1 COUNTY GOVERNMENT OF NYERI COUNTY PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD READVERTISEMENT RE: INTERNAL ADVERTISEMENT: VARIOUS POSTS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE Applications are invited from suitably qualified serving officers in the County Government of Nyeri for the positions shown herein in the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperative Development. AGRICULTURE DIRECTORATE PERSONNEL 1. DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF AGRICULTURE, JOB GROUP R. NUMBER OF POSTS-1 (ONE) a) Duties and responsibilities An officer at this level will be answerable to the Chief Officer and will be the head of the Directorate. Duties and responsibilities will involve: implementation of the Strategic Plan and objectives of the Directorate; handling technical, administrative, human resource, budgetary and assets management issues; team building and setting performance targets and standards in consultation with the Chief Officer; addressing stakeholders concerns and instituting operational accountability; and incorporating new initiatives into the Directorate s schemes of work. Further, duties and responsibilities will entail: modernize and make extension services responsive to customer needs; update and rationalize technical training; maximize sustainable gains from crop development activities in the 2 P a g e

3 county; device and apply strategies to maximize value of land and optimize its use for alternative purposes; promote value addition to agricultural produce; enhance synergies between the County and its Agencies and enhance gainful cooperation between the sector and stakeholders b) Requirement for appointment For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:- i. Served in the grade of Senior Assistant Director of Agriculture, or in a comparable an relevant position in the Public Service for at least three [3] years; ii. A Master s degree in any of the following fields: Food Science, Home Economics, Agriculture, Horticulture, Agriculture Economics, Agribusiness or Agriculture Extension and Education from a recognized institution; iii. A Certificate in Computer application; iv. Demonstrated a high degree of professional and technical competence as reflected in work performance and results; and v. Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme Course from a recognized institution. 2. SENIOR ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF AGRICULTURE, JOB GROUP Q. NUMBER OF POSTS-5 (FIVE) a) Duties and responsibilities An officer at this level will be deployed at the County Headquarters. The Officer may be deployed as the Deputy to the County Director of Agriculture. Duties and responsibilities will involve: implementation of the Strategic Plan and objectives of the Directorate, handling technical, administrative, budgetary and assets management issues; team building and setting performance targets and standards in consultation with the County Director of Agriculture; addressing stakeholders concerns. In addition, the Officer will be deployed as the subject matter specialist in charge of Horticulture, Industrial crops, Agribusiness and 3 P a g e

4 Value addition, Crops Development services and Principal of Agricultural Training Centre. b) Requirement for appointment For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: i. Served in the grade of Assistant Director of Agriculture in the Public Service for at least three [3] years; ii. A Master s degree in any of the following fields: Food Science, Home Economics, Agriculture, Horticulture, Agriculture Economics, Agribusiness or Agriculture Extension and Education from a recognized institution; and iii. Demonstrated a high degree of professional and technical competence as reflected in Work performance and results; iv. A Certificate in Computer application; v. Must have Certificate in Strategic leadership development programme from a recognized institution. 3. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF AGRICULTURE, JOB GROUP P. NUMBER OF POSTS-8 (EIGHT) a) Duties and responsibilities An officer at this level will be deployed at the Sub-County Headquarters. The officer will be deployed as the Sub-county Agricultural Officer [SCAO] to coordinate all agricultural services in the Sub-county. Duties and responsibilities will involve: implementation of the Strategic Plan and objectives of the Directorate at the Sub-County, handling technical, administrative, human resource, budgetary and assets management issues; team building and setting performance targets and standards in consultation with the County Director of Agriculture and addressing stakeholders concerns. Other duties will involve compilation of field reports, organizing and facilitating training 4 P a g e

