2 why is skill development important? With youth engagement and improving competitiveness of industry at the core, IL&FS Skills development corporation (IL&FS Skills) partnered with the National Skills Development Mission to catalyze, design and implement programmes that bridge the industry requirements and the government mandate of poverty alleviation. Our skills development initiative was launched at the behest of Industry who were constantly looking for trained and work ready manpower. The last decade witnessed the Indian economy facing 4 key socio-economic challenges Inclusive Growth Challenges Challenges to Sustain Economic Growth Demographic Dividend Employability Challenge of Educated Population bulge with large number in working age group (18 to 35 yr) Growing Indian Economy, hungry for skilled manpower Fruits of economic growth bypassing large segments of population Low number of Ready to Deploy Educated Youth The traditional vocational education system in India has an annual capacity of 2.5 million persons, while 12.8 million enter the labour market every year. This challenge is being addressed through a competency-based skill development model where training would be directed to achieve competency levels defined by National Occupational Standards (NOS), created by industry enabled bodies called Sector Skills Councils (SSCs). The trainees in-turn would be able to garner employability skills like theoretical and practical domain knowledge along with IT, communication, life management and soft skills Government of India launched the National Skills Development Mission to train 500 million youth by 2020 by creating conducive framework for PPP models

3 The mission is to train 4 million persons by 2022 under our flagship skills initiative - Skills Programmes for INclusive Growth (SPRING) - designed to offer industry endorsed, technology driven, standardized and employment oriented programmes delivered through the following practices: Vocational Education & Training programmes in 100+ schools across 7+ States impacting 4,600+ students. University certified skills development programmes for under graduate and post graduate students in more than 7 universities leading to a B.Voc degree and Certificate courses in Employability Skills for college students People Trained (till date): 70,000 Our Skills for Jobs programme links every trainee to placement in organized / semi-organised sector through industry endorsed training methodology driven by competency and hands-on training. Till date, 4,90,000 unemployed youth have been gainfully employed into jobs within 17+ sectors and 100+ job roles. People Trained (till date): 4,90,000 IL&FS Skills has structured a 40 hrs comprehensive training program called MASTERY for Master Trainers, Trainers in androgogy, use of technology, concepts of blended learning and their respective domains skills in 10 regional languages, English and Hindi. People Trained (till date): 5,000 Skills@Schools and Colleges Skills for Jobs Skills for Good Governance Total Impact 1.5 Million People Trained Skills for Trainers Skills for Entrepreneurship IL&FS Skills delivers customized programmes for capacity building of Government functionaries on IT and Work Skills for improved governance productivity. Till date we have trained 7,50,000+ government functionaries of various departments. People Trained (till date): 750,000+ Skills Upgradation A skills upgradation programme which imparts re-skilling and up-skilling training to the existing workforce, both in private and government sector, for improved output. IL&FS Skills offers an array of programmes catering to the needs of entry level to junior and mid-level professionals. People Trained (till date): 1,20,000 IL&FS Skills offers programmes for both rural & urban entrepreneurs for increasing enterprise development with hand-holding support for market & financial linkages. 6 our impact IL&FS Skills Development Corporation is the largest skill development company in India having trained 15,30,000+ people since lakh youth have been skilled as part of our pan - India placement linked training programme. Gender Alka Thapa from Trainee to trainer at IIS Kalimpong Alka was unable to get a job due to lack of professional skills. She joined a Certificate Program in Hospitality at IIS Kalimpong and got a job with ITC, Bangalore for a salary of Rs. 22,000 per month. Since then she never had to look back and today after having acquired sufficient work experience she is working as a Trainer at IIS Kalimpong Male 51% Female 49% Rizwan Khan Trained under Learn and Earn Scheme of Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA) The eldest son in a family of 9 members including 5 sisters, his responsibility to support the family was weighing heavy on his shoulders. Unable to find a job, he enrolled for a course on electrician training at IIS Delhi sponsored under the Learn & Earn scheme and was placed in Gurgaon with SU-Kam Power systems Limited. 7 64% of the trainees are from Below Poverty Line (BPL) groups now earning between 7,000-14,000 per month. Our focus is on linking women, disadvantaged groups, school drop outs and the youth in difficult regions to jobs in organised / semi organised sector which provide them decent working conditions and income improvement Our Learner Segments 12th Pass 22% Meena Saket Trained under Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana, Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) Uneducated 8th Pass 65% Meena Saket is orthopedically disadvantaged and had 1% lost all hope of being independent. In spite of having got 12% enrolled herself for a course in Domestic BPO at ISS Sidhi, Graduates a post graduate degree she was unable to find a job. She Madhya Pradesh and complete her training programme notwithstanding any barriers. She is now working with Aegis BPO and her salary today helps her save some money to support her family. Our Reach Chander Singh Naxal Affected 20% Training Sponsored by Balco, as part of its CSR Chander comes from a family living below the poverty Others line from the district of Korba, a Naxal-affected region 77% J&K, North East 3% in eastern India which is one of the poorest areas of the country. A school drop out after class 8, he joined IIS-Korba on the campus of Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) for a month long Basic Welding Course. He is now employed by Rudra Enterprises, one of BALCO s first-rate fabrication companies, at a salary of Rs.10,000 per month.
