KOC CEO Jamal Jaafar, a number of DCEOs, and other senior officials from both companies attended the event that was held at the Ahmad Al-Jaber Oil & Gas Exhibition. Ma an Al-Razouki, head of Schlumberger for the Middle East, also attended. During the event, DCEO Exploration & Gas Menahi Al-Anzi delivered a welcoming speech and upheld the importance of the partnership with Schlumberger and its notable results. Kibsgaard also delivered a speech expressing his happiness and pride of the inauguration, and he also expressed his Company s intent to carry on with this cooperation. Jaafar and Kibsgaard then honored contributors to the project, which started in 2016 to establish three Jurassic production facilities in Sabriyah and Um Naqa Fields, NK. Within the span of just two years, the facilities started production, where the highest HSE standards were met after registering more than 10 million hours without injuries. 2 2 KOC CEO Attends UD Induction Program Organized by the Training & Career Development Group KOC CEO Jamal Abdul Aziz Jaafar recently attended the final day of the induction program for new UD university graduate employees, which was organized by the Training & Career Development Group over the course of one week. In a statement he made, the KOC CEO upheld the importance of perseverance and commitment to work in order to achieve the Company s strategic objectives as they relate to the 2040 Strategy. He maintained that the new employees are the future of the Company and the most important element in achieving its future goals. Jaafar also encouraged new employees to innovate in their daily work through the use of technology, adding that they will play a critical role in the Company s history if they succeed. The CEO also noted the importance of new employees adhering to KOC s HSE commitments. He then concluded his speech and answered questions from the UDs, who took the opportunity to learn more from the KOC CEO about the Company and their roles within their respective departments. Those in attendance included DCEO Administration & Finance Imad Sultan, T&CD Group Manager Qusai Al- Amer, TL Training Competency Bashar Al -Khashti, and a number of staff members of the organizing team. The aim of the program is to familiarize new employees with the functions, structure and departments of the Company. The new employees were also briefed on KOC health, safety, security and environmental regulations.

3 3 Kuwait Society of Engineers Delegation Visits KOC DCEO R&T received the delegation at the Main Office DCEO R&T Abdullah Al-Sumaiti recently received a delegation from the Kuwait Society of Engineers at KOC s Main Office. During the meeting which was attended by several managers, both sides discussed means of enhancing collaboration, especially in terms of accreditation of engineering degrees. This will be accomplished via a mutual committee to execute certain mechanisms aimed at streamlining the process. In a speech he made during the event, Al-Sumaiti praised the role of the society in the domains of community service and engineers qualifications, which go a long way in helping to develop the engineering field in Kuwait. He also indicated the need to raise the coordination levels between the two sides to support the Kuwaiti economy, which counts on oil as its mainstay. Society President Faisal Al-Atal, Society Representative to the GCC Engineering Union Al-Mohannad Al-Shamri, and Training Center Head Engineer Anas Al-Hudaib represented the delegation. NK Directorate Organizes Beat Plastic Waste Pollution Campaign Campaign held in parallel with the UN World Environment Day As part of its observation of the UN World Environment Day, and under the sponsorship and presence of DCEO (NK) Nayef Al-Anezi, the NK Directorate organized an Environmental Awareness Campaign which focused on plastic waste titled: Beat Plastic Waste Pollution. In a speech he made during the campaign, Al-Anezi highlighted the fact that every individual can contribute to managing the serious environmental issue of excessive plastic waste by informing themselves of the dangers of unnecessary plastic usage in our daily activities. Through awareness and the changing of our behaviors, individuals can have a longterm positive impact on the environment, Al-Anezi said. Meanwhile, TL HSE (NK) Ahmad Qabazard maintained that an enormous amount of plastic waste is generated across the globe on a daily basis, most of which are from single-use non-biodegradable disposable materials. This is leading to a significant percentage of total landfill volume, ocean pollution and above all, environmental hazards to animals, birds and fish. The participation of KOC employees during the event was viewed as a positive signal that the campaign s message was effective. Speakers from KISR (Dr. Sultan Al-Salem), the Metal & Recycling Company (Sherif Shawki) and the HSE Group (Mohammed Taha Nassar) presented three interesting presentations on the subject matter. Finally, DCEO (NK) Nayef Al-Anezi awarded all presenters with special plaques which commemorated their valued participation in the campaign.

