1 HR125 Page 1 of 5 Position Description College/Division: Division of Student Recruitment and Admissions Faculty/School/Centre: Department/Unit: Position Title: International Student Recruitment Team International Student Recruitment Officer Classification: ANU Officer 6/7 Position No: Responsible to: Number of positions that report to this role: Manager, International Student Recruitment Nil Delegation(s) Assigned: PURPOSE STATEMENT: The International Student Recruitment Officer contributes to the formulation and implementation of strategies, relationships and plans, with the aim of attracting international applications and enrolments for all ANU programs, across a range of countries in line with the ANU international student recruitment plans. KEY ACCOUNTABILITY AREAS: Position Dimension & Relationships: This International Student Recruitment Officer plays a key role in developing and implementing marketing/communication strategies to recruit students into ANU programs. International Student Recruitment staff work closely with staff in other areas of the Division and internal University stakeholders to develop strategic recruitment plans and strategies that are aligned with the University s goals and priorities. Role Statement: Under the supervision of the Manager, International Student Recruitment, the Officer will: 1. Develop and implement regionally focussed recruitment and communication strategies and plans that are aligned with the wider University recruitment objectives. 2. Achieve defined student recruitment targets and conversion rates for responsible markets. This will include meeting other metrics as defined within the regional plan for each market. 3. Develop, mutually beneficial relationships with University representatives/agents/school counsellors and other relevant external stakeholders in specific markets. 4. Generate market intelligence and utilise existing market data to identify activities for effective international student recruitment through international campaigns and, as appropriate, personally participate in education fairs, student events and seminars. This will include the ongoing assessment of the success of events and incountry activity carried out. 5. Co-ordinate activities for effective international student recruitment through international campaigns and, as appropriate, personally participate in education fairs, student events and seminars. 6. Maintain the central database of relevant regional key contacts and University representatives/agents/ school counsellors details in databases, the website and other systems.

Assist with the production of electronic and print publications and other marketing/advertising opportunities both internally and externally, in cooperation with the ANU Marketing Office. 8. Co-ordinate specific international student recruitment events within Australia (including on-campus visits by international visitors, local and regional high school international student activities) as directed. 9. Provide support to other recruitment staff as required during their absences on overseas travel. 10. Cultivate and maintain collaborative working relationships with external stakeholders and internal stakeholders (including academic Colleges, administrative areas and ANU College). 11. Undertake extensive travel on behalf of the University. 12. Undertake other duties commensurate with the classification of the position.

3 21/08/2012 HR125 Page 3 of 5 SELECTION CRITERIA: 1. A degree and relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of experience and education/training. Demonstrated understanding of the higher education sector in particular the international education market, including an understanding of admission requirements and government regulations for international students. 2. Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and oral communications skills with proven experience in liaising with stakeholders, including the ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships with a wide range of people from different cultures and levels while representing the University. 3. Demonstrated high-level analytical skills, including the ability to establish market strategies/ recruitment plans and achieves performance-based targets through the pro-active identification of opportunities and implementation of operational initiatives to ensure successful delivery of outcomes. 4. Proven ability to work well within a team environment as well as independently organise work priorities, multiple projects and meet tight deadlines. 5. High proficiency in the use of computer-based, office information systems, in particular, spread sheets, databases, web applications and word processing 6. Understanding of and competency in a regional language (desirable) and a strong understanding of cross-cultural issues and their relevance in a tertiary education context 7. Demonstrated ability and willingness to undertake frequent and extensive independent travel, work outside of normal business hours and holds a current drivers licence for ACT/Australia. 8. A demonstrated high level of understanding of equal opportunity principles and a commitment to the application of EO policies in a university context and a strong understanding of cross-cultural issues.