5 programmes in liaison with relevant institutions and agencies to provide and maintain data for effective decision making. b) Requirement for appointment For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:- i. Served in the grade of Principal Agricultural Officer in the Public Service for at least three [3] years; ii. A Master s Degree in any of the following fields: Food Science, Home Economics, Agriculture, Horticulture,Agriculture Economics, Natural Resource Management, Agribusiness, Agriculture Extension, Agriculture Education, or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; iii. A Certificate in Computer application and iv. Demonstrated a high degree of professional, technical competence and team building as reflected in work performance and results. 4. PRINCIPAL AGRICULTURAL OFFICER, JOB GROUP N. NUMBER OF POSTS-4 (FOUR) a) Duties and responsibilities An officer at this level will be deployed at the Sub-County as a subject matter Specialist. The Officer may be deployed as the Deputy to the Sub-county Agricultural Officer. Duties as a Sub-county Subject Matter Specialist [SMS] will entail coordination of any of the following programmes: Gender and Home management; Land Development and Environmental Management; Crop Development; Projects Monitoring and Evaluation; Extension, Research Liaison and Training; or Promotion and development of Agribusiness activities. 5 P a g e

A Bachelor s Degree in any of the following fields: Food Science, Home Economics, Agriculture, Horticulture,Agriculture Economics, Agribusiness, Agriculture Extension and Education, or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; iii. A Certificate in Computer application and iv. Demonstrated a high degree of professional and technical competence as reflected in work performance and results. 5. CHIEF AGRICULTURAL OFFICER, JOB GROUP M. NUMBER OF POSTS-6 (SIX) a) Duties and responsibilities An officer at this level will be deployed at the Sub-County as a subject matter Specialist or at the Agricultural Training Centre as a Farm manager or Agroprocessing officer. Duties as a Sub-county Subject Matter Specialist [SMS] will entail coordination of any of the following programmes: Gender and Home management; Land Development and Environmental Management; Crop Development; Projects Monitoring and Evaluation; Extension, Research Liaison and Training; or Promotion and development of Agribusiness activities. At the Agricultural Training Centre, the officer will be responsible for overall farm management or promotion of agro-processing technologies. b) Requirement for appointment For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:- i. Served in the grade of Senior Agricultural Officer in the Public Service for at least three [3] years; 6 P a g e

A Bachelor s Degree in any of the following fields: Food Science, Home Economics, Agriculture, Horticulture,Agriculture Economics, Agribusiness, Agriculture Extension and Education, or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; iii. Attended a management course lasting not less than four [4] weeks from recognized Institution; iv. A Certificate in Computer application and v. Demonstrated a high degree of administrative capability, technical and professional competence as reflected in work performance and results. 6. CHIEF ASSISTANT AGRICULTURAL OFFICER JOB GROUP M. NUMBER OF POSTS-18 (EIGHTEEN) a) Duties and responsibilities An officer at this level will be deployed at the Sub-County as a subject matter Specialist, at the Agricultural Training Centre as a Farm manager, crops or Agro-processing officer or as a ward agricultural officer. Duties as a Subcounty Subject Matter Specialist [SMS] will entail coordination of any of the following programmes: Gender and Home management; Land Development and Environmental Management; Crop Development; Projects Monitoring and Evaluation; Extension, Research Liaison and Training; or Promotion and development of Agribusiness activities. At the Agricultural Training Centre, the officer will be responsible for overall farm management, crop development and promotion of agro-processing technologies. At the ward, the Officer will be responsible for the overall administration and management of agricultural activities. b) Requirement for appointment For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:- i. Served in the grade of Senior Assistant Agricultural Officer in the Public Service for at least three [3] years; 7 P a g e

A Diploma in any of the following fields: Food Science, Home Economics, Agriculture, Horticulture,Agriculture Economics, Agribusiness, Agriculture Extension and Education, or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; iii. Attended a management course lasting not less than four [4] weeks from recognized institution; i. A Certificate in Computer application and ii. Demonstrated a high degree of professional and technical competence as reflected in work performance and results. 7. SENIOR ASSISTANT AGRICULTURAL OFFICER JOB GROUP L. NUMBER OF POSTS-15 (FIFTEEN) a) Duties and responsibilities An Officer at this level will be deployed in a Ward or ATC. The officer will be responsible for the overall administration and management of agricultural activities in the ward and Farm manager in an Agricultural Training Center [ATC]. Specific duties will involve overseeing the implementation of project work plans, preparation and execution of training programmes. As a farm manager, the officer will be required to prepare and execute farm plans to ensure efficient running of the farm. b) Requirement for appointment For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:- i. Served in the grade of Assistant Agricultural Officer I/ Chief Agricultural Assisting the Public Service for at least three [3] years; ii. A diploma in any of the following fields: Agriculture, Food Technology, Agriculture and Home Economics, Agricultural Education, Horticulture or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized qualification; and iii. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results. 8 P a g e

