The way you work can create competitive advantage The gig economy is the fastest growing economy in Europe. It is estimated that more than half of the working UK and US population will move into the gig economy within the next five years. Today, we are experiencing the most significant change to working practices since 1817, when the 8-hour day was conceived of by the great social reformer Sir Robert Owen. Capitalising on these changes can bring competitive advantage to any organisation. The Hoxby Collective brings a talented, freelance community together to work in a completely new way - creating the ultimate flexible workforce, working with companies to outsource projects on demand, and to consult to adapt organisations own purpose, structure and culture to be both more flexible and more productive. It is a more cost-effective way to work and creates a happier and more fulfilled workforce gross revenue from collaborative platforms was estimated at 28 billion, almost doubling compared to 2014 *59% of UK staff are considering moving jobs in 2017 (Investors In People 2017 employee sentiment poll)

Work is becoming more complex Rapid Globalisation Communication across borders has never been easier, with organisations large and small choosing to take advantage of the global marketplace and the unprecedented access to specialist expertise and an international customer base. Advancing Technologies Mobile technologies and cloud computing have enabled work to be done from any location. Recent developments to cloud computing have also enabled organisations to automate many of their internal processes. The effect of technology on organisational design is already profound and will continue with the evolution of AI. New Societal Values Changing Demographics Disenchanted by presenteeism, hierarchy and bureaucracy but driven by the pursuit of autonomy and purpose, people are leaving the traditional workforce to find flexible working and portfolio careers. What it means to earn a living has fundamentally changed. People are living longer, creating an ageing workforce and an expectation to work longer. Add to that a digitally-native generation entering the workforce now and the demographic has never been broader. The need for inclusivity and equality has never been higher.

Statistics illustrate the need for change Productivity Lows 80% of employees feel technology has a positive influence on their productivity at work. 2/3 of managers saw a correlation between technology and their organisation s performance. 2 1 The UK has one of the lowest rates of employee productivity in the world creating market opportunities for resource efficient competitors. Multigenerational workforce A third of UK workers will be over 50 by In addition, the unique needs and expectations of Generation X and Generation Y employees requires an adaptive organisation to engage and retain them. 3 Flexibility in demand Technology gap Forward thinking? 53% of people feel they could be more productive if they could work outside the office. However only 54% of managers believe their organisation is technologically forward thinking. NO YES 47% of workers spend the majority of their time feeling overwhelmed by their workloads. 50+ years

Traditional, Linear Working Structure Working 9am to 5pm, Monday-Friday Work is a place you go Repetitive and routine tasks Individual contributions and results - corporate approach Responsibilities of individuals are static Fixed parameters for work set by job descriptions based on input Employees all work together in a traditional office Teams tend to be grouped by organisational area The how, when and where of work are dictated by the company Future, Super-Agile Working Structure Working anytime, any day of the week Work is what you do Non-routine and more responsive tasks, often in response to external issues and opportunities Collective contributions and results - community approach Responsibilities are more fluid and reactive Descriptions of work to be delivered more often based on competencies and targeted on output or outcomes Teams work all over the world, connecting virtually Team curation is highly bespoke and where efficiency gains can really be made The individuals delivering the work choose themselves on the how, when and where of the work they do

Designed with the future in mind, and operating this way since inception, Hoxby has unique insight into the what it takes to be fit for the new working world. We believe this to be grounded in 3 key areas: authentic familial super-agile purpose culture structure We have further codified the constituent elements of the future of work as we see them, through our proprietary Futureproofing model, which we are happy to share privately with prospective clients.

Future of Work Readiness Assessment Phase 1 Future Vision Phase 2 Rich Data Phase 3 Hoxby Model Phase 4 Contextual Analysis The Futureproofing process starts with a facilitated 1 day session, with a range of internal stakeholders, exploring the foundations of your business success and the vision and opportunity for the organisation in the future work context, using different time horizons and external scenarios to provoke new thinking as well as existing internal context drawn from any data supplied in advance. To evaluate how Futureproofed the business is through the Hoxby Model of Work, a range of existing data sources will be explored (including evidence-based assessments and interviews with leadership team members) and a survey for a sample of employees produced to gain specific insight to complete the full Futureproof assessment. The Futureproofing Team will run insight and data from Phase 1 & 2 through the Hoxby Model of Work. Over 30 distinct data points are evaluated and weighted for importance to generate a Futureproof score for the business purpose, structure and culture and an overall Futureproof score for the business. To deepen understanding of the Futureproof score, a series of interviews and/or discussion groups will be held with internal stakeholders to provide a contextual view of the score and survey responses, to inform a more effective Futureproof Report and Blueprint for change as well as to understand any barriers to change in these areas previously. Phase 5 Report & Blueprint A full Futureproof Report will be produced and presented back to the business. This report will share scores, data points, contextual insights and recommendations in the context of the business vision (outlined in Phase 1). The Futureproof Blueprint will provide a roadmap for change that can be delivered in house or through further work with Hoxby. Powered by The HoxbyCollective Collective Powered by The Hoxby
