Launched in January 2015, the campaign s aim is to get more women and girls active- whatever their age, shape or ability, based on their findings that two million fewer year old females play sport than their male counterparts. The national campaign is being translated at a regional and local level through West Yorkshire County Sports Partnership, national governing bodies, Leeds City Council and the University sector. The University of Leeds has a new strategy for sport which articulates our aim of becoming the leading provider of University sport in the UK. Through this strategy we are committed to ensuring we provide opportunities for all students to engage with sport and physical activity at the level appropriate and for the reasons specific to their needs, wants and values. We are now looking to appoint a part time sport Activator to support in the delivery of this aim, with a particular focus on translating the National Sport England This Girl Can Campaign into the University context in order to promote female engagement and participation. Into its second year, the Get Out, Get Active project will continue to inspire our students, through a programme of 8 outdoor sports, to form lifetime sport and activity habits with like-minded people, to enhance their personal development and employability prospects. The aim of this role is to be the key link between the student voice and the Get Out, Get Active Programme, with responsibility for driving female participation within this programme. We are looking for a creative and self-motivated individual to support in event planning and delivery and in promotion and programme development at the University through programme. A large part of this role will involve organising and facilitating feedback and focus group opportunities with the students to further develop our understanding of the female student population and their barriers to participation. Other duties will include monitoring weekly participant attendance, driving social media activity and working in partnership with Leeds University Union,
