Lowlands has established itself both in the E&P industry as well as the Geothermal Industry as one of the Best in Class amongst independent training providers. Many of the Large Operators attended training provided by Rein. Besides this WI Classes does he run Completion and Well Intervention, High Pressure Pumping and other classes requested by the Client. Rein has been involved in developing Competence schemes for Well Services teams around the world for Shell. Mike Maatjes is managing the Well Services Operations for Lowlands Consultancy. After graduating from high school, did he join Halliburton as a completions and gravelpack Operator in Brunei. Joined Geoservices in Gabon and Italy as slickline and electric line Sr Operator. After the merger of Geoservices with Schlumberger he worked in Iraq, setting up a new base and Operations for them. Mike is a Schlumberger certified Digital Slickline Engineer. He was instrumental for setting up the new Contract for Halliburton in the extreme high temperature Mukhaizna field in Oman. Became independent consultant as Well Services supervisor for Shell in Gabon, Tulip Oil Netherlands and for ENI in Australia. 3 Ask us for bespoke training courses. Our Training Programs are flexible and can easily be adapted to suit Clients need or focus on specific equipment used. IWCF for Intervention Level 2 and level 3&4: Level-2: Training and certification for Operators and new onsite technicians. 4 days Level-3&4: Training and certification for field supervisors and desk engineers. 5 days Training schedules are suited to client s needs; do let us know of your requirement. Classes of 6-12 are most optimum. We run Classes at your preferred location or your offices. We take care of the accreditation the exam room and make sure it meets IWCF s standards. Lecturer: Mike Maatjes For IWCF training, Lowlands has a Partnership with the Well Academy in Apeldoorn The Netherlands. Mike is accredited trainer with them. TWA can certify venues for lecturing and taking official IWCF exams. They take care of examination material and invigilator provision. Mike is certified for Well Intervention IWCF, however via TWA we can also provide Drilling Well Control IWCF should there be a market for. High Pressure Pumping: One or multiple day training for technicians and operators of pumping teams performing Well Intervention operations like cleaning from paraffin, performing Annulus Integrity Testing, circulating wells to different fluids etc. The class covers different types of pumps; Positive displacement and centrifugal. Temporarily piping, types of valves their application, dangers and limitations. Fundamentals of killing a well, circulate a well to different fluids. Show the downhole well status during such operations. On the two day class, the curriculum includes and exam with 40 questions and a passmark of 70%. Lecturer: Rein Maatjes or Mike Maatjes. 3

Our Training Programs are flexible and can easily be adapted to suit Clients need or focus on specific equipment used. Well Completions and Interventions: A three-day class on the fundamentals of completion design, the installation practices of a completion in the well. Different types of packers; permanent and retrievable SCSSSV s, self equalizing or not, installation procedures testing etc. Designing a well with sufficient integrity, managing corrosive effluents and design with easy workover in mind.. Well Intervention techniques on producing wells, the application, the possibilities and restriction. Discussing options of Coil intervention versus e-line tractors, pumping operations, slickline etc. Slickline principles, e-line principles and differences with slickiline. Briefly discussing Hydraulic workover options. Rig workovers; basic principles Class content can be made bespoke to include client s completion equipment and used well intervention techniques. Lecturer: Rein Maatjes 4

Well Integrity (WI) Management: Classes are about the managing, designing and verification of Well Integrity. We can provide 2 different classes each of three-four day duration, one is following the Norwegian Petroleum Authority training curriculum, including an exam with Lowlands issued certificate. The second is an advanced class focuses on designing, verification and repair of well integrity issues. An alternative 5 day class allows for more in depth discussion of the subject, more case histories are included and group exercises to learn from each other. This class has been run for the past 5 years in SE-Asia with many returning clients, from both Operators and Services providers, sending their staff to the class. The class uses case histories, many of them from the Lecturers own experience, to show what and how integrity failed and how to remedy it. Class exercises are used to promote interaction of candidates and learn from each other s view and experience. Very much mimicking real life situation. Living with sustained annulus pressure is often the biggest problem with the Operator. The class goes in depth inot this problem and provide/teach the right approach to manage and live with it. Corrosion from well effluent, but also from changes to the purpose of the well (producer to injector for example) is discussed, external corrosion on conductor casing and how to avoid erosional corrosion. Lecturer: Rein Maatjes. It is critical to understand the competence of Lowlands trainer in WI, in a world with others providing the same training. Those trainers are from (contractor) field supervisor s background or from service providers. Lowlands trainer has a background on management level with a major Multinational Operator, having been involved in the design of Well Integrity Management System and global rollout within Shell. As such we have been involved in the design of WI management systems and manuals. We understand the fundamentals of WI Management System. Others have only been involved in executing operations or in a small niche part of WI, like cementing and were never accountable to the Government for Integrity of the Wells. 5

Slickline and Well Services Operations Training Lowlands has partnered with and has the sole right to use Taylor Training s Intellectual Property and training curriculum. We provide the full spectrum of Taylor s training; classroom aswell as on a client provided training well. Classes are standard as follows: 10 day slickline course. 5 day fishing-advanced slickline 5 day Well Service Operations 15 day Well Service Operations. We can make a bespoke class to the client s requirement, lecture only client s completion material, dedicated for land or offshore etc. Part of the class content is the world famous Taylor Training manual. Each candidate will receive his/her own copy to keep. Lecturer: Mike Maatjes or Bob Taylor Other Training Topics provided by Lowlands: Lowlands has the ability to acquire experienced Lecturers to expand training programs. We can expand into Drilling training classes or Project Engineering training and others. Please ask us. Lowlands has vast experience in developing Competence schemes for staff. We were instrumental in setting-up the very fist Well Services team s competence scheme and IWCF training in the early 2000 s in BSP. We recently did the same for a Shell Operating Unit in Central Africa. We are frequently consulted by International Operators for solutions on Well Integrity Issues. The setting-up of Well Services Organizations, managing Transitions in large Organizations or to provide advise on problems in a well. We provide cost efficient solutions. Lowlands does this in a very cost efficient manner, reducing travel cost and time, extensively making use of modern IT technology. That benefits the clients and Lowlands. We can respond fast by making use of this technology. 6

Training staff to be skilled in the subject they work on everyday increases their competence in executing the job. It makes it easier for them to understand the full content of the subject, easier to do the work and in the end has a positive contribution to the employer. Competent staff executes better jobs and as such at lower cost. In the Well Intervention field one of the biggest cost is the loss of cash generated by the production of the well. If we could do every job more efficient and safer, we would execute them at lower cost, have the well closed in for shorter periods, reducing loss of cash that is not generated and reduce ultimately Unit Technical Cost (UTC) of such operations. Training cost is only a small part of the total OPEX cost. By executing the work at lower UTC, we would save more money then spend on training, not one time but every time, and that would we money wisely spend. It s like the CEO said to HR manager: What if we train them and they leave the Company? To which the HR manager responded by: But what if we don t train them and they stay? Over the years Lowland s staff has been actively involved in training young/new engineers. We understand the value and reward of training local staff. Being it training a truck driver to become wireline operator or mentoring an engineer to become the next manager in the organization. We have done it and have ample evidence around the globe of local engineers succeeding Rein upon his transfer to the next Operating Unit in Shell and Mike nationalizing his wireline teams. Increasing skills and competence is the best investment the employer can make. Talk to us and we can provide the answer to your needs at the best price. 7
