1 SUPPORT OFFICER POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title: Responsible To: Council Program: Support Officer Senior Coordinator Safety & Ageing Community & Culture Classification Level: Salaried, Level 3 Overview of Program The Community & Culture Program exists to enable the Community to thrive. Key Relationships / Interactions Internal External Staff members across the Community & Culture Program City of Adelaide (CoA) staff members across all Portfolios and Programs City of Adelaide residents Resident associations Contractors and consultants

2 Primary Purpose Responsibilities As part of the Community & Culture Program the Support Officer will; Provide administrative support to the Wellbeing and Resilience team. Provide project support to the Safety & Ageing team. The Support Officer is responsible for; Performing the administrative functions required to deliver Healthy Ageing and Social Programs, including but not limited to the Commonwealth Home Support Program and Council funded services. Coordinating Councils healthy ageing social programs including supporting activities, liaising with key stakeholders and promotion to the community. Coordinating content for the Safety & Ageing quarterly newsletter. Supporting the team to deliver projects and initiatives that enable the community to activate key areas to increase perceptions of safety. Attending and contributing to community conversations, as well as supporting senior staff. Providing administrative support to the Safety and Ageing and the Wellbeing and Resilience team, including but not limited to developing correspondence, coordinating meetings, catering and liaising with key stakeholders. Timely and accurate updating and maintenance of Council s databases. Ensuring internal and external customers receive brilliant customer service, with a particular focus on the promotion of ageing in place and reducing social isolation. Supporting the work of the team to deliver all initiatives and projects using the principles of Asset Based Community Development. Supporting the team to manage budgets, contracts and Council reporting for all Safety and Ageing activities. Assisting with the successful delivery of the Wellbeing and Resilience team s Strategic Plan actions and strategic priorities. 3 Selection Criteria Candidates should ensure that their application clearly demonstrates their ability to meet the Criteria detailed below. Qualifications People Management Financial Skills & Acumen Technical Knowledge & Experience A tertiary qualification, Diploma or Certificate IV in Social Work, Community Development or Business Administration or related field and/or commensurate demonstrated experience in lieu of formal qualifications. Understanding the issues and trends affecting older people and those experiencing social isolation. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team. Experience in handling cash and sound numeracy skills Experience with reconciling receipts and petty cash, and the processing of invoices. Knowledge of crime prevention, emergency management and community safety issues and trends and the range of issues that impact on safety and people s perception of safety relevant to Capital Cities. Desirable Desirable Project Management Experience in project support of community or public events and activities. Innovation & Initiative Resource Management & Decision Making Professional Development Customer Commitment & Integrity Collaboration & Communication Innovative and practical approach to problem solving and negotiation. Experience providing brilliant customer service to both internal and external stakeholders, including older people. A strong commitment to internal and external customers demonstrated through the provision of timely, reliable advice on matters within area of responsibility. Demonstrated high level of personal integrity. Commitment to development of strong working and collaborative relationships at all levels within the organisation. 4 Administrative Skills Experience in the use of social media and associated communication technologies such as the development of e-newsletter. High level of competency in Microsoft Office suite. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet competing deadlines. Sound verbal and written communication skills. Formal documentation experience. Knowledge of SMS, TRIM, My Aged Care or other comparable databases. Desirable Government Experience Experience working in a government environment. 6 Special Conditions Performance will be based upon the delivery of the agreed goals recorded in your Performance Review documentation. Some out of hours work may be required in order to meet the requirement of the role. An unencumbered Drivers Licence may be required. A satisfactory Police Clearance may be required.
