Evaluation of traineeship This evaluation will give the University of Aalborg important information in regards to your traineeship in a foreign country. The evaluation will be used to help future students who wish to try a traineeship abroad. International Office 1. Personal data Study programme at AAU and semester of travel: CCG, 9 th semester 2. Traineeship Name of the company / organization (and country): Global Conferences for Tomorrow LDA (Portugal) Starting date: 16/08/2016 End date: 30/11/2016 Did you find the length of the traineeship: too short 1 too long X perfect 1 Please elaborate: It was rather perfect in terms of gaining insight about the organization and the know-hows of my internship, yet it was too long considering the fact that I had little time left to work on my internship report after finishing the traineeship. What was your main motivation for doing an internship? To gain more work experience, as well as to try myself on a field where I have not worked on before but has always interested me.

Please describe your main tasks as an intern, as well as evaluate these tasks: Reviewing Portuguese Labour law; participating in the recruitment process by filtering the applications, attending/doing interviews and exit interviews, preparing contracts, preparing and leading onboarding session on HR; updating the internal HR databases; preparing internal job descriptions; keeping track of the holiday records; organizing a team building activity; contacting computer providers to order office equipment; assisting the implementation of employee survey and personality tests; setting up a feedback box. I believe I performed each task well, but I found the ones focusing on the organization internally to be the most compelling. What is the subject of your trainee report? Deciphering organizational culture. Please provide a short evaluation of the traineeship from an academic point-of-view: I learnt a lot about how small, international enterprises are run, including their obstacles and all sort of abstraction. 3. Information and support Who was your contact-person at the company/organization? Edwige Guinet, Managing Director How did you go about establishing a connection with the company / organization in the first place? I was hired through an agency called Placement in Portugal, who did the first round of interviewing. I found them by simply searching for internship possibilities on the Internet. How were you received as a foreign intern? The organization has welcomed foreign interns even before and after my arrival, as well as I was not the only intern during the time of my internship. On my first day I was introduced to my colleagues, showed around the office and received several onboarding sessions. Did they arrange any of these upon your arrival? a welcome meeting X an information meeting X nothing 1

Please elaborate: As mentioned above, I had a very brief welcome meeting at the beginning of my first workday, followed by a few onboardings later on. How well and to what extent did you integrate with your colleagues at the company / organization? Many employees were hired only weeks prior to my arrival, therefore I had a feeling that the organizational culture was under continuous formation and that there was a group of people working together rather than one team. My integration process took perhaps one month, which was followed by getting to enjoy the work environment and my tasks more day by day. 4. Accommodation How were the practical arrangements managed (accommodation etc.)? The agency called Placement in Portugal recommended me to get in touch with a local housing agency, from whom I rented a room during my stay. It was paid by me, not my internship company. 6. Language preparations and gains Which languages did you use while working? English Did you receive any additional language lessons? yes 1 no X If yes, for how many weeks did the lessons last? How many hours a week? Please give a brief evaluation of how your linguistic skills benefitted from your traineeship: I had to use a more academic, business language at work which definitely helped me to improve professionally. 7. Economy Was the traineeship unpaid? No, it was not.

If yes, how did you finance your stay? SU 1 family 1 savings 1 loans 1 grants 1 other (what?): If no, how much were you compensated with each month? A gross basic monthly salary of 550 euros, as well as a daily meal allowance of 6,83 euros for each completed day of work. Total expenses per month (DKK): About 6500 DKK Break down of your economy (DKK): Travel: 2300 DKK Rent (per month): 2640 DKK (14520 DKK for 5,5 months stay) Living expenses (food, laundry, etc.) (per month): 2300 DKK (12650 DKK for 5,5 months stay) Insurance: Transport (per month): 300 DKK (1650 DKK for 5,5 months stay) Total: Over DKK for 5,5, months stay Other expenses: Clothing, participating on events organized by student organizations. How much more did you spend each month abroad compared to your expenses if you had stayed at Aalborg University? (DKK per month): I spent roughly the same amount of money abroad, or even less. Are there any grants you would recommend other students to apply for? I applied for grants at the beginning of my internship, I would recommend other students to do the same. 8. Personal gains and evaluation of internship Please consider the value of your internship from an academic point of view? As mentioned above, I gained a better understanding about how organizations run, as well as gained practice in interviewing processes which I expect to apply later on in my life.

Please consider the value of your internship from a personal point of view? I learnt a lot about myself in those new situations I faced during my internship. Please give a short evaluation of the traineeships benefits from a social point of view: I learnt how to adapt to an international organization and how to approach people with various backgrounds, as well as to gain their trust. Did you experience any serious issues or problems during your internship? If yes, how did you solve them or how were you helped in solving them? At first I experienced some difficulties in approaching my superiors. Besides, it took me a month to understand what was expected from me and to learn how to perform those tasks on those given standards. Most probably time and persistence solved those difficulties. Are there any things about the internship that you especially appreciate?? The trust my colleagues and candidates put in me. Please make a short, overall evaluation of your internship: All in all, I consider this internship to be an amazing experience and achievement - both personally and professionally - as I proved to perform well as an HR Associate even though I had no previous work experience in the field. I gained the trust of all the employees, and might had an impact on the organization by participating in the recruitment process of its six new members. I am really grateful for deciding to do my internship at this particular company yet I know that I will not work in the financial sector in the future. Would you like to be contact person for students who may be interested in a traineeship in the same company/organization? Not at the moment. 9. Date and signature Date: 16/02/2017 Signature:
