9 APIs: What problem do they solve? Application programming interface (API) is code that allows two software programs to communicate to each other. Allow your third-party vendors to connect to the data you have in WinTeam. Process can push information into WinTeam or pull information from the system. 14 Payroll Tax Automation: Tax Engine Update Testing has started. Five (5) customers are in ALPHA/BETA testing to insure the payroll tax project s impact to internal processes and work flows is minimal. Testing includes: New screen for associating the new tax codes in WinTeam. Updating the company tax setup. Updating the employee and job tax assignment. Verifying existing imports, exports and reports within WinTeam. How can you prepare? 1. Verify employee and job addresses in WinTeam using the Address Validation tool. 2. Insure only taxes are in PAY: Taxes. All non-tax deductions need to be moved to PAY: Other Deductions.

16 Update Human Resources Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) Legislation to Watch The House Ways and Means Committee and the House of Representatives have legislation moving through the approval process aimed at expanding consumerdirected health care and lowering premiums. Vets-4212 Federal Contractor Reporting Filing deadline is Sept. 30. Multiple states Amending Data Breach and Security Laws Expanded definition of personal information, quicker breach notification requirements and new security and data disposal requirements. New York: NYC Mandates Temporary Schedule Changes The New York City Council passed a scheduling law that provides employees with additional rights to demand changes to their work schedules. Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) Association Health Plans Final ruling was passed providing additional criteria for employers to provide association health plans (AHPs) under existing Department of Labor rules, including entities in the same industry or profession, regardless of where those entities are located or unrelated entities in the same state or metropolitan area. 18 Update Federal Form W-4 Update The IRS has provided a draft 2019 Form W-4 and instructions to the payroll community requesting feedback. The American Payroll Association compiled comments and provided that in July Social Security Administration (SSA) Employer Correction Request Notices The SSA is mailing informational notifications to businesses and third parties who submitted wage and tax statements (Form W-2) that contain name and Social Security number combinations that do not match their records and require updates. IRS Paycheck Checkup The IRS has a one-page flyer employers can give to employees to remind them to complete a Paycheck Checkup using the Withholding Calculator to ensure their income tax withholdings are correct following the Tax Cuts and Job Act.