9 6. CHIEF AGRICULTURAL ASSISTANT JOB GROUP K. NUMBER OF POSTS-1 (ONE) a) Duties and responsibilities An Officer at this level will be deployed in a Ward. The officer will be responsible for the overall administration and management of agricultural activities in the ward. The officer may also be deployed in specific project areas as Crop Production, Land Development or Project Management. The officer may also be assigned a supervisory role over a number of Agricultural Assistants deployed in working units and /or projects. b) Requirement for appointment For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:- i. Served in the grade of Senior Agricultural Assistant in the public Service for at least three [3] years; ii. Attended a departmental training course in participatory approaches or supervision; And iii. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results. B. AGRICULTURAL TECHNICIANS 1. CHIEF SUPERINTENDENT (AGRICULTURE), JOB GROUP M. NUMBER OF POSTS-3 (THREE) (a) Duties and Responsibilities An officer at this level may be deployed in a Sub-county, a specialized engineering project or in a scheme. Specific duties will involve co-ordination of activities related to environment and land use management; soil and water Conservation; water harvesting mechanization extension; Farm Structures, Agro-processing; and training and supervising project staff. 10 also be deployed in an Agricultural Mechanization Station or Rural Technology Development Centre as a Technology demonstration officer. (b) Requirements for Appointment For appointment to this grade, an officer must have; i. served in the grade of Senior Superintendent (Agriculture) in the Public Service for a minimum period of three (3) years; ii. demonstrated a high degree of technical competence, merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; iii. Diploma or Technician part III certificate in a field of Agricultural Engineering such as soil and water, mechanization/farm power, structures, surveying; and iv. Attended a Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution. C. ENGINEERING PERSONNEL 1. PRINCIPAL SUPERINTENDING ENGINEER (AGRICULTURE), JOB GROUP Q. NUMBER OF POSTS-1 (ONE) a) Duties and responsibilities An officer at this level will be deployed at the County headquarters to head agricultural Engineering services. The officer will be the overall coordinator of Agricultural Engineering services in the Directorate. The specific duties will include; implementation of policies, programmes and projects in agricultural engineering with regard to mechanization, post-harvest technologies, crop production and protection, environmental and waste management, land and water resources conservation and development and coordinate the implementation of research programmes in liaison with other relevant institutions and research bodies. 10 P a g e

11 b) Requirements for appointment i. Served in the grade of Chief Superintendent Engineer (Agriculture) in the Public Service for at least three [3] years; ii. A Master s degree in any of the following fields in Agricultural Engineering such as soil and water, mechanization/farm power and structures. iii. Demonstrated a high degree of professional and technical competence as reflected in Work performance and results; iv. Be registered by the Engineers Registration Board; v. A Certificate in Computer application; and vi. Must have Certificate in Senior Management Course from a recognized institution. 2. CHIEF SUPERINTENDING ENGINEER (AGRICULTURE), JOB GROUP P. NUMBER OF POSTS-1 (ONE) a) Duties and responsibilities An officer at this level will be deployed at the Agricultural Mechanization Station as the head. The officer will coordinate and supervise all the administrative and professional activities in the station. Specific duties will include; research development, maintenance of station s machinery, field demonstrations, preparation of work plans and budget, designing and developing technologies for soil and water conservation including drains, water ways, terraces, waterholes, and small earth dams, preparation of reports on soil and water conservation projects, extension and rehabilitation of such projects and supervision of soil and water conservation. b) Requirements for appointment i. Served in the grade of Senior Superintendent Engineer (Agriculture) in the Public Service for at least three [3] years; 11 P a g e

