JOB PURPOSE To manage the sorting and dispatch of donated and new goods stock within the warehouse environment, ensuring that quality and quantity is maintained, thereby enabling our retail outlets to achieve their sales targets and maximise income for Hospiscare. 3. KEY RESULT AREAS/PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 4.1 Key Performance Indicators Sales, profit and stock management Proactively manage the sorting of incoming/outgoing stock at HEC. Lead and motivate a team of Sorting Assistants and volunteers to ensure all donated stock is sorted to product type and to a specific quality for individual shops. Be actively engaged daily with the sorting process, ensuring that the correct stock source is retained throughout the process allowing for correct coding/pricing, initiating corrective action if stock processes are not being adhered to. Manage Gift Aid donated stock within the HEC, giving priority to the sorting of this stock, ensuring that the correct processes are followed for compliance with HMRC requirements; proactively address any Gift Aid issue to ensure maximum Gift Aid revenue is achieved. Ensure that stock is packed correctly to minimise damage and protect income. Oversee and manage the recycling element of unsellable donated stock within the sorting process, ensuring that it is separated into the correct recycling bags and boxes. Maintain and adjust stock profiles for each retail location to ensure optimum stock levels are achieved, liaising with the shop managers on stock availability to support/increase sales. 3 Work closely with the Shops Development Managers to ensure each retail department is receiving adequate stock to generate their required sales target and achieve KPIs. Put in place daily quality control checks within the sorting processes to ensure the standard of quality is consistent, items of value are not being disposed of, items suitable for upcycling are identified; act on feedback where substandard stock has been sent. Ensure that all donated stock carries the correct/current safety labels as stipulated by Trading Standards, communicating any changes from Trading Standards in a timely manner to relevant parties to ensure Hospiscare remains compliant. Proactively engage with shop managers and Ecommerce team regarding their stock requirements Manage the skill set of the team, sharing knowledge and best practice in order to increase sales and maximise all opportunities. Responsible for achievement of agreed KPIs in the following areas: 1. New goods 2. Volunteer hours in the sorting area of the warehouse at the HEC 3. Supporting the shops to achieve their donated goods sales budget New goods Utilising the technology available, ensure that stock fulfilment/replenishment is achieved, with robust processes to reach and exceed new goods budgets. Support the Merchandise Officer with the new goods operation to ensure fulfilment of new goods for retail locations, support groups and external supporters is achieved. Assist the Retail Operations Manager in the purchase/signing off of new goods, following trends to maximise sales opportunities. Reviewed: July 2018 Page 3 of 7

4 4.1.3 Line management duties Line manage Merchandise Officer (new goods) and three Sorting Assistants. Manage the performance of individual team members, ensuring their skills are developed to their maximum, whilst adhering to correct procedures in respect of HR policies and procedures, including induction, PDD (personal development discussion), capability, disciplinary, and managing for attendance. Working alongside the Volunteering Support Officer, proactively build, maintain and line manage a team of volunteers who assist with sorting, picking and dispatch at the Enterprise Centre. 4.2 Health & Safety Ensure that Health and Safety procedures and fire regulations are strictly adhered to Comply with safe working practices as defined by Hospiscare Complete online training as and when required Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by acts or omissions at work Report any accidents, incidents or near misses as soon as reasonably practicable 4.3 General Be aware of and adhere to Hospiscare policies at all times Take part in progress/performance reviews throughout the year Cooperate with other Hospiscare departments Attend training courses and complete online training modules as necessary to meet the requirements of the post Take responsibility for own personal development, seeking out opportunities to learn new skills Undertake any other duties as requested by management which are reasonably deemed to be within the scope of the role Reviewed: July 2018 Page 4 of 7

6 STOCK MANAGER Person Specification CRITERIA ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE Qualifications and specific training Knowledge of the law relating to sale of second hand goods Knowledge, skills and experience Full understanding of the charity shop environment Background in second hand items, including vintage/retro clothing, furniture and accessories Commercially aware of the High Street and with a keen interest in/knowledge of the latest fashions and trends in retailing Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of excellent customer service Excellent organisational and time management skills Strong delegation skills with the ability to build and motivate a team of staff and volunteers to successfully achieve set objectives Confident and effective communicator and relationship builder Able to work under own initiative and take proactive approach to changing business needs and objectives Competent IT skills (including , internet, MS Word) Working knowledge of Epos equipment Knowledge of Excel Experience of H&S within a warehouse environment Working with volunteers Reviewed: July 2018 Page 6 of 7
