POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB PROFILE SUMMARY The CEO is responsible for strategic planning, organising and directing the overall management of the facility and its performance in terms of service provision, financial and corporate viability and ensuring the facility meets all its statutory and service obligations for delivery of high quality care. The post holder is responsible for business strategy and growth and working closely with Consultants, other facilities within the group and colleagues in the central support teams to achieve this goal. The post holder will be a role model for HCA behaviours and vision and will embed a service culture within their facility, ensuring everyone is working towards exceptional service and customer satisfaction. III A B PRINCIPAL DUTIES Strategic and operational matters Developing the facility vision, objectives and strategy having regard to responsibilities to regulators, patients, employees and other stakeholders. Setting and regularly reviewing the operational performance and strategic direction of the facility. Ensure efficient and effective use of resources and high quality care to the patients served by the facility. Providing world class health care services by providing outstanding facilities, working relationships with Consultants and partners and ensuring operational excellence at all times. Regularly review the facility organisation structure and recommend changes as appropriate. Oversight for the development and implementation of integrated strategies for the facilities services. Examine all services, investments and major capital expenditure proposed and makes recommendations to central support services. Ensure effective manpower planning is in place, providing appropriate staffing numbers and skills mix. Identifying new business and working with the appropriate team members to develop new service line and bring in new business to the facility. Ensure the facility has visibility in the market by attending and supporting activities with external parties such as Embassies, NHS, GP s and other relevant organisations. Working with the Medical Director to implement the clinical direction for the facility. Working with the Medical Director to keep abreast of emerging models in healthcare delivery; identifying and defining new and innovative strategies to achieve business goals and objectives. Governance and compliance To be the Registered Manager for the facility. Ultimately responsible for the facilities clinical governance and standards of clinical care and ensure that appropriate assurance and management processes are in place to fully comply with regulatory requirements. Ensure effective mechanisms are in place to implement systems and monitor organisational learning from untoward incidents arising within the facility. Work with the members of the Medical Advisory Committee to ensure appropriate Practicing Privileges are in place and any issues relating to the Consultant body are addressed. Ensuring that all group and local policies are implemented and followed and conform with the highest standards. Ensure that appropriate internal controls are in place Ensure that all statutory and corporate duties are discharged. Page 2 of 6

3 Ensure the facility is aware of and suitably prepared to meet changes in legislation and regulation requirements. Ensuring corporate governance systems are in place and sufficiently robust to enable to facility to meets its objectives and report on performance, in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements. C D Leadership Together with the senior management team, provide leadership of the facility, including representing the facility to patients, Consultants, suppliers, partners, other HCA facilities, regulators, the media and wider stakeholders. Provide vision, direction and leadership in enabling the facility to achieve its strategic goals and objectives. Leading the senior management team in the day-to-day running of the facility. Managing and developing the senior management team in the fulfilment of their duties and responsibilities, ensuring appraisals are undertaken at least annually and individual development and training opportunities are provided and relevant. Ensuring the annual pay reviews are in line with the pay procedures. Ensure that leadership development is reviewed and that succession planning is in place for the senior management team and approving the appointment and termination of members of that team. Leading the facilities core values and behavioural expectations to secure a positive and engaged culture between the facility, its patients, employees, Consultants and other external stakeholders. Ensure the development of people management approaches to develop high levels of staff engagement, participation and loyalty within the facility. Financial and budgeting Recommending to the group an annual budget and financial plan and ensuring their achievement following the approval. Ensuring financial management systems are in place and sufficiently robust to enable to facility to meets its objectives and report on performance, in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements. To drive the profitability of the facility, taking appropriate measures as necessary to deliver EBITDA. IV. BUSINESS SCOPE The post holder has strategic responsibility for the business and day-to-day management of the facility. Ensuring compliance to regulatory and legislative requirements. GENERAL The jobholder is expected to follow relevant policies, procedures and work instructions, and report to the appropriate superior if objectives cannot be met or a problem occurs, the resolution of which is outside the scope of his/her authority. The jobholder is empowered with the necessary authority to make decisions appropriate to the execution of the responsibilities and tasks outlined above.
