KEY OBJECTIVE OF THE SERVICE/DEPARTMENT: Northcott s Multi-disciplinary Service provides support to children, young people and adults with a range of disabilities including intellectual disability, physical disability, autism and global developmental delay. The Multi-disciplinary teams comprise of combinations of Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, therapy assistants, Keyworkers, Behaviour Support practitioners and Lead practitioners, Physiotherapists, Nurses, Social Workers, and Dieticians as employed in the area managed. All support is conducted in a family centred way to enable the customer to live as independently as possible at home, in education or work and in the community. 2 intervention and support focussed on building the skills and capacity of the individual and those around them. KEY OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION: Provide Practice leadership to Multi-disciplinary staff Ensures the highest quality of service is provided from a Practice perspective Enables staff to clearly articulate the guiding principles behind Northcott s practice Coordinate the provision of practice/clinical supervision for all disciplines Deliver practice/clinical supervision in own discipline Ensures interventions delivered are best practice, evidence based, person centred and ethical Works with Service Managers to balance frontline staff s caseload capacity from billable and complexity perspectives. Inputs into the recruitment, induction and performance of Multi-disciplinary staff Drives development of innovative practice models Work closely with the Manager Multi-disciplinary to support establish Policy and Procedures to ensure quality and financially viable service delivery in line with Northcott values. To build relationships with the region to grow Northcott Multi-disciplinary Service s Footprint Manages Internal delivery of behaviour support through Service Manager Manages delivery of Sexuality service through Service Manager Manages delivery of behaviour high quality and financially viable training through Service manager Supports achievement of high quality customer outcomes Ensures reporting against outcomes and required program data is of quality PERSON SPECIFICATIONS (SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE) An understanding of and experience in the Practice or clinical strategic direction of multidisciplinary services Demonstrated Practice leadership High level supervision skills Experience in development and delivery of training to a wide audience Demonstrated ability to develop new business opportunities, partnerships and strategic relationships to contribute to the growth and development of Northcott Demonstrated understanding of caseload, billable and financial targets Demonstrated ability to drive quality of service delivery and staff achievement of KPI s Demonstrated ability to promote best practice models of delivery across a variety of service types Initiative, flexibility, time management and the ability to respond to competing priorities Ability to exercise sound judgment and provision of high level and timely advice to the Manager Multi-Disciplinary Ability to prioritise competing demands while attending to urgent service or organisational needs. Proven people management, interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills with experience or managing through organisational change Strong commitment to the rights of people with disability Demonstrated ability to develop, review and deliver high quality training ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Leadership and management experience in a Multi Disciplinary services Demonstrated experience in leading a diverse team to achieve high quality outcomes Excellent practice supervision experience and skills Tertiary qualifications in management, or relevant professional field. 3 Demonstrated ability to meet qualifications to be a suitably qualified person to chair the restricted practices panel, sign off on behaviour support plans and supervision behaviour practitioners. (minimum 5 years experience working in a behaviour support role) highly desirable. Demonstrated advanced practice knowledge in relevant professional field DELEGATION LEVEL Level 3 CORE COMPETENCIES OF THE ROLE Management Proactively manages any practice requirements and issues within Multi-disciplinary Supports service manager to deliver quality internal behaviour support, training and sexuality services from the Practice hub. Oversees Practice Hub budget through service manager Sets clear staff objectives and priorities and monitors their achievement Demonstrates effectiveness in planning, leading, organizing and directing staff and services Demonstrates a management style which promotes open communication, inclusive decision making and respect. Demonstrates capacity to make decisions that reflect appropriate consultation processes Monitors trends in the disability environment and actively contributes to the planning, development and implementation of new service initiatives Develops and reviews formal evaluation processes to ensure that programs continue to meet client s needs, improve outcomes for clients and meet the requirements for service agreements. Assists Manager Multi-disciplinary by reporting on the monitoring of services/resources to ensure that they are managed within current and projected budgets and staffing models Assists Northcott managers with feedback from internal training and support service Leadership Provides high level expert professional practice advice and assistance to others Actively participates and contributes to achievement of the Multi-disciplinary strategic and operational plans and drives delivery against it. Ensures continuous improvement of individuals, programs, and organisational performance (e.g., mentoring, monitoring progress, adjusting programs/ service delivery to achieve better results) Identifies and actions operational and / or strategic issues that impact widely across Multidisciplinary Oversees and drives the induction of staff, new graduate program and career progression from a quality perspective Practice Leads practice across multi-disciplinary services, clearly articulating Northcott s approach and its evidence base for that approach Ensures multi-disciplinary services work within a practice framework and customers receive high quality, evidence based and consistent service Participates/ collaborates in the design and conduct of quality improvement initiatives Participates in the research and evaluation of practice in collaboration with the research and evaluation team. 4 Takes responsibility and effectively deals with any escalated client concerns in a timely and courteous manner as required Represents Northcott at peak strategic forums, networks etc. when required Financial Impact Manages the Supervision and training of staff within the budget to ensure financial viability of service Manages practice hub budget through the service manager e.g. viability of training staff roles Problem Solving Ensures the analysis quantitative and qualitative data in relation to the performance of the Multidisciplinary Monitors trends, obstacles and opportunities in the internal/external business environment and develops appropriate strategies. Identifies, investigates and addresses issues with practice within a timely manner Innovation Fosters innovation within Multi-disciplinary delivery Encourages others to seek opportunities for different and innovative approaches to address problems and opportunities Ability to identify and adopt innovative practice models Please note this aspect may be rotated or changed according to the needs of the service DUTIES The typical duties of this position include: 1. Day to day coordination of practice and clinical support to all Multi-disciplinary staff 2. Ensure the quality delivery of Multi-disciplinary performance of service areas (hubs and shop fronts ) through supervision 3. If suitably qualified takes on role of suitably qualified person to sign off on Behaviour support plans and Chairs the Restricted Practise Authorisation panel 4. Ensures the provision of expert advice, reasoned recommendations and innovative solutions for the quality delivery of services 5. Day to day incident response including investigation and de-briefing for staff as required 6. Participates in Prevention and Response to Abuse and Neglect committee and process, 7. Supports transitions of new clients e.g. working with accommodation to support the develop of matching grids and plans, sign off on behaviour support safety protocols to enable commencement of service delivery 8. Day to day management of service manager practice Hub 9. Oversight of training delivery, incident response and investigation 10. Manages new graduate and student programs 11. Monitor Information Reports i.e. Carelink+ etc., analyse reports/ information regarding the delivery of Multi-disciplinary services and address any areas of concern within a timely manner. 12. Management of the Human Resources component for staff reporting directly to the role which includes induction and orientation leave approval and management, performance management etc. 13. Manage feedback, compliments and complaints providing information to Manager Multi-disciplinary 14. Build brand awareness to ensure that Northcott is consistently recognised as a leading Multidisciplinary provider. 15. Work constructively and cooperatively with regional managers and colleagues and key stakeholders (both internal and external). 16. Attending hub meetings and management meetings as required.
