1 JOB DSCRIPTION JOB TITL: Helpline Practitioner & Visitor OFFIC LOCATION: Cardiff LIN MANAGR: Team Manager SUPRVISORY RSPONSIBILITIS: None PRINCIPAL JOB PURPOS: The Families First Freephone (FFF) & arly Help Line and Visitor is a partnership between Tros Gynnal Plant and Families First in Cardiff. The Practitioner will operate as part of a team working to develop and provide a service for professionals, children, young people and their families in accordance with the Service Level Agreement. DUTIS & RSPONSIBILITIS 1. Provide signposting, consultation, advice and information to families and professionals accessing the Families First Freephone service and arly Help Line. 2. ngage children, young people and families using a range of approaches including Restorative Approaches, Motivational Interviewing and Signs of Safety. 3. Undertake family focussed restorative assessment through in-depth telephone conversations underpinned by Signs of Safety to identify appropriate support. 4. Undertake one-off home and community visits to families, conducting assessments and signposting as deemed appropriate. 5. Support families to contact and access identified services outside and within the Families First provision. 6. nsure that Safeguarding concerns which arise are identified and appropriate decisions are made regarding risk assessment and referral to Children's Service under the advice of arly Help Social Workers and supervision of the Team Manager. 7. Accurately recording and updating family information using relevant systems. 8. Adapting practice in line with antidiscrimination policies. 9. Support the ongoing development of relevant systems and processes in line with service need. 10. Comply with financial and administrative systems in accordance with Tros Gynnal Plant s policies and procedures. 1

2 11. Contribute to the monitoring and the evaluation of the work and the effective implementation of the project, in consultation with children, young people and families and stakeholders. 12. Contribute to the production of progress and monitoring reports in line with funding and deadline requirements using RBA. 13. Develop and maintain good working relationships with other agencies. 14. Participating in promotion and networking events for the FFF and arly Help. 15. Provide consultation and deliver training as and when required on FFF and arly Help processes. 16. To participate in training relevant to the role in consultation with Team Manager. 17. Attend practitioner meetings and share knowledge, skills and practice. 18. Constructively challenge injustice or discrimination and access to services that affect children, young people and families with a view to affecting change. Such other duties and responsibilities as may reasonably be required by the Organisation and which are consistent with grade. WORKING CONDITIONS 37 hours per week Work outside of office hours into the early evening and some Saturday mornings is necessary requiring a flexible approach to the working week.
