This role currently oversees multiple educational committees, negotiations with two bargaining units, Family Medical Leave, staffing needs, and the evaluation process for the District. Please see the attached job description for more details. Job Summary: Compensation will be assigned based on experience using the Administrative Handbook salary range. Qualifications: Experience in an educational leadership position and Human Resources is preferred. OTES and OPES credentialing is required or the ability to obtain such credentialing. 2 Princeton City School District Job Description Job Title: Director of Human Resources Full Time (12 month 260 day employee) Reports To: Superintendent FLSA Status: Administrator Revised Date: April 2, 2009 JOB GOAL The Director of Human Resources ensures that departmental systems, which are in place and operational, maximize student access to the most optimum education experience available within the guidelines of the school district and state regulations by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Does keep, maintain and use accurate, complete and up-to-date personnel records and forms. Does attend Cabinet and Board meetings and advises the Superintendent on all personnel matters. Does plan and direct a program for selection, hiring, and assignment of the best qualified personnel. Does develop and maintain effective contact with college placement offices as it pertains to student teacher placement. Does establish total learning and experience levels of prospective employees prior to their placement on the salary schedule and interpret salary to the employee. Does maintain accurate and current information on salaries, staff communication, practices and procedures and evaluation practices. Does develop, interpret and administer personnel procedures. Does maintain knowledge of state certification & licensure law. Does confer with supervisors and principals about teacher and support staff evaluations. Does administer the evaluation program for support and professional staff. Does advise staff on a course of action related to personnel and other school concerns and situations. Does screen with assistance from other administrators, candidates for promotion, and/or additions. Does distribute informational materials to new employees. Does work with instructional programs department and building principals on staffing needs. Does recommend to the superintendent all staff assignments, transfers, dismissals and promotions. Does plan and direct staff relations program that would resolve differences before they evolve into grievances. Does supervise the development and distribution of district staff directory. Does negotiate Union contracts on behalf of the Board of Education. Does work with pupil personnel department on enrollment projects.

3 Does confer with immediate supervisor and other administrative personnel regarding tenure recommendations prior to submitting them to the superintendent. Does process applications for paraprofessional permits, student activity permits, and teacher certification. Does help building principals and supervisors to determine the training and development needs in their buildings or departments to improve quality of job performance. Does oversee the evaluation of all staff in the district. Does train building administrators on the professional staff evaluation program and the support staff evaluation program; coaches them on the use of both systems. Does oversee the teacher mentor and peer collaborator programs. Does oversee Food Service, Maintenance and Bus Transportation to ensure smooth operations. Does oversee the acquisition of all substitute employees and the training of substitute teachers in particular. Does prepare competitive civil service examinations for positions in the classified service including the establishment of eligibility lists containing the names of persons qualified for appointment to positions in the classified service. Does prepare and amend classification descriptions, in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Sharonville Civil Service Commission and the Princeton Board of Education, including classification titles and identify the necessary qualifications of the various classifications of positions with the school district. Does actively participate in regional personnel director meetings and activities. Does maintain up to date knowledge of technology utilized by the district as it relates to human resource functions. Does maintain open and pro-active communications with the unions represented in the district. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district s policies and negotiated agreements. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Must have at least three years experience in public administration and supervision. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and administration. Ability to read, analyze and interpret testing and survey results, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, agencies, teachers or members of the school community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to administration, staff, public groups, and/or Board of Education. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory based on school objectives. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication. Ability to use computers where applicable. Ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies.