12 ii. A Master s degree in any of the following fields in Agricultural Engineering such as soil and water, mechanization/farm power and structures. iii. Demonstrated a high degree of professional and technical competence as reflected in Work performance and results; iv. Be registered by the Engineers Registration Board; and v. A Certificate in Computer application. 3. SENIOR SUPERINTENDING ENGINEER (AGRICULTURE), JOB GROUP N. NUMBER OF POSTS-1 (ONE) a) Duties and responsibilities An officer at this level will be deployed at the Agricultural Mechanization Station. The officer will deputize the station Manager. Specific duties will include; implementation of programmes in soil and water conservation, mechanization extension, agro-processing, planning activities and preparation of reports. b) Requirements for appointment 2. Served in the grade of Superintending Engineer (Agriculture) in the Public Service for at least three [3] years; 3. A Bachelor s degree in any of the following fields in Agricultural Engineering such as soil and water, mechanization/farm power and structures. 4. Be registered by the Engineers Registration Board; 5. Have attended a management course lasing lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution; and 6. 13 4. SUPERINTENDING ENGINEER (AGRICULTURE), JOB GROUP M. NUMBER OF POSTS-1 (ONE) a) Duties and responsibilities An officer at this level will be deployed at the Agricultural Mechanization Station. The officer will deputize the station Manager. Specific duties will include; implementation of programmes in soil and water conservation, mechanization extension, agro-processing, planning activities and preparation of reports. b) Requirements for appointment i. Served in the grade of Engineer 1 (Agriculture) in the Public Service for at least three [3] years; ii. A Bachelor s degree in any of the following fields in Agricultural Engineering such as soil and water, mechanization/farm power and structures. iii. Be registered by the Engineers Registration Board; iv. Have attended a management course lasing lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution; and v. Have shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; vi. A Certificate in Computer application. D. ARTISANS 1. ARTISAN I, JOB GROUP `G`. NUMBER OF POSTS-1 (ONE) (a) Duties and Responsibilities An officer at this level will work under minimal supervision and duties will include improvement works, more complex repairs and maintenance works and routine checks in line with their area of specialization (Carpentry, Masonry, Welding, Painting and Plumbing.) 13 P a g e

14 (b) Requirements for Appointment For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:- i. served in the grade of Artisan II in the Public Service for at least three (3) years; ii. Government Trade Test Certificate Grade III in the relevant trade area (Carpentry, Masonry, Welding, Painting and Plumbing.) iii. Shown merit and ability in work performance and results. 2. SENIOR CHARGEHAND, JOB GROUP `J`. NUMBER OF POSTS-3 (THREE) (a) Duties and Responsibilities An officer at this level will be the overall in-charge of the Artisans and Chargehands in line with their area of specialization (Carpentry, Masonry, Welding, Painting and Plumbing). Duties at this level will entail preparation of improvement, repair and maintenance schedules; managing maintenance workshops; supervising, training and guiding other staff. (b) Requirements for Appointment For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:- (i) Served in the grade of Chargehand in the Public Service for at least three (3) years; (ii) Government Trade Test Certificate Grade III in the relevant trade area (Carpentry, Masonry, Welding, Painting and Plumbing.) NUMBER OF POSTS-1 (ONE) (a) Duties and Responsibilities An officer at this level will be the overall in-charge of the Artisans and Chargehands in line with their area of specialization (Carpentry, Masonry, Welding, Painting and Plumbing). Duties at this level will entail preparation of improvement, repair and maintenance schedules; managing maintenance workshops; supervising, training and guiding other staff. (c) Requirements for Appointment For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:- (iii) Served in the grade of Senior Chargehand in the Public Service for at least three (3) years; (iv) Government Trade Test Certificate Grade III in the relevant trade area (Carpentry, Masonry, Welding, Painting and Plumbing.) (iii) Demonstrated ability to organise works, train and supervise junior staff; and 4. Shown merit and ability in work performance and results E. HOSPITALITY SERVICES PERSONNEL 1. HOSPITALITY OFFICER I, JOB GROUP K. NUMBER OF POSTS-1 (ONE) (a)duties and Responsibilities An officer at this level may be deployed either in housekeeping and kitchen service area. Specific duties and responsibilities will entail: coordinating training of staff working under him/her; carrying out training needs 15 P a g e

