2 Division profile: The Division is responsible for providing the Government with policy and advice in all aspects of sport, recreation, physical activity and community development. The Division is also responsible for delivering programs and activities to the community. The Tasmanian Institute of Sport (TIS) is responsible for the delivery of programs to support the development of high performance athletes. The TIS has two bases, one in the North and one in the South of Tasmania. This role will be based at the Silverdome Facility in the North of Tasmania (Launceston). This role will require the occupant to work extended hours, evenings and weekends as required. Position objective: To co-ordinate, access to all TIS services for TIS athletes and coaches. To provide administration support to facilitate delivery planning with coaches and sports performance personnel for sport programs of the TIS. To facilitate training and competition activities for the sport programs of the TIS, including the administering of scholarship funds. Duties: 1. Maintain awareness of trends in high performance sport and contribute to sport program strategy and review. 2. Facilitate and contribute to designated sports High Performance Program operational planning processes. 3. Assist and oversee program implementation and administration for the TIS sports programs through activities such as coordination of athlete services and travel arrangements for training and competition. 4. Provide administration support to TIS sports programs coaches as required. 5. Work within established parameters to assist coaches to deliver programs within designated budgets, 6. Provide financial administration support for designated TIS programs through the monitoring and reporting of expenditure. 7. Liaise with TIS athletes, coaches and staff to facilitate networks and ensure access to TIS services and programs. 8. Prepare a range of documentation such as consent forms, letters to parents, reports and budgets. 9. Assist with the co-ordination and delivery of other TIS services and activities, as directed.

3 10. Facilitate workshops and forums on behalf of athletes and coaches for educational purpose. Level of responsibility: The Sport Program Coordinator is responsible for the provision of high level administration support to enhance the activities of the TIS sports programs. The position will require liaison with other TIS staff, coaches, external service providers, athletes and departmental staff. The occupant will be required to utilise initiative and make independent judgements within the framework of the TIS strategic objectives in relation to the provision of services to TIS athletes and coaches. Reporting structure: This position will be under the day-to-day supervision of the Manager, Business and Relationships, TIS with overall direction provided by the Manager, Sports Programs. The position will operate within a framework of relevant guidelines and policy. Selection criteria: 1. Sound knowledge and understanding of the requirements of high performance sport and the application of individualised performance plans in developing athletes sporting capability. 2. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the capacity to communicate accurately, clearly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing and to liaise effectively with both internal and external clients. 3. Demonstrated ability to contribute in a team environment, including the capacity to plan, organise and prioritise own work and provide effective support to other team members with a commitment to client service, task accuracy and completion. 4. Sound conceptual, analytical and judgement skills, including well-developed problem solving skills and the ability to solve standard operational issues. 5. High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office desktop software, including the capacity to utilise databases and information management software. 6. Commitment to working in a values-based organisation demonstrated by an alignment with the purpose, culture and values of the department, and to upholding shared values through appropriate workplace behaviour. 4 Essential requirements: The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this position is to satisfy a pre-employment National Criminal History Police Check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer. 5 Staff are also responsible for adhering to the instructions within the security plan and are expected to be pro-active in identifying threats in their workplace, in particular challenging or reporting anyone who is not properly identified within their workplace. All staff are to be familiar with and participate in all evacuation drills.
