2 About Compass CBS Compass Career and Business Solutions, LLC (Compass CBS) has been nationally recognized by the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as a leading Hispanic-owned bilingual business development and training center in Arizona. Compass CBS started serving business owners since 2011 and officially opened the doors to the first bilingual training center in Downtown Phoenix in March 2016, which has served over 10,000 predominantly Spanish-speaking business owners in less than 14 months. The types of businesses that Compass CBS serves ranges from start-ups to advanced businesses that generate over $5 million in annual revenue from various sectors public, non-profit, and private. The center offers bilingual business owners a business gym membership, which is the business and computer skills learning center called the Compass Club, and a business clinic which is a one-stop-shop for business support services such as loan attainment, business planning, business filings, corporate training and executive coaching. The team consists of bilingual experts with over 30 years of experience in areas of leadership, financial literacy, computer skills, and business development. 3 Leadership Program Overview: Our highly interactive workshops are designed for new and existing supervisors who want to develop their management skills fast and achieve leadership success. Our comprehensive leadership training program covers proven management techniques and powerful strategies needed to become an effective, more confident and empowered leader. We will teach your leaders how establish credibility and authority fast, how to motivate employees, how to handle attitude and behavioral issues, how to reduce absenteeism and tardiness, how to give constructive feedback and how to conduct effective performance appraisals. Participants will receive self-assessment tools, useful checklists, and numerous other resources that give insight into how to build on your teams' supervisory strengths. Our goal is to provide your supervisors the skills needed to succeed within their roles. We will provide certificates of completion for each graduate at the end of the program. The Leadership Academy is 6-month program where participants engage as a cohort and graduate the program with a leadership certificate. The Leadership Academy includes monthly group trainings paired with 60-minute executive coaching sessions with each leader. This method is the most effective in creating a more positive and productive impact because we extend what is taught in the classroom in the coaching sessions and tie in leadership assignments, assessments and personal accountability on their goals. We have also found that this approach is effective because it creates a sense of unity amongst the leadership team and it allows for a harmonious culture to develop. 4 LEADERSHIP PROGRAM SCHEDULE LEVEL 1 Monthly workshops designed to target key supervisory skills development and empower leadership teams to work more effectively with their frontline teams. Management teams will be trained to grow their responsibilities and gain a stronger sense of autonomy allowing the company to focus on growth and sustainability strategies. Each employee will be given professional development support to become more effective and efficient at their roles thus increasing productivity and revenue. Program Topics & Leadership Academy Level 1 Month 1 Leadership Fundamentals and Defining Leadership Styles This workshop covers skills for emerging leaders to become successful within their new supervisory role. We will discuss how to overcome many of the supervisory problems encountered as a new leader as well as an overview on goal development and effective communication techniques with teams. Crucial differences between being the leader and "being the boss" How to acquire a supervisor's mind-set and image The emotional requirements of being a supervisor Most common mistakes new supervisors make and how to avoid them Month 2 Building a Highly-Motivated Team Participants will learn techniques for conducting disciplinary conversations with employees and how to utilize those opportunities to re-establish goals and corrective action steps. We will discuss proper ways to handle difficult situations and sensitive matters relating to employee development. The goal of this class is to strengthen the supervisor/managers ability to remain poised, focused, and sensitive to the goals of the organization and team. This workshop is an interactive course designed to give participants the tools to communicate more effectively with colleagues and clients, making your communication more impactful, persuasive and confident. Leaders with the ability to provide effective coaching skills can create a self-sustaining, positive, and efficient workplace. 