16 assessment yearly; developing standard operating procedures; enforcing the use of standard operating procedures; continuous monitoring of the use of standard operating procedures and ensuring smooth inter-sectional relations. (b)requirements for Appointment For appointment to the grade of Hospitality Officer I, an officer must have; (i) served satisfactorily in the grade of Hospitality Officer, Housekeeper/ Chef/Head Waiter for a period of not less than three (3) years; (ii) Diploma in any of the following disciplines; Food Production, Food and Beverage Service and Housekeeping and Laundry or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and (iii) Demonstrated ability and merit as reflected in work performance results. 2. CHEF, JOB GROUP J. NUMBER OF POSTS-1 (ONE) (a) Duties and Responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities at this level will entail: efficient and proper organization and management of food production services; ensuring that all raw foods to be used in production are assembled in good time; issuing from the store; taking stock monthly; receiving fresh produce and check required specifications; ensuring proper placement of food in the buffet, following up on work orders for defective equipment; ensuring proper equipment; reviewing menus as necessary; identifying staff for training and carrying out on- the- job training for staff. (b)requirements for Appointment For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: (i) satisfactorily served in the grade of Assistant Chef for at least three (3) years; (ii) Diploma in any of the following disciplines; Food Production, Food and Beverage Service and Housekeeping and Laundry or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and 16 P a g e

17 (iii) Demonstrated knowledge and skills in institutional food preparation. F. LIVESTOCK DIRECTORATE PERSONNEL 1. Deputy Director of Livestock Production, Job Group R 1 Post (a) Duties and Responsibilities The County Director of Livestock Production will be responsible to the Chief Officer, Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperative Development, for planning, directing, controlling and coordinating of Livestock Development policies and programmes namely: Range Management, Animal Production, Apiculture, Emerging livestock, and livestock extension services, Livestock Marketing, Agri-business value addition and quality assurance of livestock products and by-products; projection of Training of human resource requirements for the directorate; Co-ordination, monitoring and evaluation of projects; planning, controlling and coordinating of activities within his/her division; Ensuring timely compilation of reports, briefs, budget estimates, and other write-ups; Development and maintenance of livestock database and market information intelligence system. Facilitate market research for enterprise; Develop and/or strengthen livestock marketing infrastructure in collaboration with relevant organizations; Assigning duties and supervising officers; Initiation, coordination and supervising implementation of all livestock projects; (b) Requirements for Appointments For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:- (i) served in the grade of Senior Assistant Director of Livestock Production or in a comparable and relevant position in the public service for a minimum period of three (3) years; (ii) attended a Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not 17 P a g e

18 (iii) (iv) (v) less than four (4) weeks in a recognized Institution; Masters of Science degree in any of the following disciplines:-animal Science/Animal Production, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Food Science and Technology, Agriculture and Home Economics, Range Management/Natural Resource Management, Livestock/Agricultural Economics and Dairy Technology, Agricultural Extension or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and Shown merit and exemplary work performance in their field of specialization and demonstrated a high degree of professional competence and administrative ability. Certificate in computer application skills. 2. Senior Assistant Director of Livestock Production, Job Group Q 3 Post (a) Duties and Responsibilities An Officer at this grade will be deployed at the County Headquarters as subject matter specialist in charge of dairy development, Animal production, Marketing and Value addition. At the County the officer will deputise the County Director of Livestock Production. The specific duties will include: Assist in planning and budgeting; coordination of county extension activities; organisation of shows and exhibition; preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the County. At the County the officer will also be responsible of work planning and budgeting, participation in policy development and implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects, control and coordination of activities; preparation of regular progress reports; maintenance of livestock data and records. Certificate in computer application skills 3. Assistant Director of Livestock Production, Job Group P - 2 Posts (a) Duties and Responsibilities An Officer at this level will be deployed at the Sub county Headquarters as the head of the directorate. At the Sub County the specific activities will include; interpretation and implementation of policies, provision of technical advice to Sub County subject matter specialists and stakeholders, coordination and promotion of livestock extension services such clean milk production, animal breeding, livestock feeding and nutrition; participation in sub county development for a such as Sub county Development Committees; budgeting and management of resources allocated to the sub county. (b) Requirements for Appointment For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: - 19 P a g e

