2 Program overview Working in a world class resort, we are sure you will love Canada for its scenery, its way of life and most of all the people you ll meet along the way. From coast to coast, Canada is fi lled with unexpected wonders which are sure to awaken your inner explorer! We have partnered with a Canadian partner to offer you all round support to allow you to secure the best possible placement opportunity in the hospitality industry. The Hospitality Program offers you a placement starting in the summer or winter season in some of the most amazing resort communities on earth as well as major urban areas such as Vancouver. Working in a resort community offers an amazing chance to meet many other international travellers, see the great Canadian wilderness and live and work in one of the most beautiful places in the world. We need your fl exibility concerning start dates (either start at the beginning of summer or the beginning of winter), your ability to commit to a full season or more (ideally a full year, knowing that the shoulder season you may have to take vacation or be prepared to get very few hours for a month or two), and of course fl exibility concerning the positions. Typical Host employers Positions are generally in customer service, restaurants, hotels or in hospitality industry support areas. Participants can expect to be paid prevailing wage rates for any positions they secure. Opportunities are based on prior experience, language, duration of your commitment and start date.

4 What s included in the program? Your success here is mostly down to you, and is determined by your attitude. You also need to be physically and mentally fit. The program is not a package holiday. Paying and turning up does not guarantee success here. You have to engage fully, get completely involved in everything, be energetic, hard working, willing to learn and try new things, and become good at fi nding ways to be useful. This will shape the way your experience develops Step by step assistance from interview guidance to completing all necessary paperwork to obtain a work visa, assistance with fl ights, travel insurances as well as an opportunity to meet other adventurous travelers at orientation Placement opportunities based on your goals and background from world class ski resorts in the Canadian Rockies to major urban areas such as Vancouver Accommodation arrangement (in some cases there are additional fees depending on your choice of accommodation) Access to participant house and homestay services Arrival package: including orientation manual, safety plan, maps, travel/tourism options, discount vouchers, etc. 2 Nights accommodation in a downtown Vancouver hostel before making your way to your host employer Orientation on how to get the most out of your Canadian experience based on your specifi c program Program-specifi c information concerning restrictions and obligations of the host organization and participant Ongoing support concerning all aspects of your stay including accommodation, placement issues, health concerns, visa issues, etc. 24 hour emergency number Costs Spending money Please refer to separate budget for full breakdown of costs All applicants need to arrive with a minimum of CA $1000 in support funds to pay for things such as food, accommodation, travel and other expenses until they receive their fi rst pay check. All applicants are also recommended to travel with a credit card. Wages Applicants can look to earn $12-$15 per hour. Should one work overtime then one will be remunerated typically time and half. Each host employer in Canada has a different wage system depending on their business, so wages may be higher than others. All relevant remuneration details will be contained within your job offer. 5 If you are accepted on the program then its because one or more things in your application form told us that you would be capable of succeeding in this environment. Thousands of young people from all walks of life have succeeded here. Please do not make the mistake of assuming that the great experiences that so many people speak of having had in Canada will come to you easily. You will have to work hard for them and you will have to deal with many new and potentially challenging circumstances along the way, especially at the beginning. It won t all be easy, and there may well be some things that you may not like. Be prepared for it to be tough; that is all part of the adventure, and this is what will make it feel all the more worthwhile long after you have returned home.