4 4 KOC Honors the Public Authority for Civil Information For their recent efforts in an awareness campaign Financial Accounts and Services Group Manager Khalid Al-Ajmi and Employee Accounts Team Leader Wafaa Al- Athab recently represented KOC and honored the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) for their recent efforts in an awareness campaign which covered Civil ID pin code activation. PACI, which was represented by Deputy HR Manager for Civil Registration Ali Al-Ghorba, made great efforts during the recent event dedicated to distributing and activating the Civil ID pin code, which will aid in obtaining salary certificates automatically for KOC employees through special kiosks, as well as To whom it may concern letters. The honoring also included staff from both sides who attended the event, and made sure the distribution went smoothly and successfully at the Union Center in Ahmadi over the course of five days. Consolidated Partnership Advisory Council Holds 5 th Meeting Several topics discussed, including past achievements The Consolidated Partnership Advisory Council of the Oil Sector, which is currently chaired by KOC, recently held its fifth meeting in the VIP Room at the Ahmad Al-Jaber Oil & Gas Exhibition. Deputy Chairman of the Board and DCEO Admin. & Commerce at Kuwait National Petroleum Company Basem Al-Issa chaired the meeting. Representatives of the oil sector companies, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the General Authority for Industry attended the meeting. The participants discussed a number of topics on the agenda, including achievements of the Council between 2009 and 2018, the results of a study on the possibility of unifying the contracts of the oil sector companies, the expenditure of local content on Al-Zur Project, the response of Fatwa and Legislation Authority on the preference of the local product and a number of related issues. It is worth noting that the Council, at its previous meeting, discussed KOC s experience in supporting Kuwaiti employees as contractors, the proposal to hold an instructive meeting with the owners of small and medium enterprises, and the adoption of the proposed work plan of the Council for 2018/19.

5 5 Delegation from the Ministry of Electricity and Water Visits KOC Visit aimed to showcase KOC s performance and access to global standards As part of the continued exchange of best practices between KOC and government agencies, the Quality Assurance & Business Improvement Team recently organized a new visit for a delegation from the Ministry of Electricity and Water to some of the Company s facilities. The visit aimed to demonstrate KOC s accomplishments in the field of performance development and access to global standards. The visits included tours of the laboratories of the Export Operations Group and offices of the Quality Assurance & Business Improvement Team. Team Leader Rima Al-Awadhi accompanied the delegation and delivered a presentation on the activities of the team. In addition, the delegation listened to an explanation on work regulations, standards and procedures that enabled the Company s workshops to develop and upgrade performance and comply with ISO 14001/18001 certification standards. The delegation expressed its admiration for the Company s achievements and expressed their desire to further develop cooperation between the two sides. Head of the Supreme Committee of Mechanical Maintenance Power Stations, Eng. Mohammad Al-Shamali, was accompanied by a number of senior officials from the Ministry, including Eng. Ahmed Askar from Doha West Power Station and member of the Environment Committee of the Ministry of Electricity and Water. Field Visit to Inspect Operation of Casing While Drilling Technology Applied for the first time in collaboration with Schlumberger A delegation from the Development Drilling & Workover Team (V), led by Team Leader Dakhil Al-Enezi, recently made a field visit to Rig SP-295 in Al-Rawdatain to inspect the operation of state-of-the-art technology known as Casing While Drilling. The Company applied this technology for the first time in a number of wells, having ascertained that it helps to develop and increase the speed of drilling in oil wells and reduces the hazard ratio during drilling operations. This sophisticated technology poses a challenge to the Company to improve its drilling mechanisms. The technology is part of the integrated drilling system (IDS-IPM) project that the Company has been operating since 2016 in collaboration with Schlumberger. On the sidelines of the visit, a workshop was held which was attended by Senior Engineer Talal Al-Wehaidah and a number of specialists, as well as staff from Schlumberger. 6 6 KOC Organizes 2018 Ramadan Competitions More than 3,700 employees participated KOC recently organized Ramadan competitions for 2018, which witnessed the wide participation of employees in all departments of the Company. This year, the two competitions included the Ramadan competition and the Ayyam Awwal heritage competition, which included daily questions broadcasted via an electronic link to the Company s portal. Manager Public Relations and Information Group Mohamad Al-Basry attended the draw for the first week. The total number of participants during the four weeks was 3,785, including 2,118 in the Ramadan competition and 1,667 in Ayyam Awwal. The competitions included 38 questions over four weeks, each of which had six winners (24 winners in total) as follows: Winners of the first week: Talal Khalifa, Hamad Madani, Khalid Sheikh, Abdullah Al-Shamali, Ayman Hammad and Saleh Hassan. Winners of the second week: Safi Al-Tawalba, Ali Al- Qallaf, Dana Talib, Amira Imam, Walid Al-Qailani and Fatima Al-Enezi. Winners of the third week: Sheikha Al-Turki, Omar Kandil, Zainab Hassan, Abdulaziz Ali, Reem Awayed and Nasser Al-Azmi. Winners of the fourth week: Mohammed Maatouk, Rehab Al-Marsi, Salem Al-Rashidi, Abeer Al-Ali, Khaled Al-Zoabi and Wafa Sheikha. KOC Holds HR Upstream Collaboration Best Practices Meeting Organized by the T&CD Group to develop Benchlearning Culture In the last four years of the Training & Career Development Group s APQC Corporate membership, many tangible and intangible benefits have been reported which support the strategy in developing a Benchlearning Culture. Based on significant benefits and the return on investment identified by using APQC membership in KOC, this practice was shared during the HR Upstream Collaboration Best Practices meeting, where the HR management of KGOC and KUFPEC communicated their interest in replicating this practice. Moreover, a win-win collaboration approach has been utilized with APQC to agree on a solution for a mutually beneficial result. Therefore, KOC s APQC membership benefits are extending to KUFPEC and KGOC s domains. A kick-off meeting was coordinated between the three K-Companies, where Manager T&CD Qusai Al-Amer laid down the details on how the sister companies will receive the most benefits from this membership. In addition, he shared the tangible benefits experienced by KOC. Two workshops were conducted by Dr. Olimpia Salas Guzman which explained the process behind the implementation of APQC membership and how to benefit from the unrestricted access to all AQPC products.

