1 Business Development Facilitator- Babati Cluster Location: [Africa] [Tanzania] Town/City: Babati Category: Food Security & Livelihood Purpose of the position: This position aims at providing leadership and support on the implementation of business/economic development aspect. The objective of the assignment is to Strengthen the management and business capacities of farmer organizations here in referred to as producer groups/associations, to meet improved business management requirements. This will include increasing their business capacities concerning group management, business management, marketing, sustainable production and natural resource management and external relations. Increasing the capacity of farmers organization to offer or support their members access and use locally available Business Development Services (BDS) and financial services particularly with regard to agro-finance, agro-technical aspects and business management. Impart families with business management and entrepreneurial skills that can assist them to operate competitively in terms of household level financial management capacities, producing quality products at reasonable cost with best marketing strategies. Project Models include SG, HATA, HISF, JESCA. The intended tailor made trainings on

2 internal competences of households and to increase their capabilities to explore, exploit available resources and opportunities; to operate and manage productive activities profitably and competitively, thereby contributing to the households economic growth and poverty reduction. Main Duties/Responsibilities: Provide Support to SAFe Pamoja Project in planning, designing, monitoring and evaluating livelihood and economic development interventions. Performs financial analysis and full economic potential of a project; Assists potential customers to prepare financial projections prior to funding, including cash flow projections to determine the profitability and financial viability of proposed projects; evaluation of cash flow needs (Provide support to Producer Groups to develop Business Plans and link them to financial institutions.). Provide Support to Producer Groups to improve their business management skills Provide inputs into the overall donor proposal development and conduct case studies related to marketing and sustainable livelihood and economic development. In collaboration with Resilience and Livelihood Specialist and Market Facilitator, facilitate the conceptualization and development of marketing project interventions using different project Models. Work closely with Producer Association to build their capacity on business management and in collaboration with the market facilitator integrating different

3 market-driven approaches and support them to identify opportunities for replication and scale-up within the existing model. Support the monitoring of the quality of project delivery within the framework of the overall programme strategy. Develop and use innovative approaches to monitor and evaluate performance, effectiveness/impacts of Marketing interventions and document lessons learned. Build and maintain cordial relationships with the LGA and other stakeholders to ensure their cooperation and smooth implementation of the Marketing component at Producer Association level. Conduct frequent socio-economic monitoring of the project area with a view to generate analytical information about project implementation. Build on the synergies that may be identified during project implementation stage. Facilitate the capacitated Producer Associations linkage to sustainable marketing opportunity to enhance smooth and systematic selling of their produce Participate in networking meetings and guide members in obtaining mutually beneficial and optimal ways to enhance livelihood activities. Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

4 Bachelor Degree in Agriculture Economics or Agribusiness with B.A in Business Administration similar from an accredited University Working experience in the area of local economic development /livelihood development, SME development, evidence on personal engagement and development/implementation of business plans and private sector engagement. Experienced in community mobilization and group formation Prior experience with the World Vision system would be an advantage Outstanding communication, project management and organizational skills Familiarity with the working environment and professional standards of international organizations Working experience with Institutions involved in sustainable development/ community empowerment/ natural resource management Experience in working with NGOs and civil society, and with participatory approaches Strong conceptual and research/analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically and to rapidly analyze and integrate diverse information from varied sources into conclusions and recommendations Substantial knowledge of Socio-Economic Development In-depth practical knowledge of inter-disciplinary development issues
