. Leadership: Support staff recruitment and retention; Human Resources Page 3 of 5

4 Support program coordinators to complete quarterly work reviews and annual performance reviews through feedback of relevant information such as completion of training, professional development, practice consistency and Colony 47 values. Position Requirements Knowledge: Knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge in Advantaged Thinking; Knowledge of and experience in Professional Supervision and Coaching practice principles; Knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge of the Amovita PASE Model and Strengths Deployment Inventory (SDI); Knowledge of The Privacy Act 1988, Children, Young Persons and their Families Act 1997 and other relevant legislation; Ability to acquire a comprehensive knowledge of policies, procedures, the organisational quality systems and services of Colony 47 Inc. Qualifications: Relevant degree or Associate Diploma with substantial experience; or Less formal qualifications with substantial experience and specialised skills attained through previous appointments sufficient to perform at this level. Experience: Highly developed skills and experience in delivering professional supervision; professional development and coaching and mentoring to staff across a range of programs. Experience leading service delivery teams within the community services sector; Experience in operating in an environment with high accountability and reporting requirements; Experience in contributing to the setting of priorities and achievement of organisational and individual aims and objectives within a team environment; Experience in reporting, research and program development. Additional Requirements: Current manual driver s license is desirable Required to provide a satisfactory Police Check Working with Children and Vulnerable Persons Registration Ability to travel intrastate. 5 Key Selection Criteria 1. Expert knowledge and understanding relating to assessment and case management principles; 2. Highly developed skills in staff supervision, coaching and training; 3. Highly developed interpersonal skills including conflict resolution, negotiation, liaison, motivational and representational skills; 4. Experience leading within a team environment; 5. Highly developed verbal and written communication (including report writing) and analytical skills; 6. Demonstrated capacity to display initiative by contributing ideas that support the strategic direction of the organisation and demonstrate behaviour that support Colony 47 values, the Code of Conduct and continuous improvement; 7. Demonstrated capacity to contribute to a positive team environment; manage own performance and development; manage performance and development of others and; demonstrate a commitment to managing diversity including Equal Employment Opportunity principles; 8.
