2 COURSE INFORMATION Overview For many organizations people are the only source of competitive advantage and the role of HR Executives reflects this; moving from the traditional activity of providing administrative services to greater involvement in strategy setting and positioning. Making the most of global business opportunities means having the right people in the right place at the right time with the right skills. HR Excellence will be essential in achieving this. But there are significant challenges. Worldwide talent shortages and the effects of demographic change demand new approaches to people management. HR professionals will need to respond by providing Insight to their Boards and Executive Teams. Strategic Workforce Planning and developments in HR Analytics can provide the foundation, but it will be insights about the full range of HR activity from understanding multi- cultural, multi- generational workforces, to new approaches to talent management and employee engagement; to the use of social media in recruitment and onboarding that will make the difference. HR professionals will need to be strategic positioners, capability builders and change agents. This HR Excellence programme will provide detailed models for HR strategy and practice and give the opportunity for participants to discuss how they can be implemented in their own organisations. About the Programme Leader Paul Turner has held Professorial positions at Universities in Leeds, Birmingham, Nottingham and Cambridge. His business positions have included President of Employee Care (EMEA) for the Convergys Corporation of Cincinnati, Group HR Business Director for Lloyds TSB, Vice President of the CIPD, a Director of BT, a Non-Executive Director of Blessing White and OPI and a General Manager for Plessey in both the UK and Asia Pacific.
