2 CONFERENCE SCHEDULE TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6 9:00 a.m. Conference Registration Opens 9:30 a.m. 12:00 p.m. Direct Diversion Training Session: How to be Successful in the Direct Diversion Processing Program Presenters: Randy Jones, Claire Nagel, and Alex Zitske, DPI USDA Foods and Procurement Team This breakout session will discuss a variety of topics pertaining to the Direct Diversion Processing Program. Presenters will cover: Procurement Basics: applying applicable procurement methods and standards to procure direct diversion end products; Procurement Planning: the development of market baskets of products for your RFB or RFP; how to calculate the bulk pounds of USDA Foods to commit; Indirect procurement or direct procurement: the differences and which is the best option for your procurement process; Contract Management: tips and strategies on managing your bulk pounds at processors; Procurement Administrative Reviews: the review process for products obtained through your direct diversion processing program. This session will be interactive, and there will be ample time for sharing helpful tips, as well as time for questions and answers. 3 CONFERENCE SCHEDULE WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7 8:15-8:30 a.m. Welcome, Leader Introductions and Opening Remarks 8:30-9:00 a.m. Breakfast Presentation - No Kid Hungry Presentation and Networking DPI, Milwaukee Hunger Task Force, and Share Our Strength (No Kid Hungry) are interested in assisting WI in improving breakfast participation. Join us for this session to learn more about the initiatives taking place around WI and hear more about the state plan of action (and if there is any potential funding available to districts). 9:00-10:30 a.m. Managing Personalities and Conflict Presenter: Becky Landes, Food Service Director, Manchester Community Schools, North Manchester, Indiana Besides managing the busiest kitchen(s) in our community, we are also responsible for managing the human resources needed to keep things cooking! This workshop will share strategies and techniques for working through one of the toughest parts of the job, managing personalities and conflict. Through this session, attendees will: Identify the role personalities and bias play in conflict. Explain the difference between implicit and explicit bias. Compare and contrast the four most common generational groups as they relate to conflict management/resolution. Explain the importance of clear goals and purposes. Recall at least two factors that can impact the outcomes of conflict. Describe at least three problem/non-productive behaviors and the related management techniques. 4 FEATURED SPEAKERS BECKY LANDES Becky Landes is the current Food Service Director for Manchester Community Schools in North Manchester, Indiana. Becky has been with Manchester Community Schools for the past 16 years. Becky is involved with Indiana Farm to School Network as a member of the Procurement Committee, she is currently a member and past vice-president and past president of the HPS Indiana School Food Advisory Committee, a member of the Northeast Indiana Region 8 Education Center s- Food Service Directors Cooperative, she has been a Lead Mentor and presenter for ICN s Team Up for School Nutrition Success, and is a member of the School Nutrition Association.