6 LEADERSHIP PROGRAM SCHEDULE LEVEL 2 Program Topics & Leadership Academy Level 2 Month 1 Communication Skills This workshop is tailored to address all of the basic components of effective communication in the workplace and daily life. This workshop is an interactive course designed to give participants the tools to communicate more effectively with colleagues and clients, making your communication more impactful, persuasive and confident. The goal is to equip participants with a range of new techniques that will help them to: Listen carefully and speak more confidently to build rapport Analyze and use body language with purpose Lead conversations and influence people Enhance their professionalism at work Month 2 Business Professionalism 101 Professionals project an image of maturity and integrity that creates credibility; a confident attitude and the ability to build trust and develop relationships that create results. Organizations expect promoted employees to represent the organization in a socially acceptable way. It's important that professionals and managers alike learn proper business etiquette and manners. The important message is that good manners are about making other people feel comfortable and being confident in a business or social setting representing your organization. Understand business etiquette. Know how comfort zones work and how they are established. Learn basic guidelines for being the new person on the team. Gain insight on the art of introductions. How to conduct business meetings. How to write thank you notes. Become a contributing team member. Month 3 Organizational Effectiveness Staying organized is the key to becoming effective in the workplace and stay true to the company mission. Participants will learn how to prioritize tasks, ideas to get organized, gain control when you are feeling overworked, overcommitted, and overwhelmed. Explore ideas and create an action plan for reducing clutter and increasing effectiveness. Understand and demonstrate the use of to-do lists and prioritization. 7 Month 4 Performance Management This course is for supervisors who wish to better understand themselves and others through completing and interpreting personality typing, to develop their problem solving and decision-making skills, and to explore performance management issues. Preparing effectively for the performance appraisal discussion Variables that make for a good setting Opening and framing the conversation Questions to use to engage the employee in his/her self-appraisal Communicating your assessment of the employee s performance Preparing the employee for next steps Demonstrating an effective close Month 5 Task Delegation & Project Management People who are good at managing projects and daily tasks understand the value of delegation. They are able to balance workloads, focus on strengths, and develop others. This interactive workshop focuses exclusively on delegation skills. Participants will explore ways to delegate, follow delegation models, barriers to successful delegation, and a proven process for generating buy-in, confirming authority, monitoring tasks, and rewarding good performance. Describe the value of delegation. Recognize barriers to successful delegation. Explain the steps in effective delegation. Choose the right person for the right task. Delegate the correct level of authority. Use questions to generate buy-in, coach, and confirm understanding. Monitor delegated tasks. 8 EXECUTIVE COACHING SESSIONS Each supervisor will be getting a one-hour executive coaching session with a Leadership Coach. The purpose of these sessions is to coach the supervisors to develop their management skills fast and achieve leadership success. The Leadership Coach will share proven management techniques and powerful strategies needed to become an effective, more confident and empowered leader. We will coach them on how to establish credibility and authority fast, how to motivate employees, how to handle attitude and behavioral issues, how to reduce absenteeism and tardiness, how to give constructive feedback and how to conduct effective performance appraisals. SUPERVISOR COACHING Monthly schedules will be created 1-week prior to starting the program. All coaching sessions will be scheduled in advance with all participants during regular business hours or as employee schedule permits. Each session covers the following areas: Assistance with overcoming workplace challenges Motivational support Guidance with goal setting & task management Extended learning & assignments in each session Setting expectations & accountability MANAGER MASTERMINDS Monthly meeting scheduled with key managers to discuss monthly goals and strategies. These sessions work well in addition to the leadership academy. MICROSOFT COURSES Using Microsoft Excel can really take your work and manual records to the next level. You know how to work a computer but could really find a way to organize your data and create calculations that make sense for you. This class teaches you the fundamental framework of Excel so you can feel confident to create awesome spreadsheets. This class covers: Navigate the Excel User Interface Create and Save a Basic Workbook Performing Calculations Modifying a Worksheet Add Borders and Colors to Worksheets Apply Number Formatting Apply Basic Conditional Formatting Preview and Print a Workbook Manage Workbook and Worksheet Views Using Microsoft PowerPoint is the most popular way to communicate visually what you want to say and how you want to say it. Your colleagues expect you to present for meetings, special occasions, and many other needs. It will also help to better interact with Englishspeaking guests by closing the communication and cultural gaps, resulting in improved service and understanding of your company s operations.