20 (i) (ii) (iii) (iv) served in the grade of Principal Livestock Production Officer or in a comparable and relevant position in the public service for a minimum period of three (3) years; Masters of Science degree in any of the following disciplines:-animal Science/Animal Production, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Food Science and Technology, Agriculture and Home Economics, Range Management/Natural Resource Management, Livestock/Agricultural Economics and Dairy Technology, Agricultural Extension or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; shown merit in their field of specialization and demonstrated a high degree of professional competence and management ability; and Certificate in computer application skills. 4. Principal Livestock Production Officer, Job Group N 3 Posts (a) Duties and Responsibilities An Officer at this level will be deployed at the Sub County. At the Sub County the Officer will deputise the assistant director of livestock production or be deployed as a Subject Matter Specialist. Specific activities will include; assisting in the management of allocated resources, planning and budgeting and coordination of livestock production activities. He/she will be responsible for organization and coordination of professional group meetings, agricultural exhibitions, preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports in the area of specialization. Chief Livestock Production Officer, Job Group M 2 Post (a) Duties and Responsibilities An Officer at this level will report to the Assistant Director of Livestock Production or a Principal Livestock Production Officer and will be deployed at Sub County as a subject matter specialist in his /her area of specialisation. Specific duties and responsibilities will include: providing technical advice to the clients and field staff, presenting papers and assisting in organising /co-ordinating workshops at professional group meetings, backstopping and supervising field staff. At the Sub County level the Officer will be in charge of special livestock programmes such as animal breeding, nutrition or range management. (b) Requirements for Appointment For appointment to this grade, an Officer must have:- (i) served in the grade of Senior Livestock Production Officer or in a 21 P a g e

Chief Assistant Livestock Production Officer- Job Group M - 8 Posts (a) Duties and Responsibilities An Officer at this level may be deployed at the Ward Level as the ward extension Officer or at Wambugu ATC in charge of livestock activities. The specific duties and responsibilities will include: planning and budgeting, implementation of livestock projects. In addition, the Officer will prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the ward. At the ward level the officer will coordinate any of the following programmes; Animal Production, Range Management, promotion of Livestock Agribusiness, Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Research-Extension Liaison, Livestock Marketing, Apiculture and cross-cutting issues such as Gender coordination, HIV/AIDS and the Environmental Concerns. The County Director of veterinary services will be answerable to the Chief Officer Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperative development for overall strategic policy direction, development, formulation, review and implementation of veterinary functions. Specific duties will entail;- providing technical advice on veterinary services functions to the county Government; directing animal disease and pest control, veterinary diagnostic services, bio safety and quality assurance of inputs and products, zoological services, hides, skins and leather development, veterinary public health; animal reproduction, extension and animal programme, guiding the setting of animal research agenda and development; approving slaughterhouse design, collaborating with approved, regional and internationals bodies in the field of animal health and trade; rectify trade protocols in food and feedstuff; regulating the production and distribution of animal genetic materials; overseeing the management of animal health and veterinary public health. In addition the officer will be responsible for;- coordinating the implementation of the department s strategic plans and realization of their objectives; overseeing preparation and implementation of performance appraisal systems and performance of the directorate; ensuring compliance with principles and values of good governance, transparency,accountability, ethics and integrity. (a) Duties and Responsibilities An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a more experienced officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:-participating in animal health field demonstrations and agricultural shows: participating in sample collection and dispatch; inspecting livestock routes; collecting data and writing technical reports; demonstrating and training on milking techniques and external parasite control such as dipping, spraying and dusting; carrying 30 P a g e

(b) Requirements for Appointment For appointment to this grade an officer must have i. Served at the grade of Assistant Animal Health Officer II for a minimum period of three(3) years ii. A Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Animal Health, Animal Health and Production, Veterinary Public Health and Meat Technology, Animal Production and Health Management or Animal Husbandry from a recognized institution. iii. Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board: iv. A certificate in computer applications and v.
