1 JOB DESCRIPTION Post Title: Kitchen Porter Grade: A6 Department: Hospitality Reports to: Head Chef Education is an ever-changing service and all staff are expected to continually focus on enhancing the student experience, work constructively in teams and across the College activities and to adopt a flexible approach to their work. The job description is not intended to be exhaustive and is indicative of the nature and level of the responsibilities associated with the post. Such duties may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the post or the level of responsibility entailed. Such variations are a common occurrence and cannot of themselves justify a reconsideration of the terms and conditions of employment associated with the post. Job Purpose: Maintain a clean and safe hygienic working environment within the commercial kitchens at Inverness College Campus. To carry out all cleaning of kitchen equipment to a high standard. Specific Responsibilities To keep the kitchen areas in a clean, hygienic and tidy state at all times. To provide a friendly, efficient and hygienic service to all customers. To follow and complete weekly /monthly kitchen cleaning task list. To comply with COSHH regulations. 1

2 Accountability: To ensure that customers are given a prompt and efficient service and expectations are consistently exceeded. To be customer focused at all times, approachable and quick to exceed expectations in fulfilling customer needs. To project a willing and helpful attitude to customers. People: To treat your team members as you would expect to be treated. To co-operate with all team members and undertake duties in the kitchen as requested to ensure an efficient and effective service is delivered at all times. Health & Safety, Food Safety, the Environment: To attend food safety, health and safety and safety and environmental training courses as required. To rigorously follow the kitchen cleaning schedules Additional Responsibilities: To attend all meetings as required. To show commitment to college values in all aspects of your role. To act as a positive ambassador for the business. To attend any reasonable request made by the college management. Flexibility: In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to per other duties resulting from organisational change, restructuring or temporary reassignment of work, within broad parameters limited by the grading of the post. Training/Development: Undertake training required for the post. Health and Safety: It is the responsibility of all staff to take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others whilst at work. You must not interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health and safety and must cooperate with Inverness College in complying with its statutory obligations. 2
