1 President /CEO Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce: This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced economic development and/or Chamber professional. Pompano Beach has a strong and diversified economy. Our organization is very successful and our location is great for businesses and economic development! This position requires five + years of extensive economic development experience and a Bachelor s Degree. Chamber and workforce development experience is important. This is the leadership position for the Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce. The position reports directly to the Boards of Directors. The CEO is responsible for funding the organization, Board management, community relations, and other related activities. The President/CEO of the Chamber will provide the guidance and leadership necessary to achieve the Chamber s annual operating objectives and the goals as defined by the Chamber s strategic plan. Direct supervision is provided to the Vice President/COO who manages the daily operations of the Chamber. The President will work with the Board of Directors and the Vice President/COO to develop and execute the Chamber s policies and programs to achieve their organizational goals. Provide strategic vision and leadership consistent with the organization s mission statement, work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to ensure the organization's fiscal operations and fundraising/marketing strategies are effectively implemented across all segments of the organization to ensure the organization is making continuous progress. Responsibilities: To serve as an advocate in the following strategic areas: 1. Workforce Development 2. Economic Development 3. Government Relations 4. Leadership Development 5. Business Development 6. Networking Development 7. Non-Profit Relations 8. Community Relations Full fiscal responsibility of all chamber operations and programs Oversight of employees, job duties, and committees Plan, execute, solicit for sponsorships, and promote member events: Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, Boat Parade, Leadership North Broward program, Pineapple Jamboree, Shining Star Award Program, Small Business Person of the Year, Business with a Twist, Fine Food and Wine Festival, Education Foundation, etc. Oversight and planning of Annual Strategic Plan and Long-Range Planning to include budget preparation Maintaining open communication regarding the measurement of financial, programmatic, and impact performance against stated milestones and goals Responsible for providing leadership and direction to all employees and board members and ensuring the continued development and management of a professional and efficient organization Record data and report to the Board of Directors Establish goals for the Chamber, and develop strategic plans to achieve success Collaborate with other Chambers of Commerce on programs and events that benefit both the Lighthouse Point and Margate Chamber Councils and the North Broward Region Collaborate with other entities/organizations on programs and events (City of Lighthouse Point, City of Margate, City of Pompano Beach, Pompano Beach EDC, etc.) Other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements: Bachelor s degree 4+ years professional experience * Strong oral and written communication skills

2 Strong relationship building skills Able to successfully meet deadlines and goals in a fast-paced office environment Highly organized, detail oriented and ability to multi-task with developed time management skills to include deadlines and project/event completion dates Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; some physical activity required to include walking, moving boxes, etc. Flexibility in schedule to work nights, weekends, and other holidays as needed Access to transportation throughout the work day/week Ability to travel when necessary Preferences for applicants: Bachelor s degree in Public Relations, Communications, or related 10+ years of professional experience Supervisory experience Public speaking experience Public relations experience Social media and marketing experience Sales and membership experience QuickBooks experience Application Process Applicants for the position will be screened by the Chamber s Presidential Search Committee. The top ranked candidates will continue in the Chamber s review process with the best candidate being identified and recommended for hiring to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors may, at its discretion, request further reference checks, background checks and/or interviews of finalists as appropriate. Required Qualifications 1. A Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university. The required degree must be completed by the time of filing an application. 2. At least Five (5) years of successful experience in an executive leadership position in chamber of commerce, public administration, government, business, non-profit, or trade association. 3. A sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse business, socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of an urban community. Desired Qualifications 1. A Master s degree in business, public administration or other applicable degree. 2. Ten (10) years of experience in administrative management positions with increasing levels of responsibility, preferably at a chamber of commerce or non- profit association in a major city or regional center. 3. Completed the US Chamber of Commerce Institute Program. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate the experience and technical skills to provide effective leadership to a dynamic and challenging chamber, and its numerous committees all within in a very complex and diverse community. MEMBERSHIP The Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce needs a President and CEO who understands that its members are what make the Chamber special. The President must have an understanding of the challenges and issues members face and demonstrate a firm commitment to member access, equity and success. DIVERSITY/MULTICULTURALISM The North Broward Region is a very diverse community within the City of Pompano Beach, Lighthouse Point, and Margate. The President & CEO must have a clear understanding of the leadership skills required for success in this type of dynamic environment. COMMUNICATION The Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce requires a President and CEO who is an effective and positive communicator. The President must establish a visible presence in the North Broward Region and beyond. In addition, the President must be committed to reaching out to and communicating directly with Chamber members and members of the community, and to serving as an advocate of the Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce. A leader who is proactive with proven advocacy skills and solid understanding of city, state, and national legislation that affect Chamber members. A leader who possesses excellent public speaking capabilities which may be required in various situations, governmental hearings, other public forums and with the media. A leader whose communication and management styles are effective and instill confidence and trust. A leader who effectively engages with the Chamber s internal and external stakeholders, strategically communicating in ways that advance the Chambers mission. A leader who communicates with the Board of Directors in ways that ensures a common understanding of the Chamber s goals. Excels in Financial and Operational Ability A leader capable of: 1. Preparing an annual balanced budget for adoption by the Board of Directors. 2. Managing the monthly income and expenses against the approved budget. 3. Overseeing the annual audit and ensure its timely presentation to the Board of Directors. 4. Managing all chamber banking and investment accounts.

5 A fiscally competent leader who will ensure fiscal stability, secure sufficient resources to fund operations and provide adequate controls to prevent fiscal mismanagement. An astute administrator with demonstrated expertise in the complexities of chambers of commerce that impact its finances and operations, including membership, licensing, special events programs and budgetary processes. A leader who aligns expenditures with strategies and provides prudent oversight for the completion of major capital facilities and other projects. A leader who demonstrates fiscal integrity in the linking of planning to resource allocations. Excels in Trademark and Licensing Administration A leader capable of: 1. Monitoring and ensuring the Chamber is always in compliance with the Attorney General Settlement of This includes ensuring that all restricted funds are spent appropriately and preparing/updating the annual Licensing\n Restricted Funds report. 2. Monitoring and ensuring any payments owed to the Greater Pompano Beach Chamber and/or Education Foundation are made in a timely fashion. 3. Responding quickly to all licensing issues raised by the Chamber s licensing representative, Global Icons, and consulting, where appropriate, with the Licensing Chair and/or the Executive Committee. 4. Monitoring to be sure the Chamber s trademarks are being renewed\non time and pursuing new trademark protections/applications where appropriate. Generates Entrepreneurial Fundraising An entrepreneurial and effective fundraiser with demonstrated capacity to raise revenue and develop new resources to support the Chamber s membership, programs and facilities. Develops and Maintains Effective External Partnerships A leader who uses the Chamber s influence and resources to pave the way for ongoing membership access and success by forging partnerships with outside entities, including The Pompano Beach EDC, representatives in city, county, state and federal governments, North Broward Region Business Improvement Districts, Neighborhood Councils, and numerous community-based organizations and employers.
