1 Position offer: Opto-mechanical Engineer Candidate brief for the position of: Opto-mechanical Engineer CD6 at a glance The CD6 is a technological innovation center located at the Campus of the UPC in Terrassa (near Barcelona, Spain), which operates in the field of Optics and Photonics Engineering. The CD6 is established in 1997 with the aim of fostering the R+D activities in the field of Optical Engineering and its activity is aimed at creating value through innovation. Applied research developed by CD6 is defined in order the new knowledge generated, reaches the market as new products or new processes. Over 40 people with complementary expertise (Optics, Electronics, Mechanical and Software) work at CD6. This multidisciplinary combination is necessary to develop applications with a short time-to-market. The research results achieved at CD6 have led to the creation of several spin-off companies that manufacture and market news products in different sectors. CD6 activity focuses on developing research and technology applications in the field of Optical Engineering. The center's researchers are working on four major areas of research: Optical design and simulation Metrology Visual Optics Color and Spectral Technologies Moreover, the knowledge gained in these lines, results in applications that are transferred to industry. This transfer occurs primarily within the following areas of innovation: Design of optical systems and sensors Instrumentation Development Optical metrology Biomedical Instrumentation Optical sensors for Smart Cities Energy-efficient illumination systems Optical techniques for nondestructive testing (NDT) Color and Spectral Technologies

2 Please, visit our web for further information: Job Description Role Overview As the main activity of the CD6 is related with Optical Design the candidate must carry out opto-mechanical engineering services for private and public contracts awarded to CD6. The main activity will be focused in the design of barrels, housings and fixing systems of lenses for image formation systems for ophthalmic devices covering all the stages of the product; form prototypes to ready-to-delivery devices. Principal Accountabilities 1. Opto-mechanical tasks in CD6 contracts 2. Contributing to design work into CD6 Optical engineering projects 3. Participate in optical engineering field as team worker. 4. Working under supervision on an assigned research/developing task. 5. Carrying out any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the Manager. Person Specification The ideal candidate will demonstrate the appropriate mix of knowledge, experience, skills, talent and abilities as outlined below Knowledge Evidence Opto-mechanic knowledge. Evidence of familiarly with the subject matter of Opto-mechanical design and its specific materials and procedures. Working knowledge in engineering design process Evidence of knowledge and experience with different research methodologies, and appropriate software. Experience At least 1 years post primary degree relevant experience. Experience of working in a research/development environment Experience of multi disciplinary working Skills, talents & abilities Effective written and verbal communication skills (essential) Fluent written and verbal communication in English Evidence of ability to analyze and write up data Ability to present complex information effectively to a range of audiences Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team

Salary This post will be remunerated according to the candidate capabilities. Working Hours A 37,5 hour working week is in operation. Having regard to the nature of the work, attendance outside these hours may be required from time to time.
