POSITION DESCRIPTION Project Worker CORPS/CENTRE/DEPT: Oasis Youth Support Network REPORTS TO: Centre Manager DIVISION: Social Programs DIRECT REPORTS POSITION PURPOSE & DESCRIPTION: To assist the Oasis Youth Support Network in the coordination of new and existing projects. ARMY MISSION STATEMENT: The Salvation Army is an international movement and an evangelical branch of the Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible and its ministry is motivated by love of God. The mission is both spiritual and practical, encompassing the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the alleviation of human suffering and distress without discrimination. 2 DUTIES Project Management and Planning To effectively manage the planning, resourcing, implementation and review of all projects as directed by Oasis Youth Support Network (OYSN) management. The scope of this accountability covers the following areas: Assist OYSN management in all aspects of project development. Provide regular reports and updates on project outcomes Ensure all projects are adequately resourced to meet objectives Provide support in the development of program material, policies, and procedures Coordinating internal resources and third parties to ensure the execution of projects. Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope and on budget. Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques. Develop a detailed project plan to track progress Managing coordination of the partners and working groups engaged in project work. Promote OYSN best practices, service innovation and information sharing across the network Identify potential training opportunities or training needs based on feedback from leadership and staff. Develop and implement information sharing forums in specialist fields (e.g. digital communities of best practice, blogs, teleconferences etc) Coordinate/participate in internal reference groups and working parities in specialist social program fields Participate in presentations, discussions and debates within OYSN and across the sector. EXPECTATIONS Project milestones are delivered in a timely manner. Evidence of regular communication between Project Coordinator, OYSN management & Key Stakeholders. Program material has been sourced or developed to support staff in day to day duties Monthly Project Update reports are accurate and detail all relevant information. TSA Core Values and Behaviours demonstrated in all work activities. OYSN management is supported appropriately through regular communication and training workshops on best practice and service innovation Training and resource needs are evaluated, reviewed, identified and communicated on a regular basis Feedback from key internal service providers in field is collected and analysed and reports on developments, recommendations and performance are provided to OYSN leadership as required Information on best practice, service innovations and service challenges are shared across the network and inform practice in the field Participation in conferences is well informed, professional and suited to the needs of the target audience Page 2 of 5

3 DUTIES Data outcomes & Reporting Ensure appropriate documentation, records, reporting, data collection and financial information is maintained and readily available as required and as per TSA policies and procedures. Undertake specific internal research and contribute towards the development of TSA outcome framework. Assist with the monitoring and reporting functions of SAMIS, and generate reports as requested. Contribute towards the development of project data collection systems. Networks and Partnerships Represent TSA at relevant forums and collaborate with appropriate external agencies. Initiate, develop and maintain appropriate partnerships with other Salvation Army Programs/Corps and external service providers. EXPECTATIONS Information is collected and summarised within agreed time frames. Briefing papers/reports are prepared and delivered within agreed timeframe. High quality work is evidenced. Information obtained is relevant for evaluation and making decisions concerning future developments Briefing papers/reports are stored appropriately and are readily available as required. Initiative demonstrated in resolving issues identified in reports and maintaining performance standards. Develop and maintain effective professional networks within the community, working collaboratively wherever possible, and obtaining community input into OYSN programs. Evidence of participation in relevant Community Forums, Interagency meetings, seminars and workshops and stakeholder meetings. Representation of The Salvation Army at local or regional committees Evidence of improved linkages between TSA and various community groups, referral agencies and identification of the potential within local business community to contribute towards the operations of the Service. Evidence of effective and efficient partnerships arrangements with appropriate government agencies, community services and the business sector. Ensure all government and sponsor funding requirements and timelines are met. Support fundraising activities and assist OYSN management/ CFD in the development and maintenance of business relationships. Page 3 of 5

4 ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote and support the values and ethos of The Salvation Army. Project management skills Excellent presentation & communication skills (both oral & written) Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people at various levels within The Salvation Army and other external organisations Working knowledge of all social media channels High level of computer literacy in MS Office suite & Lotus Notes systems & databases. Ability to exercise flexibility and undertake duties with initiative, innovation & discretion with little or no professional direction Commitment to high professional standards of practice Excellent time management & organisational skills Current valid NSW driver s licence Previous relevant experience in a similar role WHS knowledge of work health safety obligations and to practice these in the workplace in line with TSA policy & procedures and legislation. Professional development required to maintain skills for the role. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: SKILLS & BEHAVIOURS: Tertiary qualifications in communications, community development, social work or business Self-motivated, high level of initiative & strong work ethic Advanced computer literacy Ability to work in a team Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects/ time effectively Highly effective planning, organisational and problem solving skills Ability to gather and organise complex information Energetic and flexible with a positive attitude Excellent written/ verbal skills and attention to detail High level of interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and negotiate with a range of internal and external clients Page 4 of 5