7 7 MS&R Team Organizes Mechanical Sealing Technology Workshop In collaboration with German company EagleBurgman The Maintenance Support & Reliability Team (S&EK) recently organized a Mechanical Sealing Technology Workshop. The workshop, which was conducted by leading specialists from EagleBurgmann, a German Academy, aimed to share leading technological knowledge on mechanical seals, as well as to improve the maintenance repair philosophy on mechanical seals installed in the S&EK area. During the first four days, the workshop focused on handson demonstrations of disassembly and assembly of multiple seal designs, while the final day involved a site visit to the EagleBurgmann facility to acquaint KOC employees with the special equipment and tools used for mechanical seal repair and upgrade work. At the facility, KOC employees were also able to view the inventory and storage handling of the seals. The workshop is part of the continuing knowledge sharing and support activities provided by MS&R to all Maintenance Teams in the S&EK Area. HR Group Deploys Automated KPI System To enhance the quality and practices of the KPI system Striving for excellence is an important part of professionalism and Human Resources Group has constantly taken the initiative to develop innovative practices for performance improvements. To enhance the quality and practices of the KPI system, the Human Resources Group in collaboration with the Planning Group has automated the KPI system and conducted several awareness sessions throughout the Company during the months of May and June This was a primary stepping-stone delivering user guidance to Managers, Team Leaders, HR Assets, Planning Coordinators and all employees across KOC (grade 16 & above). The Automated KPI System has been developed and the new KPI Framework will result in significant qualitative as well as structural improvement. In a statement it made, the Human Resources Group said it wished to extend its gratitude to all active participants, members of the Planning Group, HR Group and supporting teams that contributed to ensure the success of this event.

8 8 Tree Planting Campaign in Burgan Organized by the Technical Services Operations Team & HSE Team (S&EK) The Technical Services Operations Team recently collaborated with the HSE Team (S&EK) to organize a tree planting campaign at their temporary work site in Burgan. The event was held to commemorate World Environment Day, where the Technical Services Operations Team representative and Senior GIS analyst Faisal Al-Bous delivered a speech affirming the Team s intent to maintain the environment, especially when considering employees offices are located in an oilfield, exposing them to gases resulting from crude oil production. This fact encouraged them to conduct this initiative for the area. Moreover, HSE Team representative Ahmad Al-Tawari, Environmental Engineer, also delivered a speech upholding the pivotal role of the Team in maintaining the environment by getting rid of pollutants. The campaign included the planting of several types of trees and bushes that enhance the atmosphere and protect the work location. KOC Employee Wins SPE Rocky Mountain North America Regional Competition Mohammad Al-Ghanemi wins in the Best Research Category In a new accomplishment for KOC, Reservoir Engineer Mohammad Al-Ghanemi from the Reservoir Management Group won the SPE Rocky Mountain North America Regional Competition in the Best Research category. Al-Ghanemi is currently finishing his specialized study for his master s degree from the Colorado School of Mines. The competition focuses on various technical papers and academic research, which is reviewed by a panel of experts. Al-Ghanemi won the competition after fierce competition with several participants after presenting a research paper titled: Chemical EOR Economic Feasibility for a Multi-Well Pilot Sector of Sabriyah Lower Burgan Reservoir.
